Hello everybody, I bought one EVGA X58 Classified3 with an Intel Core i7 990X, and two kit of Corsair DDR3 2000 CL.8 1,65V. PSU Corsair AX1200, GPU Gainward NV 570 GTX Phantom, W7 Ultimate 64 bit, CPU Cooler: CM V8 180W I study all of the guide in EVGA forum in order to Overclock my Gultown, and first of all I tried to ovck easy using unloocked multiplier and XMP. The result is ram setted at XMP 1866 MHz 1:14 bclock 142 MHz, and moltiplier of the CPU x31 to get 4.4 GHz stable at 1,4 VCore and +100 mv VTT My problem is to ovck using the BClock, in order to obtain more performance, using BClock = 200 MHz. In fact I try to testing the highest stable isolate bclock and the result is 222 MHz, 180 MHz at +50 mv VTT and 200 MHz at + 100 mv VTT (obvious at minimun CPU multipier x12 and x6 DRAM). 1 h Intel Burn Test "Maximun" is o.k. The first problem is: if i restart the pc, without interruption of the power, and use e-Let utility and bios, a can use this setting, but if i stop the computer and then I try to restart it, the PC no boot anymore. The maximun bClock that permit to view the post and boot, is 154 MHz. If I try to add VTT, steep by steep, to maximun +400 mw VTT no change the situation. Anyone that can help me will be appreciate! Thank-You Note: sorry for my English but I'm Italian and know English very little.

Gulftown's, at least mine DON'T like high Bclks. What are you aiming for as far as an overclock goes? Is vtt the ONLY setting you are adjusting? You have all 6 Dimms populated, correct? Forget about using XMP also. I think we need a LOT more info from you, as far as voltages etc.

I want to ovck for better permormace in power games and Video editing HD. I have as HD one REVO Drive X2 240 Gb PCI-Exp. Using the CPU multiplier and the xmp memory profile, a easily ovck the CPU to 4,4 Ghz, 142 bclock, 1,40 VCore, VTT + 150mV, V Dimm 1,66 V xmp 1866 MHz at 133, 2000 MHz at 142 bClock, IOH VCore 1,35. No other changment. S3 ability and work very vell, Windows 7 Performance Index 7.8 cpu, 7,8 RAM, 7,9 gpu, 7,9 HD Next I try to ovck using the bclock: to find the maximun bclock I only changed the IOH VCore to 1,35V, CPU Vcore (1 V) and other settings in auto mode. The VDimm also automatic, 1,5 V, standard mode. CPU Mulòtiplier x12, DRAM 2:6, With V Drop, Auto mode for UNCORE FREQ and MCH Strap- Without S3 and energi saving.

I have all 6 dim populated from 6x2Gb Corsair Dominator 2000 MHz (1866 at 1,65v 142 bclock). I tried to uswe only one Kit of 3 Dimm without difference,

1866 with all 6 dimms is VERY good! Most can only get around 1600. Just stick with the 142 Bclk, and work up one at a time.Use the lowest Uncore allowed in your bios. Gulftowns don't like, or NEED high Uncore frequency. 4.4 is 4.4, no matter how you get it, either with Bclk or multiplier. Bclk is not the way to go with "X" chips. You don't need to treat them like 920's,950's etc. Use the thing you paid the big $$$$ for, Unlocked multiplier..

What Rev. of the dominator do you have? My 920 D0 could run 2000MHz 8-8-8-21 with 12GB and the Elpida Hyper in my Signature. I feel that the 6 stick Vs 3 stick impact on overclock is unfounded. My Gulftown has gotten close to it but I did not have to raise the bclock. You will not gain much from overclocking the bclock on the gulftown. Why? Because the QPI and CPU multipliers are not fixed or locked unlike the bloomfield. The bclock on the bloomfield controlled the QPI clock and limited the CPU clock. Not the case here. The uncore is also key to performance. The Gulftown enables you to overclock further by only using 1.5x the memory clock but I found it to be useless and have left it at 2x because the memory performance is heavily impacted by the lower uncore. You probably want to publish your BIOS settings using a template and we can help you from there.

Yes, I want to publish my BIOS setting using a template, but unfortunately I don't know this procedure. Thank's for help. The revision of the DDR3 Corsair is 7.1A.

Just fill in the blanks here for your template. Then copy and paste it in your reply. In reference to the 1.5x uncore multi vs a 2x uncore multi; NEVER sacrifice CPU speed to get more memory speed. You will gain from more BClock. CPU cycles are what actually do the work.

And this is coming from a memory vendor so it says a lot! . Don't buy expensive high clock memory! Yes I agree, CPU clock primes over memory clock. But what I meant was that running 2000MHz memory at a 1.5X uncore is a waste because the memory speed is bottlenecked by the uncore. There is no performance gain at all. On the 980X the uncore can be set lower but I have not seen it to help my overclock significantly neither.
