Dont know when Ill have that $500 for the thrustmaster hotas. Wow, I swera I remember that being cheaper butt cheeks?

Keep checking Craigslist... you will find one eventually.

Since it will have XBox controller support, does that mean there will be support for PS3/PS4 Controllers also ?

There's a paradox at the moment with the Dualshock controllers.  Sony needs to officially support the PC with the DS drivers before a PC game can officially support the DS.  Right now there are only homebrew wrapper drivers for the DS3 and DS4 controllers.  I believe Sony stated they have the intentions of releasing Windows drivers eventually but who knows.

Looks like i will be using DS3 Tool, for a while longer then.
I do have a Saitek set up, to me it seems overwhelming, but i wont give up on it.
Just thinking.. When boarding enemy ships it will be 3rd/1st person action, and a controller might work better.

MisterCrow,
Unquote,
There's a paradox at the moment in Sony

Since when has Sony been smart about anything in the last 10 years?

Besides, if you not doing the Joystick w/ Throttle, the 360 controller prob going to be the better bet and less BS'

I have three different controllers all setup -- 1) Warthog+Saitek rudder, 2) Razer Hydra, 3) Xbox 360 controller. I'll just hop from one set to another as I want to. I couldn't imagine first person with HOTAS, so I'll have the Hydra for movement in character mode.

Too early to know. The thing is, when they end up doing an ipad/android app that means there is going to be an interface back end implemented for i/o. Someone is going to reverse engineer it so you'll probably see a lot of third party apps regardless of platform.

Heard about this from a buddy who has already pumped well over $700 into the game. Super excited.

The Idris corvette is dead; long live the Idris frigate!

Yep, now it can be a major base of operations. God only know I paid enough for it.

They go into major concept art detail on all the new rooms in the Idris in the new jump point. Things like captains quarters, sickbay, armory, brig, crew quarters, new utility ship addition, a jeffries tube crawlspace like setup for engineering throughout the ship, new designs for escape pods, briefing room and a bunch more. It's easily 2x the ship it used to be. It's going to be the cap ship the first story arc of Squardron 42 is going to be in. This is all Foundry 42 work on the ship. It's not even been handed off for final refinement to CGBot yet. That'll get it's own final write up later in a future jump point.

Did they ever say whether or not as a corvette it would fit in the hangar?  Either way, I'm assuming now it probably won't, not that it matters.

They've not said. It's hard to infer either way at the moment, because of the new planetside room system they're working on is dynamic now. Still not sure if that means all ships will be accommodated by the new setup. It used to be that the Idris was going to land on a pad outside the hangars, but that was before the new hangar dynamic system was talked about. Either way they still show the Idris as landing capable with entry stairs and ramps. IMHO, Foundry 42 are a lot more intuitive on what was needed for the ship than Chris Roberts was. It's now a self contained environment that has most of what is needed to use it as an organizational hub of activity. A lot more Star Trek of a complete ship now instead of only focused on instant combat.

Hopefully this means that if they release a anvil or some other corvette it won't be 1k but hopefully more like 500 dollars.

I never got why they needed to put a hangar bay in the Corvette though. It's like they got confused about the roles of ship types. Oh well, it worked out good for me and the rest that sign up with my org.

The original requirement were placed by the Squadron 42 team. It required a small hanger and corvette class, which the ship teams built the Idris. Upon further inspection what the Squadron 42 team needed was not possible in a Corvette size. They upgraded the Idris to frigate class and are designing a new ship for Squadron 42 with new requirements. Since they already sold the Idris and stated what it would have they couldn't back out of the deal and simply upgraded everyone's ship to a frigate.

Kinda sad that I couldn't even get a look at the Idris for sale. I thought this last time with the time slot thing I would have a chance, nope was sold out before I could even refresh the page on the hour mark. Oh well crossing my fingers that Anvil makes a Corvette class (hopefully the Carrack is a Corvette).

Edit: As for the it landing on the surface, I could be wrong, but I believe CR said only Corvette class and below (patrol boats aka constellation, fighters, cargo runners) would be able to land on planet. Larger capital ships aka Frigates would be space bound.

The Idris design pre-dates Foundry 42's existence, so they didn't have a part in the initial Ryan Church design. Their requirements post-date the initial design hence the radical changes now occurring. The latest jump point magazine clearly shows it's still configured for landing mode with landing struts and ladders/ramps for entry/exit points.

Sorry I meant single-player game not Foundry 42, This is in the Subscribers Jump Point magazine. I'll have to find the reference when I'm home.

Found it: The team at Foundry 42 is currently building the first missions for Squadron 42, the single player game that will launch you into the Star Citizen universe. The game’s story calls for the player to start the game aboard a smaller UEE capital ship. We assigned them the Idris, the scrappy little corvette with a fierce bite already designed by Ryan Church.

Working from the Idris for this piece seemed like a natural fit… until the team whiteboxing the interior found that the original concept was not sized to fit with the Hornet model. Since the Idris would need to carry multiple Hornets (in both Squadron 42 and the persistent universe) they needed to expand the flight deck. Other additions, necessary as we learned exactly how a capital ship would function, necessitated more inside: a tender to support repair operations, medical facilities for the FPS segment and so on. The Idris needed to get bigger and better!

In the end, the ship was a full hundred meters longer and a much more imposing threat than the patrol corvette we originally imagined. As such, we have made the decision to reclassify the ship. The Idris is now a frigate, and existing fiction will be updated to reflect this change wherever possible. We are not removing Idrises from anyone’s inventories; everyone who owned an Idris corvette yesterday owns an Idris frigate today. I’m hoping existing backers will be happy: you’re ending up with twice the ship you pledged for!

So, yes the Idris seems like it was before the Foundry 42 but the requirements that the team made changed the Idris. So confusion on my part. As for the landing part I'm not sure I know I heard CR about a year ago say that capital ships couldn't land planet side. Then he changed it to corvette only, looks like he changed it again. Meh not a huge game changer.

You ever need a fighter pilot or manning for that thing let me know.

Wow the asteroid hangar looks like it's going great.  I would think about upgrading to one if there was a lawful-space edition.

It amazes me...how many people pump money into a game with little to no content, and zero accountability on the other end of it. I mean, I hate to be a goon about this, but what says they'll even release the game? Hell if I had $42mil that came in...I'd just take off to a foreign country and retire...

Good luck to you folks though, as I believe this game has been in the making for awhile now...He's taking a Blizzard approach to game development. (eeek)

However I will say the chick on the development team now has a nice tan and is dressing much nicer... congrats, you've updated her lifestyle LMAO!

For the money it's not bad. Then again it's not $200. I used to have an X65. My current stick is a Warthog. I really don't like Saitek in general. I prefer CH Products or Thrustmaster personally.

From what I see, nothing more than a console/arcade setup for UI/Controls/Radar! Heck, even Xwing, back in the 90's had better UI & Controls.

I'd expect that they would've updated us by now if there was going to be another delay.  99% of us are only getting a single player mode for now, so I can't imagine there's much holding back the release.

Read last night AC id delayed "A few days" , and posted a bugs list.
They will be updating the list as they fix each one.

Maybe by the weekend, but looking at the list im thinking 10 days to 2 weeks is about right.
