Bkatt maskedmenace So, I randomly came across this thread and I decided to give it a read. I actually have a friend that's a transgender and serving in the military so, I vehemently disagree that you (Fran) actually looked into help or answers, at all. Via google in the last 30 seconds I came across this: http://www.sldn.org/pages/transgender-people-and-military-service And at the bottom: Any transgender individual with questions about military service or who is being harassed or is under investigation based on his or her status as transgender should contact SLDN by either calling (202.328.3244, ext. 100) or emailing (legal@sldn.org) to schedule an appointment with one of our legal staff. In contacting my friend, they actually challenged his status and he won...In fact, most do win. So, quite frankly and not to be rude but, there were other options at the time of your discharge. Also, if you were discharged for prejudice it would've been very easy to call GLAAD and have had a million plus people on your side by the time you hung up the phone. For someone that's "addicted to the internet" it seems as if you haven't actually followed through on anything... I mean no disrespect but, it's kind of shocking to me that you wouldn't follow through. Considering recent trends/lawsuits especially in regards to the military either, you'd be back in or, you'd be rich...Thus, not needing to live on the streets at all. But at the time fran was in the rules were different than they are now. Basically they processed it as being discharged due to sexual preference. And being "gay" in the military was a legit reason to be discharged. In fact i know one guy (not gay) who was in court to be process to get kicked out because of a video from a party that someone in his change of command came across, And it came off as being gay, So they went though the process and he had to prove and have his friend say say he was not gay in court... all because his leadership misunderstood the video. He was a judges ruling away from being kicked out... While I'm not disagreeing with that...my point is a rather simple one. We exist on a plane (The internet) with infinite resources...Many of you claim that you're addicted to this resource...IMO, the vast majority of you need to start using it better. Not only are there support groups for those that reach out, but, there's a tremendous amount of help available if you know where to look. Beyond that, GLAAD themselves, are an amazing network of people that offer help at quite frankly, every turn. Even with your comment in mind, I can't help but, to have the stigma that for someone who lives on the internet, basically doesn't know how to use it...I'm not trying to be vindictive or insulting but, if all you're doing is playing games on the internet then, you're not using it to it's fullest extent.

From my time in the military i have learned one very important thing, If you go though them for something they will seem helpful, but the moment you go outside of them for help than you are basically dead to them. Same thing if you get injured, I have been dealing with a ankle injury for over a year now because of someone else being "too high speed" and causing me to twist my ankle with 45lbps on my back and a weapon in hand... so not stopping me when i feel and my ankle did i do not even know what. But now it hurts every single day of my life. I am unable to get enjoyment out of a lot of the things i use to do in my life, i use to love to run and now i can barely get a mile or two before the pain gets to bad... And you know how they handled it when it first happened? the medics says i can still wall so continue mission, So i had to keep doing everything on it, no LOD filled out because the medics said it was not needed. And i could not keep up anymore and got labeled as a dirt because i kept falling out of runs and not keeping up during training, (when i use to be able to run circles around a lot of them), after a failed PT test ( almost maxed everything and failed the run) i said **** them and went higher, Bypassed the unit and went straight to the guy in charge of LODs for the state and had one created for the event, And after that i was finally able to get some medical help. and that is still in progress. Basically what i am getting at is this, If you are not what the military wants (your peers) because of who you are or something that happened than they will shun you and even work to get rid of you. And they will never let you know that you can fight what they are doing.... They will talk all about the help they can give but when something happens suddenly the help is not there... And the outside resources have little effect on the Intel side of the military. Civilian law does not effect military law. and if your being prosecuted on the military side of the house it would take a act of congress to get help outside of the military.

This thread was created out of pure desire for attention, nothing more (fueling an addiction, and trying to make up for what is lost in reality). While I know this is the "General Discussion", there are plenty of other forums on the internet where these topics would be more suitable.

I do not see people complaining about the thread where someones house or car was broken into, Or the post about losing their job, The one where someone died. Are those not the person desiring attention for their issue? I think i should quote your post and start putting them in those threads.

Yes, my response is somewhat hypocritical because that is what forums are for in general: attention being brought to a given subject. I read the entire thread before I made my post, and that's just my opinion. While there are other threads very similar like you pointed out, this one has been drawing the line about what should be discussed on computer forums. If the OP is seeking help (something that is constantly being brought up), they should seek the approprate place...which obviously doesn't inlcude a computer forum.

