This is so upsetting to hear that this is Vram capping BF4 in 5760x1080.  Now I see why my FPS was acting up in surround on ultra/high.  Reason why I bought the dam card in the first place was for it not to be Vram capped like the 680 2GB HC was with BF3.

You are a fine example of the result from people spewing out authoritative posts of  "No one needs more than 3 gb of vram" "More than 3GB is stupid" "I have never seen more than 2gb used, 3gb is overkill" etc..... when in fact they have no real world experience  with surround gaming and / or 4k gaming on their own as they sit there with their single 1080p monitor. The same people say you do not need anti-aliasing at high resolution or high resolution texture packs.

The one that really makes me laugh is " You do not need Anti-aliasing at 4k."  When they have no idea what is displaying 4k.   Sure at a 20" screen, 4k has 220.29 PPI and the"jaggies" would be so small but, on a 65", 4k has 67.78 PPI which is less than a 24" 1080p monitor that is 91.79 PPI.

gtxjackbauer, sorry you got the wrong card for your needs buddy.

Thank you,
Monnie

While what you say is true, you don't sit the same distance from a 20" screen as you do from a 65" screen.  The perceived PPI is relatively the same based on your viewing distance.

I sit 24 inches from my 50" 4k screen in my obutto r3volution cockpit for immersive reasons when gaming. Watching movies I am about 7 feet away.

HeavyHemiVery few people have any experience gaming in 4K for obvious reasons.

True but, they sure come and tell you what hardware you need, do not need without any personal experience

Thank you,
Monnie

I am exactly 25"-26" from my screens and without AA its very visible.  I really like having AA at all costs but I guess you can't have it all even paying premium price anymore.

Okay....then for the same relative PPI you'd have your nose approximately 6" from a 20" screen. Doesn't sound very useful does it. I'm not sure how your relatively unique style applies to everyone else. If I might ask, what 4K display are you using above a 30hz refresh?

At the same time what happened to the Nvidia that used to put a little extra on their Products so we wouldn't hit any cap till next generation?  I guess they got bought out or their share holders are bloodsucking money greedy -insert your own word here-.  This really hurts mentally, physically and financially.

Think of it like this.  Nike shoes.  They make many models and different sizes.   It is up to you to get the right model and size for your needs. Not Nike.

Fair enough but I did buy the 780 classified hydro copper at a premium price which was the fastest single gpu when OC'd.

Just lower the settings and be done with it. There is no god given right to use the ultra/high setting and BF4 is just a game not worth spending money over.Keep the HC and buy new when you really need more vram, as in you already play on low settings but need more.Only option is to get the titan as i dont se AMD 290X as option until they fix the crappy cooler they put on the R9-series.If you paid 800 another 199 is nothing when you already was willing to put up to mutch for a 780 in nicer dress anyway, absolutely not when titan offer so mutch more of what you have use for.

I am going to pretend you did not post this at all. Who the hell would pay $700~$1000 per GPU to lower their settings?!?

Typical NVIDIA. They had to gimp something in the card and this time is the VRAM, since all cores are finally enabled.

Bottom line is, I refuse to pay $700 or $1000 for a gimped GPU, so I will continue to wait.

My point exactly, all these "experts"  do not care to take the time, evaluate and ask what the user's style/needs are before spewing out such opinions.

HeavyHemiIf I might ask, what 4K display are you using above a 30hz refresh?

I bought the Seiki SE50UY04 on release day to hold me over until display tech catches up and then move it to another room in my house. Yes it is 30hz at 4k. For the games / simulations I play it has been great. Even better once I calibrated it. I am a resolution junkie.

There is one guy working on a daughterboard that might get 60hz possibly 120hz at 4k for the Seiki. The panel can handle it, it is the input path and TCON chipset that is the limiter. Considered the new Panasonic Viera TC-L65WT600 but, seems there are 4 vertical lines that seem to be part of the manufacturing. If the daughterboard comes to life, I will get two more Seikis and go surround. If not, I will see what new tech offers in large format displays for surround.

