My numbers have also been way the heck down for like the last week. Going to see if a reboot fixes anything.

As frustrating as it is for us to be idle I see this as a good thing overall. Means ALOT of people have their PC's going to help and the system can't keep up. Mine will be left waiting as they suggested.

Explosive growth is always hard to handle... especially if you do not factor in the actual pent-up demand (Post that was Linked) Server outages and limitations.by toTOW » Mon Mar 23, 2020 8:37 pm Here's a summary of current Folding@Home situation : - We know about the work unit shortage
- It's happening because of an approximately 20x increase in demand
- We are working on it and hope to have a solution very soon.
- Keep your machines running, they will eventually fold on their own.

Agreed, hopefully they can get the capacity issues resolved given a lot of the folks are volunteers and managing servers may not be their area of expertise. In Linus' recent folding video, he mentioned they were setting up an actual folding assignment/collection server to help out. He didn't give a date, but I expect the server will be insane!

Agree, FaH are in the deep end & servers with this much traffic is Not their Strength 2 weeks ago in Post 18 --> I mentioned this: With a "National Emergency" declared yesterday ... by the President [No political replies - TOS ] Time for FaHd to have those severs Hosted by the Pros .... @Cool GTX, they already have three servers spun up in azure according to the Folding @ Home Server Stats page. That's be great if they could get it managed and hosted professionally, perhaps as a tax write off / charity donation from somebody? I don't know how academics work, but that could be another option. This latest post is brutal! -> https://foldingforum.org/...lit=assignment#p317951 by bruce » Wed Mar 25, 2020 12:11 am The new servers we brought online yesterday are now completely saturated. The are (rare) breaks when there's room for a new client to get work, but you have to be lucky to hit one of those moments. Be patient. Supply and Demand, where Demand increases at a faster rate than Supply.

I have an unsent wu from a gpu that is still working on other things trying to send to 155.247.164.213 and 155.247.164.214 It will Expire on 2020-03-29 It has attempted since the 22. Various reasons that those two server addresses are rejecting. I hope it disappears at it's expiration date. Joe

The beta flag is really meant only for people on the beta testing team. If you are not going to join the beta team and run the flag you should at least report errors to a team member. I would be more than happy to report the errors if you send them to me, but I need to know GPU type and hardware config to report issues. Not trying to be a dick or anything just saying that is what that flag is for.

@Cool GTX, no problem. I'm in the same boat, I tried CPU for a bit, but the CPU PPD vs GPU PPD is a joke when comparing PPD/kWh. Maybe they'll do some kind of PPD/kWh adjustment in the future for CPU's? @Cool GTX, perhaps we can get some pics of your [link=mailto:F@H]F@H[/link] setup???

is there any setting you can change so that it's looking for a new job when it's like 33% done with the current one? it only starts requesting/downloading a new job at 99% and if there is any problem then it's instant down time.

@Cool GTX, very nice, I love the build logs! @phosgene2, yes, go to advanced settings for the slot you want to change it on and set next-unit-percentage = <% you want it to start downloading a job> More info here: Next Unit PercentageNext Unit Percentage v6: not applicable V7: next-unit-percentage XX Sets the work unit percentage completed as to when the V7 client downloads the next Work Unit (WU) while the current WU is processing, where XX is between 90-100%. 99% is the default setting. v6 and previous clients would finish a Work Unit (WU), upload it to the Work Server, then download a new WU, and begin processing. One of the best new features in the V7 client is the ability to concurrently download a new WU just before the current one completes, or while the current one uploads. Very fast computers, or computers on a very fast internet connection will find that changing this setting to 100% is the best balance between points and performance. Remember the bonus clock starts ticking when the WU is downloaded, so if downloaded earlier than necessary to keep the computer folding, the bonus points clock starts ticking down.

i guess that's not really gonna make any difference, and even if it did, i would be taking probably a 20% haircut on the points since the clock starts on download and the points melt so fast. i lose like 2k points just uploading the WU it degrades so fast. i wanted to make 10M this month but i give up. i'm tired of feeling like i'm competing for every gd thing. if they can't satisfy the demand, then i doubt my 1.5M points that i folded the past week because i can't get units will really make any difference.

Yes, the bonus point clock starts with the Download of the WU Valid settings for "next-unit-percent" any number between & including [90 - 100] FYI - if you do Not use the "flag" --> "next-unit-percent" ---> default Value is 90 Most Folders at this point are just trying to do the WU to help in the CV-19 battle Yes, the huge volunteer growth for FaH has made this a struggle for the rest of us ... seems to be a bit better this afternoon, lets hope it holds Do what you can ... when you can ...

Last couple of days, I have been getting solid GPU WU's. I haven't looked at the logs to see if the uploads are slow. I hope it's getting better for you guys. Cool of Linus to help. His team has exploded. I don't really care as long as the WU's get done. @CoolGTX, I'm folding on my weak 1080ti. {meany } Stay safe everyone, and fold your butts off.

Go to https://foldingforum.org/ Once there create an account. Then go here and read this https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=18031 If you agree with all it you can PM on of the admins that you would like to join. You will have to list hardware and agree to report errors. A couple of weeks ago a Covid beta was released that crashed slots right away. We reported it by several testers and the units where pulled and then fixed. Can not promise always up time on your machine as your goal is find bugs. if you love points the beta projects are usually very demanding and you get them putting in the effort.
