i just upgraded,,i think?,,from the gtx 580 sli conf to the new gtx 680 sli conf,,and my 1st impression is its got alot of potential,,once there r good drivers.based upon 1 card which is all i could get to work perfectly so far...i have tried both 301.10 and 301.24 in sli and i thought my m/b was suddenly bad,,i could not get sli to work in vantage or 3dm11,,no games installed,,fresh new o/p system install..when enabled my score was less than half of a single card..only change was the gpu's.ALL former settings the same for 580's..
if i tried to do the usaul settings in the control panel,,vsync off,,it would drop the 2nd card and then some..its now working,,BARELY.only because i enabled sli in the pop up window after a fresh clean driver install..if i touch ANYTHING else in the control panel all sli operations ,,which i dont think is operating correctly,,will stop..it could still be running on 1 card only,,just not screwing the other up..
ALL these drivers really suck,,
corporate mentallity,hardware sales 1st,,support 2nd,,when we get around to it..................

FWIW, I couldn't get my machine with the same mobo listed in your sig to even boot windows when I first added the second card.
 
I ended up having to reset the bios to default, then restore the settings I had saved earlier.

just tried vantage,34000+ points in sli,,,3dm11 p15000+..so it looks like its a vantage thing,,still,if i touch ANY settings in the control panel im screwed with sli..rebuilding the system in a new case next week and im trying to figure out if i need a new m/b...in vantage i was seeing down clocking in the cards..that nees to be fixed..control panel??cant touch it as of today..i would be totally screwed settings wise..how does one test pci-e lanes...

your 3dmark 11 score looks ok but vantage should be higher. if the 680 hits 70c+ it will throttle itself down a notch for example my card runs at 1201mhz overclocked, once it hits 70c it will throttle itself down to 1187mhz and will keep going down till the temps drop below 70 and the clock will go back to 1201mhz. is this whats happening? or are you cards running at a much lower speed? i believe the ftw3 has 3 pci express slots, if you were to fill the first 2 up the cards would run at 16x/16x and it you were to use slots 1 and 3 for the cards they would run at 16x/8x. just something to test but it looks like sli is working in 3dmark11 and not vantage.

heat was around 60c in vantage,,using the 2 upper slots,x16x16..the only change was the cards from 580 sli..i thought my m/b died some how in the change,,vantage is still useless in sli,,3dm11 seems to work o.k.p16565..in sli..working..seems to point to drivers?????????????
only thing is others works for both??i dont know,,simple gpu change like so many others in the past and here we r..pci-e 2nd slot some how gone bad???how does one test it?