Some people get more "Comfort" out of talking to people with similar interest to them. sure it might not be the best place but it is good enough? people feel like the people here might understand them a bit better. Others also just need to vent, they might not really be interested in what others have to say but just need to say it somewhere. And the main thing i keep running into when it come to getting help is money... It cost a lot of money to go and see someone who can help. And that is not a option a lot of the time.

I completely understand/agree with what you are saying. I have met a great number of individuals through gaming that have easily brightened up my day simply by talking to me about random stuff. There have been several threads similar to this one over the course of a few years (gender related) , and they always start to get inappropriate very quickly. The EVGA forums are supposed to be "family-friendly" and these types of issues in my opinion are breaching that line

I can guarantee you a lot of people here have been through a whole lot of bad stuff in their lives, if I could have on of my best friends that died last week back, I would be homeless for years, or to have my ex girlfriend back that was ejected from her car Jan. 5, 2010 and killed, I would do anything, but you can't. You can't dwell on the past, you have to move forward and keep on keeping on, or it will end up consuming you and you won't make it. I have made excuses and felt sorry for myself in the past when I was younger, but as I grew up some I figured out that doing that was not helping me one bit, you just have to suck it up sometimes and make the best out of a bad situation, which is the best advice I can give.

After about a year of strikingly similar threads, I'm super surprised you guys haven't figured out Fran's addiction yet. Drama and Attention. I mean seriously, Super Soldier performance, afraid of cars? Homeless but posts constantly on the internet? Transgender, parades around in the nude? Robbed with water balloons? (washington was wierd when I lived there, but not that wierd) Has a four paragraph excuse and snark laden tirade locked and loaded for any advice that actually seems heartfelt? Incredibly hard to take these things seriously. You guys are wasting your sympathy, and advice.

I give up, I have tried to be as nice as possible and give real advice that would help 99% of people in similar situations, but if you don't want to help yourself there is no way anything any of us can say that will help you. If you want to lay around in self pity and feel sorry for yourself and aren't doing anything to change or help your situation, that is completely your fault. And not trying to be mean, but what you just wrote in response to my comment is nothing but a cop out. When I was in prison at an earlier time in my life, I heard similar stories on a daily basis, and bottom line, if you can't help yourself, there is nothing that can be done without you really wanting it.

I had money, I was in the army, I had computers, video games, Anything I wanted, everything based on being in the army. then everything came crashing down after the army discharged me. Talk about a fall from grace, just when i was finally convinced everything was going to get better....
“Then die, because you might as well be dead. Seriously, if you always put limits on what you can do, physical or anything else, it’ll spread over into the rest of your life. It’ll spread into your work, into your morality, into your entire being. There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. A man must constantly exceed his level.”
~Bruce Lee.
Who ever said I gave up? If i did why would i be sitting at the library working? Why would i be looking for safe places to sleep? Because i feel like it? or because i want another chance? Mind you if you forgot I do have a fiancee and she's rather stressed out by the situation too. Im not trying for just my sake this time, Im trying to make it for her sake too. I said it sucks, i didnt say id stop trying.

mblystone After about a year of strikingly similar threads, I'm super surprised you guys haven't figured out Fran's addiction yet. Lol i remember when fran created a "anyone play league of legends?" thread then says it's the most played game with a bad source, people put him down. http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1653969 fran comes back like a month later creates a new thread, and with a better source says I TOLD YOU SO LOL. I mean really? http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?&m=1669590&mpage=1 Doesn't accept criticism and just denies everything and says League of Legends is Elite and nothing can be improved, and nothing comes close to it. And if you don't agree with me, then your opinion doesnt matter. Also for someone that is "struggling" and "sleeping in the park", I hope you have fun with that guild wars 2 you prepurchased. http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1667961 You really need to get your priorities in order.

You stopped trying when you use the past as an excuse and a crutch for all your failures. Put it behind you and start living your life. Every time you dredge up past wrongs you're only taking steps backwards.

The big thing... I was right....you guys weren't. And Also, i just recently became homeless. i bought guildwars2 when I had money and was working a lot of hours. You know, i had a place to stay, plenty of food and unlimited time and a computer ect. So i bought it. But life has unexpected "surprises" sometimes.

Im working right now, that's called trying. BUT None of this changes the fact that a couple of black dudes tried to take my stuff in the middle of the night.
