Add on a 12GB version for 4K Surround. Saw Jacob's Twitter post of a 4K Surround setup at BlizzCon. It was sweeeeet!

But with 25 million pixels, and high res texture packs from modern games, you definately will need 12GB.

4k Surround is my plan. Just waiting on nVidia/EVGA to produce the GPU horsepower needed. Quad 12Gb 780Ti Classified would be in my check out cart already.

Thank you,
Monnie

The 4k surround setup looked amazing. The nvidia rep stated that it was running on 3 Titans. Those 4k Panasonics are sweet indeed. I too would like to drop my cash on 780ti's but only if they have 6 or 12gb. Looks like I will be keeping my Titans for a while longer because they are the best cards available for surround setups.

I do not have a high res setup that requires the VRAM, but if I did have it and were paying $700 - $800 when cards are capable of this I would like it to be available to take advantage of it.  I am without a card right now debating on what to do because honestly the it just skipped from 5, 6, 7 series so fast.

I've had

2x570's
2x580's
1x590
2x660's
1x680
1x760
1x780

I bought my 780 Classified and returned it because then the ti was announced but who known what else is going to follow that at this speed.  The difference to me is (now) is that the cards are capable of massive resolution setups and still have a bit of 'nerf' to them.  Instead of just having a little bit faster card it is now about the most capable card for the next gen in resolution.

Titan is a waste to me because I don't need the compute features on it.  It may have more vram but it isn't as fast as the ti, so what is the point.

With all the new games coming out, 3gb of vram isnt enough for us 5760x1080 gamers. I cant even max out bf4 on 1920x1080 because of the vram. Im thinking we need a 780ti w/ 12gb vram.

12gb...are you serious? That is wayyyy down the road. You can max out settings on any game now with 3 to 4gb in surround with no problems.

There are members getting 5GB VRAM usage on BF4 and COD Ghosts with max settings on triple 1440p monitors. Over 6GB with 4K. I got over 3GB VRAM usage on my heavily modded Skyrim @ only 1080p. To be honest you have no idea what you are talking about.

It actually "irks" me that we had a few 4GB variants of 680's, including my present Classy's and still we're only seeing 3GB versions of 780's, now even with the 780Ti release with the SC version being $769 here in Canada....really.....$700 - $769 and we cannot get a 4GB variant ;(

I was speaking from my experience. I have 3 vg248's in nvidia surround with 780 SLI and I have never had any problems even with Crysis 3. Honestly, I forgot about 4k monitors.

Guys, I've been freaked out by the Vram stories.  I myself at 5760x1080p see indications that I am hitting the Vram on BF4 in ultra/high settings.  Than I usually get an average of 30 FPS in certain scenes but spikes up to my Vsync of 60 FPS and drops very quickly even in closed scenes.  I remember what Vram cap was like because I had the same setup with a GTX 680 2 GB in surround.

Anyhow, whether you have SLI or not you will still hit Vram is the argument.  It's really unfortunate we didn't get more than 3 GB in this new high end line while chopping knee caps of those who just purchased a $700-$1000 GPU only a few months ago.

Corrected the post. I meant on triple 1440p monitors. On single monitor is about 2.5GB VRAM which is very sad for a newly released GPU to already be almost out of VRAM. Thank you.

I think too, I would like.
I start to save money, AGAIN and than we will see, I can predict anything.
I don't want to buy GK110 in Mart/April. December/Januar will be great.
I will give excellent offer for my card, same price as reference GTX780 in Belgrade than we will see.
I can't sell now anything because I don't know what EVGA plan for Classified and what will happen.
I mean if one get permission from NVIDIA, all who is interested can make own models with 6GB.

More video mem is not only important for higher resolution, many mods show up few months after good games with big graphic improvement, example mod for 1.5GB Video Memory, mod for 2.0GB, mod for 3GB ... depend on graphic card, and than even on 1920x1080 you need double more memory than default and even when game use only 55% of GPU example. 4-6GB is recommend for such powerful cards.

