Sounds to me like you need to reexamine your priorities in life. IMO, get multiple jobs, get a place to stay, and start a real plan for saving some money. If you spend your time gaming and don't ever save anything, you'll never be in a better position. You have to realize that though, nothing any of us say will help unless you have the maturity to actually realize that surviving more than paycheck to paycheck will take some work.

Procrastinating and not taking care of what needs to be taken care of has cost me thousands, but for whatever reason that's not enough motivation for me to take care of the things I need to take care of.  I could blame illegal immigration for me not perfecting a second language, I could blame the economy for me having to get a certificate to help get a better job, but instead I blame myself.  Is it fair I have to cater to those unwilling to learn English?  Who knows, but what I do know, is that I've had time to work on these concerns of mine but I haven't.

I'm content where I am at and where I am striving to be, even though I know that I should be furious and working 8 days a week to get what I truly deserve.  I've been working on this lately, but I could do more :)

Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom, a point so low that the only direction to go is up or 6 feet into the ground.  Despite roughing it without shelter and braving barbarous tribes of balloonmen in the wilds, you've still got some way to go before hitting that spot before things really start to turn around for you.

It's fine that you want to air your frustrations out here, BUT the one day you do decide that it is time to reach out for help, there might not be anyone left willing to extend a hand.  I've read posters that start sympathetic, even offering help in one form or another, only to grow apathetic towards your cause as they continue to hear one depressing thread after another.

And I'm sure this will only fuel the fire of stubbornness, as I'm sure you don't need anyone's help and that you can do it all by yourself.

Pride is one hell of a drug.

I agree with Kanti on this, you need to examine your own life, and see just how much further your willing to go down before you look up. You think you have a hard life, let me tell you my life growing up, so you understand that your not the only one that got a bad life to start with.

I grew up in a broken home, my father liked to throw furniture at me and my brother and sister. My mom was an emotional train wreck. The money my dad made went into booze, we borrowed money to make ends meet even though he was making 30 dollars an hour and working 50 hours a week, we didn't have money. From 1996-1999 I ate beans, just beans everyday breakfast, lunch and dinner, we couldn't afford anything else, because booze mattered more.

I got the internet in 98, and I made that my life, I was in chatrooms all the time, that was my escape from life, and it was a good life or so i thought. My life fell apart around me, I failed my class's and eventully dropped out, id rather sit online and talk about why I didnt wash my clothing than attend school. I ditched my friend in real life for a chat room and lost him. I stole from another friend to replace my video card so i could game. This is addiction. You know i could blame my family, I could blame my life, I could blame god, I could blame anyone for this.

What happened to get me out of this was in 2007 I woke up one day, living in the bed of my truck in the middle of the Arizona Desert, no job, no phone, no friends, and my family 1200 miles away in Texas. That day I swallowed my pride and stood in a work line, i called my mom from a payphone and apologized for everything I had done, i swallowed my pride and my ego, and asked for forgivness for what I had done to her.

My life has been for the most part happier, I made my circumstances, No i couldn't control my fathers drinking, but I could have seeked other options, even as a child, It was my choice to become addicted to gaming and the internet. And that addiction took me the lowest point of my life, I had nothing, and might I add that truck wasn't mine, it was an old heap parked there in the desert. I lost it all, and I hope you don't have to loose everything to realize that your on a path that leads no where.

You know no matter what has happened, Id bet if you called your mom and tried to make peace, honestly tried to make peace and apologized to her, she will forgive you and drop things. We are your friends, the people in the world don't know you, but your mom will always be your mom, no matter what you do or say, she is your mom, so swallow your pride and get on your knees and apologize to her, and ask her for guidance, ask her to help you out. And you know what the day you swallow your pride and admit that in many ways your still a child is the first step to becoming an adult.

I'm sorry, but I feel like you guys are being hypocrites saying the internet is an addiction Fran need's to toss. Like it or not, the internet has become an essential almost like food. People get fat and kill them selves slowly with obesity all of the time and it's hard to watch. I know a person that couldn't control them selves with the food intake, so now their 12 year old child has to wipe mommies butt because she's too fat to do it her self. A person has to come to a point where they moderate them selves to become healthy and balance out their life.

