Are the cheaper packages worth it?  Salvaging interests me.

My suggestion is to get the cheap package. There is no reason to get anything more expensive. Everything will be able ot be earned in-game via normal play. There is no incentive to pledge a bigger ship than the entry level Aurora.

Brad if you can send me an invite I'll join up, my name at RSI is Halo003.

Have you logged in since the website database upgrade? I tried sending an invite earlier but Halo003 isn't returning any results.

Looks like I was already in one, I just quit it and joined RIFT.

All set. So far we're all EVGA members. Was planning on picking up a few from other tech forums but haven't yet.

No hurry, no promotions going on at the moment and Dog Fighting won't be out till PAX.

Besides, it's not like the devs need the money. They already have $40 million raised.

Single server main universe with instance combat and the ability to have private servers. Undetermined yet just how many can be in one instance yet. Will be determined in balance testing. Squadron 42 will be a single player experience while the persistent universe will be a hybrid MMO. It's to cater to several different play styles.

Confirmed it'll occur but who knows when in the development cycle. They're doing things a lot differently than traditional single dev house development. They've instead assigned each major module to their own development location and they're developing the whole game in parallel across something like 7 or 8 dev houses right now.

I'm sure someone will do a SW total conversion private server. I'd actually be surprised if someone doesn't.

Is the game supposed to come with mod tools for private servers ?

Brad? Sounds like Robert still knows what he's doing, nice to see some old developers, still have their stuff.  Smaller multi groups/teams sounds like it would be more proficient for a large project, and eazyer to control/manage, less BS, overhead and cash flow?

Yep, it's interesting how he is doing things. It's like he's assigning strike teams to specific parts of the game and they're all coordinating based on his vision.

From all this BS with CG houses, game delvs artest getting screwed over a paycheck. Its awesome to see Robert doing things outside the box, and take care of his crew. I just hope Beta is pretty solid out the gate.....

Happy employees, makes you cash, employees spend cash, puts food on table/pays rent. Boss man makes more cash, and the circle of economics continues.

Yep, and it also gives those dev houses a sense of ownership over their particular part of the game.

I'm assuming the Rift support is rudimentary but I'm curious to know your experience with it.  (I'm assuming you threw it on and tried it out as soon as you could)

Nope, not worn my Dev Kit 1 since late last year. It sits on my desk. Last Rift I wore was Crystal Cove at CES 2014. I'll try it out in the next day or two though. After having experienced several HD prototypes and the Crystal Cove prototype it sort of takes the enthusiasm out of using Dev Kit 1. I just want Dev Kit 2 and Consumer to be out already.

Team progress reports for February. Lots of interesting stuff taking shape. With that many puzzle pieces fitting together in so many different ways, Chris Roberts must have a black belt in cat herding.

Keep checking Craigslist... you will find one eventually.

Since it will have XBox controller support, does that mean there will be support for PS3/PS4 Controllers also ?

There's a paradox at the moment with the Dualshock controllers.  Sony needs to officially support the PC with the DS drivers before a PC game can officially support the DS.  Right now there are only homebrew wrapper drivers for the DS3 and DS4 controllers.  I believe Sony stated they have the intentions of releasing Windows drivers eventually but who knows.
