lradunovic And what is the point of having 4.0Ghz vs 4.5Ghz when it will make difference of 120 > 130FPS? Not saying you should not overclock but for i7 1366 socket CPUs i believe 4.0Ghz is Golden spot. Because contrary to popular opinion some people use there pc for things other than gaming, 4.5Ghz vs 4Ghz could save me about 3 hours for every 24 hours of rendering I'd otherwise have to do. Time to go try and get the 920 to 4.2Ghz.

Hi guys reporting back after some serious headhaches to figure out what was wrong on my 1st attenmpt (page 6).... first, I have to say I'm using only one 12Gb tri channel kit for the moment, will modify my sig accordingly asap ;) next... as I'm quite new to Intel (changed my quite old opteron setup like 2 months ago) and left many things on [Auto] in setup, except memory that was set to XMP (because it was the only workaround I found for my random disapearing ram, now I know that the problem is SPD and the built-in command rate setting... must use 2T to solve this problem) ok, so after a few hours of testing, I'm reporting back with quite a good news: [see post #250] this needs more tweaking to hit the 80+ Gflops, but I'm on my way (will try to tweak uncore to see if it helps) BTW, this board is weird, I'm not able to go 2:14-16 ram ratio (I know the ram is capable of 2000MHz+ @ 1.65v), cpu-z and memtest86+ always report 2:12... Must add that auto setting on QPI link will always set it to the minimum, I set it to 6.x manually now....

Kram, Remember that the uncore frequency is using a multiplier on the DRAM. Basically assuming he is using a 1.5x multiplier on his gulftown, @1333MHz his Uncore is only 2000MHz! Even if he was running it at 2X he would be at 2666MHz and I am running close to 4000MHz. The Uncore controls everything besides the Core which I assume includes the L1 and L2 cache. It will slow down all the transactions to and from the core.

Kram, I tested both Lu523 and Forzas per your request and they are both stable on my rig too and I am getting around 85Gflops for both of them. Check your PM. The uncore clock is almost as important as the core speed. 4.5GHz core/3.45GHz uncore gets about the same CPU performance as 4.36GHz core/3.94GHz uncore and 4.411GHz Core/3.75GHz uncore. Lu and Forza have very loose memory timings and low uncore (Forza is probably in auto for his uncore so 1.5x his memory... 2400MHz ouch). 50MHz core corresponds to roughly 180MHz Uncore (and 90MHz DDR) with my memory timings and 2x uncore/DRAM ratio.

Just to show you the difference in Uncore frequency. This was with the SAME overclock, but I went to 23X, instead of my 21X. It went up by over 4 Gflops. My Gflops with 21X was 81.8.

Appreciate you running these test. Kind of hard to call that stable. They did pass the test without errors though, just not optimized for the best performance. What would you call it? Stable or not?

SGTHARRY, If my math is right, you increased your uncore by 283MHz so it should be equivalent to 80-85MHz worth of Core frequency. Kram should update your results.