This isn't like cocaine, heroin, or some kind of drug that massively alters your mind, where you have physical withdraw. WIFI is everywhere, it is free. Not something you have to get 100 dollars for to get that next hit. The laptop Fran has is probably the only thing holding her together right now. To say that she should just sell it and go find a job is a little ridiculous, since it can be used for her google job, she does not have to worry about logging onto some public library PC that might have all kinds of key loggers on it. It provides far too many tools to help her get back on her feet, they just have to be used correctly and moderate the gaming time.

Everyone has their hardships. One of my best friends never got along with his mother. I witnessed it from the ages of 12-16 she was always out to get him in trouble, blaming everything on him before his brothers and sisters, ridiculous stuff he could not have possibly done. They were always on bad terms. Nothing ever went well, even after he moved out when he was 16, she was not very nice till he quit seeing them for about 2 years. 10 years later, she's now a lot different. To be honest, I don't think he could ever ever ever think of moving back in with them even for a few weeks to get back on his feet if anything crazy ever happened.

We all have our issues, on this forum most of us just look like ducks on the water, treading along smoothly. But there is a lot more to our stories that we just keep to our selves.

that isn't your moms fault, running around a house naked after u turn about 10 is inappropriate no matter the reason, you should have worn a towel its that simple.

That's what your taught, illogical, but it's what your taught. If you were taught otherwise, you would know no difference.

^what this guy said.

WARNING, wall of text below is me speaking my mind. You wanna say something? PM me.

Oh and Halo, get two jobs? Hahahahah, IF i get ONE job i'll be damned happy. Minimum wage though? not gonna cut it, can't live on that, and i'll be darned if i'ma stick around here. Sure i'll take a m.wage job, if I ever got offered one, but when your putting in apps and applying for jobs in columbus (i'm from canton, two hour drive one way) and still unemployed, yeah no thanks.

I love how a lot of guys think it's all Roses and bubble gum. Friend of mine has a master in three degrees, still looking for a job. I called a place three times in one month asking about an application I put in in, third call they threatened to press charges for harassment if I called again. I have to my name a bed a desk and my PC, a few little extras but otherwise, ha! Sure I could sell what i have left, I mean I used to have enough stuff to furnish an apartment. Couch, dishes, entertainment center, blah blah blah...

Can only take so much before you just say forget it.... So fran, I know your not much for ignoring haters, but you don't have to explain yourself to anyone anyway, and you don't have to defend yourself. I know where you are in life and I feel you. My struggles may not = yours but they are similar, so your not alone, and I'm sure you already knew that. I myself feel the only way i'll make anything of myself anymore is far from where I am now.

So, from what I understand in this awkward thread...

OP claims to be "anti social" and yet seems very social to the people on this forum.

Kicked out of place of residence, but makes $13.50 an hour but cannot find a cheap place to live?

Addicted to games, despite having to sleep in a park at night.

Blames Mom for all of this.

I'm stepping out before anything else happens... *adios*

All you poor souls, I'd put a cheap room up in the FS forum, but you're probably a bunch of wierdos :P    I don't want to wake up in the dark  and hear breathing in my ear or have my spare bedroom smelling like tunafish cans.

If you're cool maybe I'll let you park in front of my house and sleep in your truck.  If you're really cool you can park in the RV space.

If you were not a transgender you could of joined the military. I know you can join the military now if your gay. All I got to say is if you fail the ASVAB your DUMB!!! That test is soooooo easy to pass to get in the military. It has 8th grade math, science and reading on it. You have to get a 31 to pass which is like a D-. Shoot, you get points for even writing your name lol.

Just to input two cents. I can understand needing some internet access for work, but being ok with fulfilling an addiction that is blinding you from taking care of your priorities to the point that your own security is at risk is just plain asinine.

I fulfill plenty of my hobbies, definitely. Some of which are detrimental to my finances, but they are finances I have set aside to burn.

I always make sure my bills are paid well before I preorder anime figures. That's just common sense.

WOW. This thread is so full of crazy that I don't even know where to begin. I had no idea someone could get THAT addicted to something other than drugs/alcohol.

What is going to happen when some guy hits your lappy with a water balloon or takes off with it? With making that much money, you can find some kind of place and eat top ramen, beans and other cheap food and save all kinds of money until you get on your feet. My cousin traveled most of the world couch-surfing (there are websites) He used no money and the funny thing is, he did it for fun but being homeless with a laptop and with a gaming addiction is not going to work out.
I've been trying to pry myself from behind a monitor/ tv screen for a few months now and I feel so much better. I have lost around 50 pounds, I am doing my first 5K race and I feel younger than ever. Maybe I was addicted too? Everything needs to be in moderation. I wish the best but I can't see your current situation getting better on it's own.

