Maybe the packaging went from Single Wall Corrugated Cardboard to Double Wall Corrugated Cardboard.

It should be $119.99 like it has always been except during 980Ti days when it was $99.99 MSRP.

SoCalGamer86 Ummmm...why does it say the hybrid is now $180?😡
Good question. Can you spot the difference? ![](https://forums.evga.com/upfiles/smiley/s2.gif) ...
I can spot the difference. The difference is this... One kit works for the 1080/1070 without any modifications. The other kit works with the 1080 ti/Titan XP without any modifications.
FattysGoneWild To funny. Drop big money on a high end gpu and wont pay an extra 50-60 bucks on the kit. Peanuts. So what if they raised the price.
+1
Yes, too funny. So what if they raise the price by 50%. Lets just mock those of us who don't like gouging. Thumbs down.
Some people get off on antagonizing others while contributing absolutely nothing themselves. Strangely enough, often those same people will be the ones reacting the loudest when they find themselves in the same position.

Hmmm, well I was thinking of going with one of these, but not a chance at that price. I mean we are talking about $240 cdn and then most likely another $60 or so for shipping. Not worth it at all. Jacob said this on Twitter just a few minutes ago. Not correct and getting fixed, sorry about that. It did have to change unfortunately though. Since it was a smaller run the cost was higher. https://twitter.com/EVGA_JacobF/status/847604149860442112
And he himself totally ninja'd me.

You don't seem to understand why people are complaining. No, $60 probably isn't much to the person spending $700 on a video card.

I guess I took your +1 to Fatty's mocking as being supportive of his mockery. That aside, I'd still like to know what improvements, considering they copied the product page from the 5188. justifies a price increase. Whether I can afford the price is irrelevant, if it is simply gouging then, that needs to be mocked.

Totally agree. I'd buy it at $120 and I'd buy it at $180. mrbinkels I would pay someone $50 to mod the 1080 kit for me. Or i could just pay the extra $50 and get this one that's modded already. I'm a bit lazy that way.
Agree with this too.

I'm clearly new to this forum but without taking sides, perhaps there was a retooling that had to take place in China to make this modification. Or maybe this was the Web Admin's last day at work and he wanted to have a little fun. I will agree that EVGA should make some type of a statement as surely they new changing the price would draw scrutiny.

Totally agree. I'd buy it at $120 and I'd buy it at $180.
And that is why we have full $60 games that are freaking bug riddled trash bins, riddled with microtransactions and $15+ DLC for days rather than a full working game like we did pre-2007.

I agreed with fatty as it really is peanuts when you really look at it. EVGA is providing everyone with a kit that doesn't need any modifications when used with 1080 ti's or titan xp's. That in itself could justify the price increase alone.

That's funny... because I just bought like 6 different games and didn't pay more than $44 for any of them... most were $30-$35... and I refuse to take part in microtransactions.

What limited run quantity? This is for the TitanXP as well...They've been waiting almost a YEAR for this. There's zero reason not to have a huge amount of stock of this.

If both kits are exactly the same then they will still require some modification to work with 1080 ti/titan xp. I doubt that is the case here.

You're aware that this kit is for all of the blower reference cards from the GTX 1070 to the TITAN (P) right? And you're aware that I used the terms 'essentially the same' and not 'identical', for a reason.

I mean no disrespect, but it has been up there as $119.99 for over a week...I know because I have been eyeballing it ever since it was announced. So why the sudden shift? Why did it take over a week to correct this "pricing error". What makes this worth the time of not buying a 1080 kit and mod it or just say "meh" and buy a 3rd party kit? There was no announcement, there was no "our bad guys", it just....changed...out of nowhere....

I'd buy it too, but that doesn't mean I'll should ignore the price gouging (assuming that is what this is, since I have not seen EVGA respond to it). This just isn't the sort of thing most of us expect from EVGA - normally that behavior is reserved for EBay and third party sellers on Amazon and Newegg, and certainly people comment on that too, but again people still buy the stuff as well. Capitalism in action, however there's other factors to think of - such as reputation. Hey maybe it's just a typo, or maybe the original price was a typo, or maybe there's a lot more involved in the manufacturing of this kit than we're aware of.. or maybe it's just business and profit, and reputation can go fornicate itself in a dark corner somewhere as far as EVGA is concerned. :D

Ark161 And that is why we have full $60 games that are freaking bug riddled trash bins, riddled with microtransactions and $15+ DLC for days rather than a full working game like we did pre-2007.
Where have you been all my life? I've been saying this in forever with everyone looks at me dumbfounded. I keep telling people we keep buying alpha/beta games now compared to what I remember what games were like growing up in the 90s+. They wouldn't have gotten away with it back than. Now its a hack job paradise.