Thank you,
Monnie

You sir are wrong in your theory/opinion.  I don't really have an extra $200 lay around.  Maybe some of use who spend big is a once every few years type of deal and not often as others might think.  Found every piece of change in the couch type of deal.  Would you like to pay my difference? :)  I already lost value because of the price cuts.  I'd have to sell it less than $700 now since I bought it for $800 in august.  Also, my OC'd classy outperforms a stock titan but I think comes even with a stock 780 Ti.

You think they want to sell you a $800 GPU to play at lower settings?!  You think that's what they aim and strive for?!  They even advertise about surround and multi-monitor use.  Think about it sir before typing out nonsense.

Also, the Hydro Copper came with the GPU so that's not going to happen.

It aint nonsence, as i said BF4 is just one game and lower settings IS the solution that aint cost you any money and since you paid 800 you could have waited a few month to get the extra 200 and not be pissed about your misstake, or at least hould out until BF4 was out to see what it needed if you are anal about that game and think playing on highest setting is some kind of right just because the card is a classy and that card in some way is premium whn it not even has enought vram for BF4 in higher res.
I ALWAYS see Classy and Lightning as beginners-card for people that dont know how to or want to do it themself OC and want e-penis because of the name that used to mean something but not anymore rather than making deciscions based on their real needs.

800 is more than enought for highest setting on 1080p even on 1440/1600p it might be enought but it aint a even curve on how mutch money uyou need to soend to be abel to play highets setting on next res up and mostly ist become more expensive than you wanna pay for the small gain at some point. For surround 800 aint enought without compromises and thats the point and there is nothing that say you can use the highest setting when they advertise something to suit it, you need to reserch, reserch and decide if you are willing to compromise to get away cheaper or go all in.

So what if your classy is on par/better than the Ti you CAN OC titan as well and it leave the Classy and Ti in the dust when you use it correctly and exeed 3Gb vram so i am glad i payed the small extra back in february for titans and not held out for the cheaper cards anfd i dont think twice about how mutch i lost on them as i never gonna sell them as they will die before that day comes to get the most back from them.
I am happy without GPU-bugg 2.0 and it takes a highly overclocked Classy to match it, around 1400 or higher.

Why should I pay for YOU misstake? that is backwards, so you then pay what i "lost" on my titans thanks to 780 that flodded the market and i garantee you that it would cost you mutch more than just 100 that is the entryfee as that what you loose by taking the card out of the box and start using it?
Be glad you only lost 100 so far, it will be mutch more when 290X comes with decent cooler and Ti comes in "beginners edition".

You can buy a quadro card that cost more than most want to spend on the whole rig but it aint do jack in games so pricepoint has nothing to do with what a card is capable of or not, just look on AMD 290X, dirtcheap with no cooler on the card that works but still give titan a match for mutch less money 9 month later so if anyone should be "pissed" it is titanowners that spend a hell lot more than 800 on cards, but thats life you loose money from day one on computergear so expect you get the money back that just sick.
I loose pretty mutch money on all cards and even more on the waterblocks as i choose quality over prefitted ones.
Ok i get it you are pissed over your own misstake and try to cover it up but dont make it out to be nvidias for keepig 6Gb exclusoive wher it belongs or anyone elses fault as you bought the darn card and decided 3Gb vram was enought for you needs.

I am going to pretend you did not post this at all. Who the hell would pay $700~$1000 per GPU to lower their settings?!?

Anyone that dont do their reserch has two options, either play at lower settings that is free of charge.
Buy another card and here it would have been the right one to wait for 290X, if not then the adopters fee is in place for titans.
Deliberately or not it is ALWAYS buyers responsibilty tio reserch, reserch and reserch before buying to make sure it is correct, but please keep your head in the sand if you refuse to accept that if you dont do it correct than you have the option to lower settings, there is NO e-pen in playing a game on highets setting on cards that aint suited for it in choosen resolution due to vram shortage.
Vram aint the only gimped thing on the 780 series compared to titan but it always boil down to misstake of buyers that is blamed on nvidia.
Blame AMD for the price as threy was to lazy to long so nvida can have two cards besides 690 in higher region, with stiff competions 9 month ago titan would have been perhaps 600.