Question for High Res users 2560x1440 or beyond.
Can the settings be turned down slightly and picture still looks good or at that RES is it more noticeable when all tweaks and not maxed out

Add on a 12GB version for 4K Surround. Saw Jacob's Twitter post of a 4K Surround setup at BlizzCon. It was sweeeeet!

But with 25 million pixels, and high res texture packs from modern games, you definitely will need 12GB. Of course first things first and at least get a 6GB one out so you can at least run modern games at 4K without problems.

Nopes 6GB is just fine for that, as he is using a 3-Way SLI GTX Titan setup

Yeah, for WoW. But modern games use much higher res textures than WoW.

    Battlefield 4 only uses just over 3400MB in Ultra settings @ 5670 x 1200, even @  7680 x 1600 the VRAM usage won't exceed the 4200MB

A 2-Way SLI GTX Titan setup can also run three way 4K with RSI's Star Citizen at about 57 fps + FSAA x4 & AF x16 in Ultra settings Only the game would use about 5600MB of VRAM per card :) The Titan is made to do such workloads and with the new GK110 B1 GPGPU's you can OC them as much as you can with a 780 Ti which is only less than 10% faster than a Titan, so imo Titan wins hands down, no matter how you look at it and along side this the Titan is also seen as an entry level professional Graphics card, it's a 2 in one solution for a decent price, it has been engineered to take on triple 4K reso's without the worry of running out of VRAM.

The VRAM the Titan uses isn't like the common GDDR5 VRAM that a normal GeForce has, it is in fact ECC based, with this it is constantly checking for error codes, which helps it have much longer and more stable runt times in any type of workload As a Die-Hard high end VGA card collector, I always like to get the max out of the VGA cards I collect, also by how they were designed and with what purposes. When I seek or buy a certain high end VGA card, if it's a GeForce 4 Ti 4600, Matrox Parhelia, 3dfx Voodoo5 5500, Geforce GTX 480 Engineering Sample, GeForce Gtx 295 Red Edition Quad SLI set, Radeon 9700 pro or even a GTX Titan, I mainly buy these due to pure interest over need.

But hey, each to their own ya know!

    Battlefield 4 only uses just over 3400MB in Ultra settings @ 5670 x 1200, even @  7680 x 1600 the VRAM usage won't exceed the 4200MB

    Gold Leader,
What monitor setup are you using?
Do you have surround 1600p monitors and monitored the vram usage?

You are saying, the Titan has ECC Memory?

If they made these with 6GB, I'd get one or two... I can't go from 4GB to 3GB.

    CoolerMaster HAF X blue - i7 4790  - Asus Sabertooth Mark 2
    Samsung Pro 512GB SSD - 3TB WD Black -
    8 GB G.Skill 2100
    EVGA GTX 980
    Noctua NH-U12DO
    - Corsair 1000HX

Titan has no ECC memory protection. I'm not sure if the actual memory chips are different/higher quality but the feature is definately disabled.

After all the 780ti seems like a desperate attempt to compete with AMD's 290X and if it came with 6GB Nvidia wouldnt be able to sell it for $699. I have mine lying here on the table still sealed in its box and still not sure if it was a good idea to replace Titan(s) with 780ti(s).

I wouldn't have.  Titan owners should keep their GPUs over a 780ti.

I would personally like to see a 4 or 5GB model of the 780Ti but don't know if that will happen.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

4GB or 5GB would be illogical on a 384bit bus.  6GB or 12GB fits the platform.

I'm in a simular situation, as i don't even trust next years games to stay under 3GB of vRam in only 1920*1080p. Heck Bioshock Inf. pushed out 2.5GB and it's a weak running engine.

I love the lower price of the 780ti but i feel better with my Titan knowing I never need to worry about vram issues even if i sli it and go with a future 4K panel.

My only question to those here, is that while i have BF4, i have yet to play it online yet(too busy). Does any mp maps exceed 3GB of Vram in only 1920*1080p?

     TIA

4.5GB would work buswise right and still leave titan at top with 6?
