ASUS has become the first company to fully adopt the true gaming potential of DisplayPort 1.4, enabling resolutions of 4K at 144Hz with 10-bit colour and HDR enabled thanks to Display Stream Compression (DSC), a standard that has seen pitifully low adoption. Meet ASUS' ROG Swift PG43UQ, a 43.4-inch VA monitor that delivers high refresh rate 4K gaming with no compromises. 

This isn't 4K 144Hz in an "overclocked" monitor mode with chroma sub-sampling or some other gimmick; this is the real deal. Sadly, Nvidia graphics cards do not support DisplayPort 1.4 is Display Stream Compression at this time, leaving 4K at 144Hz as an AMD-only feature at this time. The PG43UQ will support variable refresh rates on both AMD and Nvidia graphics cards though VESA's Adaptive-Sync standard, and the screen is reportedly getting Nvidia G-Sync certified. 

The ROG Swift PG43UQ is due to be released in the first half of 2020, with Overclockers UK already hosting pre-orders for the display. We have no MSRP for the monitor, but Overclockers currently lists a pre-order price of £1,538.95.
 
I suppose if you want this type of performance be prepared to pay a lot of cash. Personally I find the price a little high. On the other hand it is a 43 inch monitor capable of 144 hertz at 4K.

The new Acer has the same DP 1.4 support for it 43" which I already own as a early birthday present. But it needs to have 2 DP 1.4 cables to enable 144mhz fresh rate but you your HDR. It has all the other same features as the Asus does.

So instead of increasing the PPI, they are increasing the distant in between.    "Details?!", they were asked.  "What's that?!", they responded.

DisplayPort 1.4 does not have nearly enough bandwidth. This panel needs DisplayPort 2.0
 

 it seems to be saying that because it uses Display Screen Compression (DSC) instead of chroma sub-sampling, it's "real" or at least more real, even if it's not quite as real as it would be with Displayport 2.0 and no compression at all. It does seem like it's only making progress to the full sized, uncompressed form, but saying "success(ish)" sells more than "getting closer" to the ideal.

How is 4K 144Hz AMD only? I understand they have support for the 1.4 DisplayPort but well have you seen AMD cards? We are talking about something you would really need more of a 2080Ti to pull off and well they are not in that ballpark.

So the rumors are true there will be an AMD card to be released soon beating the 2080ti for a cheapo price of $799.
Dont like the monitor is AMD only? if i recall correctly the so called Nvidia does the same practice and started this trend🤔

 I'm not even sure 2x cards could do it on any games. ..But we know SLi is almost non-existent nor hardly supported....