Monnie,

CES is around the corner and with it a plethora of new 4K displays. I am hoping for a 55' model of the Panasonic WT-600. If they don't announce it until my build is done, 65' it is.

You sir are not worthy of explaining to.  I guess I messed with another IT-Know-It-All Chair General.  I feel bad for anyone that has considered your advice about computers.  Please go give wrong advice to someone else buddy.  Not me.

If you were robbed, you wouldn't know about it or where to look.

YOU made the mistake by buying a Titan for $1k JUST for gaming.  It's a hybrid card for those that also need DP.  Market niche if you want to call it that.  Anyways...........

Again, my $800 GPU came with a custom board and a WB.  Not just a GPU on air before you confuse yourself.  Your argument "oh you could've spend another 200 for better titan blah blah blah" is irrelevant to me.

Re: will gtx780ti release a 6gb edition? 2013/11/08 12:19:50 (permalink)
I think you guys are forgetting that only if competition makes a higher Vram model will nVidia partners respond, i.e. an AMD partner making an 8GB R9-290/290X.  Those models will come at some point, but seeing how in most benchmarks and including 4K resolutions (which is four 1080p's), GTX780 Ti still manages to beat them all with just 3GB, there isn't much of a threat to GTX780 Ti sales, is there?  You guys can speak with your wallets and just get a R9 for 4GB, but your loyalty to EVGA is in the way and you wouldn't sacrifice performance for Vram, otherwise you'd get/keep a Titan.  Quite the causality situation we have here.

Sure eventually games will use more resources, but you have to keep the card for YEARS to see that.  That being said, nVidia has been doubling Vram every two series generations, so the Maxwell top-end will be a 4GB flagship, meaning nVidia has determined that is what most high-end gamers will demand.  That is how reference Vram is determined, it isn't based on the minority that constantly want more like some o'ya'll-- for that EVGA and other vendors will make pricey exclusive non-reference.  Whoop-dee do, get over the fact that if your group were any bigger then even EVGA would add a seventh SKU, but they haven't yet.

As for Titan, I'm sure it will EOL as GTX780 Ti is about as close as a rumored "Titan Ultra" as can be.

LCRavaMonnie,

CES is around the corner and with it a plethora of new 4K displays. I am hoping for a 55' model of the Panasonic WT-600. If they don't announce it until my build is done, 65' it is.

Ideally I would like to do 65" surround, SST not MST, for my cockpit.  It would be really immersive.

Did you see the information about the 4 vertical lines on the 65" here?

I just see 780Ti as (T)itan L(i)te
gtxjackbauer

Again, take your own advice and do some research before spewing misinformation to the masses.  You mad the mistake on buying a titan when you don't even use DP.  And your argument about waiting makes no sense.  You don't know what the market was going to be like down the road.  You can't wait or you'll always be waiting.

You're missing the whole point and make no sense.

If you think i bought titan for gaming you are way off track(those people already trade for 780 ages ago and cashed in) , i need it for mutch more relevant things than gaming, not my fault it is the best card in the family for solutions that needs more than 3Gb vram.
Custom PCB means jack, WB is something EK is superior to Swiftech on and i will never ever touch their WB again until they shape up big time and i will never pay to mutch for a WC card i can do better with my own workeffort.
I know what the classy HC is and it aint what ist predicessor was that was worthy the name, now it is just a beginners card that comes pre OC, has wb fitted, and after crying babies came out it has the EV-bot again to be little better than it should have been.
If you cant handle the fact that you forgot basic research then i cant help you. Irrelavant or not it was the best option in the green family for your res if you are anal about playing on highest settings in this one game.
I made no misstake by going titan, as i said i need the DP AND since it has 6gb vram it was a bonus for gaming aswell.

ANYONE that are interested do RESERCH and read rumors on multiple sites.
You CAN wait a set amount of time depending on factors and nothng say you need to wait forever but you have to be clare about that you always loose money nomatter houw you do it.
After YOUR reserch YOU make YOUR call, i made mine and i never regret it nor will do despite doing it 9 month ago and payed early adpters fee for it.
You dont know my line of work or if i need DP power or not.

Welcome to the discussion Lehpron   Good to see you.

