Gigabyte and Asrock have released a bios for their x79 boards that will allow you to install software for raid 0 TRIM support.
Does the X79 Dark support this?    How are the usb 3.0 ports and stata3 ports? Do all 8 ram slots work?

Well according to Intel they are not going to make a patch for X79 except for the Enterprise version!  From Intel support on April 10, 2013:::
"What happens is that C600 is a Server chipset so; the software that will recognize all of the features is Intel RSTe.  The OROM that is used with X79 chipsets is not an iRST OROM so; iRST driver was not designed to work with that type of OROMs."

So it appears that if the Gigbyte etc reports are true (should be as member seem to have correct info) what has happend it those companies found a way to Hack the Intel Firmware interface to support RAID.  Use at yourown risk.

The other oem's all pretty much have enabled trim in R0 now since the 11.6 drivers set came out. It is not software that supports this rather a bios with the correct orom.

There is no reason why evga should not be able to do the same.

There is no more risk with either of these bios's that support trim in R0 than any other bios.

I am not in R0 currently but the RIVE has supported trim in R0 for months now, as have other x79 oem's.

    I will buy a RIVE x79 when I upgrade to IB-E cpu in a month, if I don't get a confirmation about raid 0 TRIM on a x79 dark.

Doorules, I thought the X79 used the 3.x.x.x firmware not the 11.x.x. firmware.  At least that is what the X58 and the Intel Users forum says should be used.

It can use either KenMcC. To be honest I am not even sure if the 3.x.x.x drivers allow for trim or not, they are the E driver set. The 11.6 series and up do for sure.

Yes, TRIM works on my DARK under Win2008 R2 with 3.6.0.1086 RSTe driver (downloaded from Intel site when I installed OS) . I have RAID5 with 3 1TB HDDs, and system SSD Intel 320, so TRIM works for SSD drive fine.

I'm pretty sure he is asking if TRIM works on SSDs in RAID0. Not on an SSD with another RAID array present.

Yeah, I'd also like to know about RAID 0 trim as I'd like to run 2 x SSDs on my X79 Dark, possibly more.

This is a bit of a deal breaker, if it can't do it then I'll just go with the RIVF or P9X79 WS :(