As others have stated, you may have to conform, to some degree, with your appearance to get a good job. Don't make your transgender situation an issue and it won't be an issue. Also to others, I think Fran has stated that she was kicked out of the military so that is not an option.

Im really not worried about my addiction as it is right now. I dont mind being addicted, gives me soemthing to do and to focus on.
Im  worried about my job and getting recontracted at the end of august.
Im worried about finding a place to live, THANK THE STARS they arent making me stay in a mens shelter. -shivers-

If i dont get recontracted im going to end up having an aweful hard time finding a job since background checks are so easy to do. Thanks mom for screwing me over in life!

Might want to reverse that mode of thinking. Focus on your job and finding a place to live. Worry about being addicted to internet games later. Life will screw you with or without your family or friends involvement.......just need to learn to be on the giving end and not the receiving end of it.

Some families are just mean, Heck my family told me i had to get out when i turned 18, i was still in school at 18 and even had a job part time job...

But nope. at 18 i had to leave and try to manage a place to live, full time school, and barely getting a income from working a few hours a week at the dollar store... That was way rough...

And all because none of their kids got a high school diploma and moved out at 18. The dropped out because they could not keep their grades up and i was doing well and even getting out early... No bad behavior issues or anything... How messed up is that?

To get kicked out because you are doing well for yourself because their kids did bad and dropped out of school.

Seriously... You make it sound like gangwars in the park with waterballon fights haha. Is that how the Bloods and Crips are fighting nowadays, with waterballons?

Also honestly, sometimes you gotta cut your losses Fran.

You got a "gaming addiction" but living on the streets. Well if that laptop is worth alot. Then sell it, and buyer a cheaper laptop (Even a $200 one), just to stay in touch with the interwebs, and use all that extra money to get yourself back on your feet.

Not trying to be rude, but it's the cold, hard truth. For instance, I LOVED my rig, but I had to sell it last month, so I could get my truck going again. I could've been whatever, and said I WILL NOT sell my rig, but then I'd still be without a truck. So sometimes in life, you gotta give up things to get other things better. It sucks, I know, but it's life.

Re:A couple people tried to rob me in the park. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 5:19 PM (permalink)
Fran, I do truly feel sorry for the situation that you are currently in, but while it is not entirely your fault, you do however, have to accept that you too also played a large role in what has transpired.

However, over the past year I have seen numerous threads and posts of yours either crying foul over something or you telling about some life story and how it wasn't your fault whether it be your issues with trandgender oppression from others or your synopsis on how hardcore an addiction to games is. In a fair amount of your posts you seem to come off as a very abrasive and touchy personality. Even the slightest of remarks appeared to set you off into a 5 paragraph, sometimes snarky, response to someone.

Yes, I know how hard it is to hold back opinions on things that you totally disagree with, which is understandable. However, you have to know when and where you can lay it out on somebody. You have to learn to sometimes count to 3 take a deep breath and move on "knowing" how you would have totally ripped them a knew one and how they totally deserved it, without actually going off on them.

In short, you will have to learn what exactly is vital to you. What holds more value in your life? That will be something that will truly be difficult to reflect upon, and that I wish you the best with. One thing that I have noticed about you over time is how you do tend to throw out information to establish HEY! You there! I'm different, treat me as such! While yes, this is an exaggeration, I believe you get my point. (Hopefully) The point of this is that you don't always have to go out and make the whole world aware of all your details secrets. You don't really go out shake somebody's hand and say I gutted somebody with that hand last night :).

Oh well. I truly wish you the best with your endeavors, and that you can go off and hopefully live a happy, successful life (at least in your eyes). In the end, Live and Learn.

While I'm probably not as wise and encountered all of life's difficulties as i'm only 18, I do believe that much of what I have wrote here holds true, and I hope that it can help you in some way, shape, or form.

HAZMAN_THE_GREAT

If you were not a transgender you could of joined the military. I know you can join the military now if your gay. All I got to say is if you fail the ASVAB your DUMB!!! That test is soooooo easy to pass to get in the military. It has 8th grade math, science and reading on it. You have to get a 31 to pass which is like a D-. Shoot, you get points for even writing your name lol.

