Re: 1080 TI FE Step Up Thread 2017/04/24 23:39:48 (permalink)
Well here's my shipping story.

4/20/2017 - Paid for shipping to EVGA, UPS 3-day. Packed, labeled, dropped it off at a UPS store.

4/21/2017 - Nevermind. There was no 4/21/2017.

It's now 4/25/2017 now (the day it was supposed to be delivered to EVGA) and there hasn't been a single UPS scan since I dropped it off at the store.

The card is gone.

UPS Store "gave it to the driver, doesn't know what happened after that".  It shows it being checked in at the UPS store, but apparently never made it to the depot.

So you guys all have fun with your 1080FEs.
Looks like I just donated a GTX 1080 Classified to someone.

(Yup. Fully know this isn't an EVGA issue. Just had to vent ~somewhere~ about a hopeful step-up turning into a $700 loss.)

that sucks man,

but its not like nobody is accountable. they took your package so they ought to protect it. if they lost it, they have to pay it back to you for full amount evga considers this card to be worth.

I would also let evga know about this immediately. like, write them youre having these issues so they can freeze your step up or something until you sort it all out.

Going to call EVGA first thing in the morning to see if they can freeze the step up - hopefully they'll make a time exception on this one.  And, I *did* insure it for $750, and I *did* get a drop-off receipt from the UPS store. I also included a print-out of the RMA which includes EVGA's address and my address inside the box, which is another thing they always recommend.

But right now I'm reading horror stories on getting UPS to pay this sort of thing out, and some noise about "the UPS store not really being UPS so they're not responsible" (give me a break, how's anyone supposed to know that).. so my blood pressure is up through the roof.

I hope you're right that *someone* is accountable, but right now they're saying they have to "Start an investigation" which may take two weeks... Really hope EVGA is understanding in this mess :\

EVGA should be understanding.  Things happen.  Did you call UPS and ask for Customer service?  1-800-742-5877  Someone has to be able to track down the package.  I used UPS store near my house to send my SC2 back and it got there on time.  The man who owns the store is a small business owner.  UPS pretty much farms out the franchise and you run it.  The guy I deal with is pretty straight up.  Another question.  Did you paste the pre-made label on the outside of the box?  I did not.  It clearly stated a part number for EVGA that can easily be looked up and ID'd as a video card.  When I insured my original card for $600, I was asked what was in the box...I told him a defective video card being sent in for replacement.  I have also had cases where UPS just didn't track a package and it was delivered to me on time.  If you shipped two to three days on 4/21...you start counting business days starting the Monday following.  UPS doesn't work on Sat/Sun.  It could still get there by tomorrow.  I would call and find out just where the card is.

Hey folks,
Is it normal for the payment to be stuck at pending and still asking for payment even though I've already paid?

How long has it been like that? If only a short period I wouldn't worry. But if it is into the next day I would give them a call.

Did you get the confirmation email that you paid?

Been like that for around 7 hours now. Weirdly when I put the payment through I got repeat e-mails for steps 1-3 but not the payment e-mail.

Got my 1080ti step-up yesterday. Put it in the machine and have been doing some testing and whatnot with it on air. My EK waterblock is out for delivery today, so it should be water cooled by this evening. Then the real testing can occur.

EVGA was great throughout this whole process, from my upgrade request on the last day of eligibility from the 1080 SC to the 1080 SC2, to getting into the 1080ti step up queue before I even had the SC2 in my hands, to receiving my unopened SC2 and getting the 1080ti in the mail back to me, they've been Johnny on the spot, not to mention the astounding fact that for a very reasonable price I was able to upgrade from a 10-month old 1080 SC to a 1080ti FE.

I would suggest that you file a complaint with the BBB, name the UPS store specifically and ask for the retail value for the card back.  That will get more attention the their investigation.

I guess the upshot is that so long as UPS pays up, you'll be able to just buy a 1080ti outright and not worry about the step up. Only issue would be if you'd bought an extended warranty on the original card that EVGA would have transferred to the stepped up card.

You don't have to.  If you did the ICX upgrade...EVGA stated (Chris B) that the upgrade would have been from the original price of the upgrade.  My step up was from the SC2 to the TI FE, so my SC2 was originally valued at $649.99 (original MSRP)...thus my step up was $50 plus shipping.  The original MSRP of the FTW2 was $679.99, so you put that in your original price and pay the difference.  EVGA knows what the pricing was...so getting the OK should be easy.

They said it wasn't necessary. I saved the upgrade confirmation as a text file and uploaded that, and I got through the step up program and am loving the 1080ti now.

Same here. I'm hoping EVGA will allow us to step up to a 1080Ti non-FE edition. I'll wait until the last day to step-up.
