30% performance improvement for 36$ and you dont want it ?

You can get the hybrid kit if you are that worried about the temps. Most reviews mention that throttling isn't that much at max temp and is still faster than 1080.

No kidding...  my step up cost is $140 and for that kind of performance increase I'm all over it.  Would be a pretty dumb decision not to upgrade IMO.

I have 72 days left, so there's no rush in waiting for something that may be better in step up.

I can always apply for the step up on the last few days without issue.

I really like the look and performance of the ftw2 card. I'm getting the liquid cooler this week and want to sync them up together for lighting.

Finally got my 1080 out and took the block off and put one of my two 780 Ti's back in to hold me over. I don't plan on playing PC anyway since I have the new Zelda game on the WiiU so I'll just play it till my card arrives. I just have to put the air cooler back on and ship it out in the morning.
Only bad thing is the water block on my Asus 780 Ti has a stripped bolt hole that goes to the part you put the fittings in so I just put a slightly bigger diameter bolt in it and it is working but it will rule out resale of that card since I don't have the original air cooler for it. I'll probably just keep it for a spare and sell the other MSI 780 Ti since I have the air cooler for it. Time to go put the stock cooler on then off to bed to get up early enough to get it sent out by morning.

I think you made a wise decision. Any time you have time to make a decision that fits you best is always the right way to go

Does the hybrid kit fit the ti?

It might be worth it to get the ti and hybrid kit, that way I'll have super low temps and a better card.

I'm not sure if it's been confirmed yet. I would think so since all the Titan XP reference blocks seem to be compatible with the reference Ti's. I sent my 1080 off for step up about an hour ago and should have my Ti by middle of next week. I bought the EK Titan XP waterblock so I'll know for sure if it's compatible soon as I get my Ti. If it works, I'm sure the hybrid kit will as well. But I wouldn't take the risk unless someone can 100% confirm it. I took the risk with the EK block since it says it's compatible with the Nvidia Ti FE but no mention of the EVGA Ti FE yet. I'm not too worried, I'm pretty confident they both(the EK Titan XP Block and the Hybrid Kit) will work with any reference Ti.

Re: 1080 TI FE Step Up Thread 2017/03/13 09:23:25 (permalink)
Couple quick questions. First, does most of the 1080's come with a display port cable, or more specifically, did the FTW Gaming come with one? Second, if so and I forgot to put it back in with the card, would they reject my step up due to that?

I was so wrapped up in finding every last piece that came with my card that I completely forgot about the display port cable. I know it says you don't have to include any of the DVD's, poster's, etc but I put everything back in including the folder full of papers, a DVD, case badge, and even all the rubber protectors for the pcie, SLI, HDMI and display ports as well as the unopened 6/8 pin pcie power connector adapters. The display port cable completely slipped my mind. Would really suck to get rejected over a cable. Anyone know?

Just send the card back. They do not need the accessories

And no gpu comes with the cables. They do have a dvi to vga adapter, but not an actual cable.

They qould reject your card if:

1.) You dropped it and damaged it.
2.) You didnt pack it properly
3.) You dont have an RMA number
4.) It wasnt an evga card you sent back... which would be weird.

Also, read the email for shipping the card back.. it very directly says to keep all accessories. You just need to send the card back, with 2" of padding and a hard outer box. Do not send it in a padded envelope.

No they did not come with any cables. The only semi cables in the box were small adapter cables but I am pretty sure they are just focused on getting the card back.

Thanks. I read everything about not having to send back accessories or anything but I didn't need them and I wanted to make sure they had no reason to reject it. I put the card back in the original plastic holder it came in and that inside the original box that came in and finally in the original Amazon box with all the old shipping labels removed. Put thick Styrofoam on all sides of the original GPU box but one and on the top as well. It's very well secured but doesn't have anything on the bottom for padding is all. The original plastic container the GPU came in is enough to secure it on its own but I went over the top on everything but the bottom. I don't think they'll have any problem with that. Thanks again for the reassurance about the accessories though. It's due to arrive at EVGA Wednesday so I'm hoping to get my new one by the next Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Re: 1080 TI FE Step Up Thread 2017/03/13 11:00:30 (permalink)
Went through the entire gauntlet Friday Mar 10 -
Step 1 on card #1 at 12:26 CST (1:26 EST), card # 2 at 12:31 CST (1:31 EST)
Step 2 Invoice already uploaded
Step 3 Payment email received 7:14pm CST (8:14pm EST), sent payment same time
Step 5 at about 10pm CST (11pm EST), sequential RMA numbers

Packaged (original packaging, little bit of shrink wrap then roll of tape, then cutout cardboard corners taped on, then about 3" of bubble wrap and another roll of tape all over the bubble wrap), shipped Saturday USPS Express (I don't trust Priority and any machine dumper type processing) w/1300 bucks insurance.

Received by EVGA this morning 9am PST (11am CST, 12pm EST) - I hope they arrived intact.  Tank-like packaging.

Will quote this post when the turnaround happens.

Upload your original receipt. If it was just a regilar rma, you wont have a different invoice.

If you are talking about using the icx upgrade, the upgrade is your receipt.

I'm looking at my products right now and it shows the step-up information, id, queue, shipping method chosen, etc. At the bottom it says invoice uploaded, so I assume I'm fine then?

What card are you using to step up from? ICX or and old card? I cant see what you are referring to, so it is hard to know exactly what you see.

I had a 1080 FTW ACX, RMA'ed it, and now stepped up from the RMA'ed card. Under the my products page, if I select my card that I'm stepping up from, it shows all the step up information and at the bottom it says invoice uploaded.

If you originally uploaded your receipt when younreceived your first card, then the receipt transferred to the new card already. So you are good.

EU here .I started my step up 20 minutes later, 2017.03.10. 20:20h, I'm still on step 1, queue status pending. I hope I'm in the first 100 :D This is my first step up, stepping up from 1080 ftw2, so I don't really know how fast are they going to process it. I hope they don't keep me waiting too long.

Got both my cards in at 20:04 and 20:06, and only received one confirmation (step 1/4) by mail. I uploaded both invoices previously.

My transport company reported that EVGA EU received my card on thursday (March 9th) but nothing changed in the EVGA RMA page until today (monday March 13th), so don't worry if it takes a 2-3 days.