I scored an 81 on the Asvab, a friend outted me while i was in the army.
Before they kicked me out i was getting ready to be sent to AIT for the 2nd time for a 68series MOS(medical series) The unit i was going to be transfering to wanted to put me into 68X for garrison detail because they already had enough combat ready and critical MOS but needed to re-staff the medical battallion.
However my privious unit's command was full of mysoginistic jerks. NO ONE in the lower enlisted had any issue with me being transgender at all. PROBABLY because one of the guys saw a folder on my laptop during down time at annual training that was filled with ermm.... "suggestive pictures" if you know what im getting at, followed by "hey guys check out [my last name]'s porn folder!" Embarassing moment but hey who doesnt have porn on their laptop/computer?

The whole unit knew after a few weeks and no one i was required to be around even cared, but command did and they didnt even know me. they didnt care i had one of the highest PT scores in the unit, they didnt care i was the 3rd fastest runner in the entire HHB, they didnt give a flip about my 29/40 with a jammed weapon, they didnt care that i had a critical MOS, they didnt care. They wanted me out because of prejudice.
Because if youre not a heterosexual male theres a massive bias agaisnt you in the Army. no matter how useful a soldier you were.
I loved being in the army, it was awesome, I was estatic to be deployed and do a tour of duty over seas.

Not trying to get off the subject but I have 2 laptops and 4 other systems and not one of them have pRon on them. I would think if you were to have that kind of material, you would hide it? And all that army stuff and you're bothered by water balloons?

Use some money, get a pad and paper and write out some real life goals and what you need to do to achieve them. Like: get a full time job, house and car. Place all this fantasy and game stuff behind you. I know it sucks following the norm and dressing up to cater to other people but that is what life is sometimes.

Yeah it sucks, but you've gotta keep your personal life personal.  It's a tough balance between being business only yet offering enough personality to be friendly and personable at work.  Too much info and you get hosed, and too little people hate you for being a robotic jerk.  If I opened my locker at work and a sexy photo was plastered to the inside and a co worker saw it I'd be done.  Not only would I have been fired, but I'd get hit with a sexual harassment suit.

I kept things professional 99% of the time, but ended up getting fired when one of my bosses found out I was with two girls at the same time.  It happens to the best of us.

It seems a lot of you did not read the full story,

Dude tries to rub fan and does not succeed and runs away.

Than dude comes back with a friend and water balloons, not necessarily to still but get some kind of revenge because he did not succeed the first time.

It is still harassment and theft no mater how you look at it. You just find it funny because water balloons were involved the second time.

But i am guessing non of you have been robbed or had someone harass you with no means to stop it have you?

That is why my gun will the be last thing i get rid off, because if someone puts their hands on me with intent to cause harm than they will not live to harass someone else or cause them harm. Instead of balloons and water it will be a body and blood.

So, I randomly came across this thread and I decided to give it a read.

I actually have a friend that's a transgender and serving in the military so, I vehemently disagree that you (Fran) actually looked into help or answers, at all.

Via google in the last 30 seconds I came across this: http://www.sldn.org/pages/transgender-people-and-military-service

And at the bottom:
Any transgender individual with questions about military service or who is being harassed or is under investigation based on his or her status as transgender should contact SLDN by either calling (202.328.3244, ext. 100) or emailing (legal@sldn.org) to schedule an appointment with one of our legal staff.

In contacting my friend, they actually challenged his status and he won...In fact, most do win.

So, quite frankly and not to be rude but, there were other options at the time of your discharge.

Also, if you were discharged for prejudice it would've been very easy to call GLAAD and have had a million plus people on your side by the time you hung up the phone.

For someone that's "addicted to the internet" it seems as if you haven't actually followed through on anything...

I mean no disrespect but, it's kind of shocking to me that you wouldn't follow through.

Considering recent trends/lawsuits especially in regards to the military either, you'd be back in or, you'd be rich...Thus, not needing to live on the streets at all.

But at the time fran was in the rules were different than they are now. Basically they processed it as being discharged due to sexual preference. And being "gay" in the military was a legit reason to be discharged. In fact i know one guy (not gay) who was in court to be process to get kicked out because of a video from a party that someone in his change of command came across, And it came off as being gay, So they went though the process and he had to prove and have his friend say say he was not gay in court... all because his leadership misunderstood the video. He was a judges ruling away from being kicked out...