If nVidia wants my cash, I am not stepping back to a slower card with features such as DP compute that I will not use for extra vram. If I wanted a compute card to game on as well, i would just get quadro k6000's and be done with it because it has 12Gb of vram and 2880 cores

Now, I will gladly give cash to EVGA for a Classified GTX 780Ti with 6gb/12gb of vram.  Evga, cash in hand...waiting on you

Thank you,
Monnie

Well I don't see the GTX 780 Ti as a Titan Ultra, since it's Double Precision Rendering performance comes no where near to that of the GTX Titan, GTX 780 Ti does 233 Gigaflops per sec, GTX Titan does 1.5 Teraflops Per sec, so no it's just a GTX 780 Ti and nothing else. If it would be a Titan Ultra it would of had 6GB of VRAM and a Double Precision performance of at least 2 Teraflops per second Which is greatly lacks

You can't compare a First Class VGA card with a Royal Class VGA card, which the GTX Titan is. The GTX Titan is therefore a class of it's own

Exactly my argument to those who feel nVidia will not allow a GTX 780Ti 6Gb because it will damage Titan sales.   The 780 does not have the compute features so the two are not in direct competition with each other. Back to my post and analogy here: http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2055315

Of course they will.  But they're going to wait until you've all bought a 3gb model first and THEN debut the "new improved" 6gb model for a modest price increase of $200. lol

Why release the best hardware right up front when they can get us to pay for 3 different gpu's this generation if they stagger the releases?  That's how the entire 700-series has worked so far, why should it change now?

Yup that's why I glad I got my titans 8 months ago  bye 1 time & be done with it!!

Maybe you misunderstood me or the language barrier.  I have no need for a Titan and the DP compute so there is no reason for me to buy a card that is 192 cores less, 1ghz slower memory, a premium price for compute features, and reference voltage delivery.

I do however have a need for a Classified GTX 780Ti 6Gb/12Gb

Unless there's memory leakage, going on for those of us at higher than 1080p as there are reports of 1440p being Vram capped even (sheesh!) we'll have to wait for the drivers to mature.  I sure hope this is a memory leakage.  I am not liking this but would like a peace of mind that it is some leakage going on.  To be released 6 months ago and already hit a Vram cap is discriminating to say the least to those of us that are higher resolution than 1080p and the fact that it is advertised to work no problem.  Well, once Vram gets capped your FPS is all over the place and not playable in most cases.  This shouldn't be on the consumer.

Look at it this way for those that won't understand and attack with what I am saying.  If you had no budget and bought 2 or 3 more for SLI you'd still hit the Vram cap!  Spend $2k only to be playing in high settings with no AA. See where I am going with this?

Do you have a link to back this up? Last I heard was they weren't allowing them to make cards with 6GB as they wanted that to stay exclusive to the titans.

Hmm, so it seems that the restriction is still active, I really want to petition Nvidia to release that limitation on Vram, but it seems we'll have to wait til the 800 series unless they decide otherwise before then.

Edit: It also seems odd that the GTX 780 Ti are NOT sold out, maybe they just have a good stock this time around, or maybe they aren't selling at the same rate as past top cards. If so I'd think the lack of a 6GB option is a big factor there.

Again, I agree with you on this. With trends of 1440p,1600p, and 2160p surround gaming, 6Gb / 12Gb cards are what the top tier users are looking for. These are the people who buy Tri and Quad SLI systems and do not buy top of the line cpus, monitors, motherboards, water cooling, etc..... to then be held back by 3Gb of vram.  As well as these are not the people are complaining that card x is $50-$100 more than card z.

This is very disheartening Jacob. If there will be no fully enabled GK110 GPU with 6GB+ VRAM I will not be finishing my build for a while. I can't believe that my GTX 680s that are over a year old have more VRAM that the top of the line that just came out. So lame

Add on a 12GB version for 4K Surround. Saw Jacob's Twitter post of a 4K Surround setup at BlizzCon. It was sweeeeet!
https://twitter.com/EVGA_JacobF/status/398883210060255232/photo/1

But with 25 million pixels, and high res texture packs from modern games, you definately will need 12GB. Of course first things first and at least get a 6GB one out so you can at least run modern games at 4K without problems.
