I have a 131-gt-e767 motherboard with a fried component.  I had a swiftech AIO water cooling solution, and the pump fried wiping out the cpu fan header.  In the center of this image you can see q44 is FRIED.  I need a clear image of this board so I can identify q44.  I would guess it's a 12w "n-channel enhancement mosfet", but I would rather confirm it!  I tried getting the info from evga support and they said they couldn't help.  So can someone please take an image of q44, located at the top edge of the board near dimm slot 1 "next to vcore test point".

The image of the voltage readout points on the review does show q44, but the writing on the chip is illegible.  I just need the smd code from q44.  Thanks for the try though!

    EVGA support couldn't help? Strange.

I shouldn't say they wouldn't help, they offered to repair the board for a fee if I sent it in.  Since the burned out chip is less than a dollar it doesn't make sense to spend $80 on repairs.  I have been an electronics engineer for about 25 years, and I am confident I can do the repairs.  Evga support was "unwilling" to identify the component "q44".  I could understand this if it were a schematic, but anyone with a working board can identify components on the pcb.  So they can't be trying to protect intellectual property.

That's sketchy, just had gigabyte refuse to fix my board, and I offered to pay, because of it not having a s/n sticker.

Standard policy for gigabyte. No s/n sticker, no service.

Well the first guy sent me on a wild goose chase found the sticker now though it's on the backside of the 24 pin, not the backside of the board.

I tried to contact support yet again, and got the following:

    EVGA Support Email 509577

Ben Rumsey, thank you for contacting the EVGA Customer Service Team. My name is Erin Washington and I will answer your question today.

If you wish to reply or continue the ticket, you can .

    Your Question:

I have a 131-gt-e767 motherboard with a fried component. I had a swiftech AIO water cooling solution, and the pump fried wiping out the cpu fan header. In the center of this image you can see q44 is FRIED. I need a clear image of this component so I can identify q44. I would guess it's a 12w "n-channel enhancement mosfet", but I would rather confirm it!

    Your Answer:

    Hi Ben,

I'm sorry, but we don't have that sort of detailed information available. As your board is out of warranty, we'd be unable to offer a warranty replacement or repair.

Please contact us with any further questions.

    Regards,
    EVGA Support

I find it hard to believe they have no way of identifying a component on their own board!  I have been an evga fan for over 7 years, but this situation is making me rethink my choice in brands.

That is the same image from the tech review in the first reply, and is not legible.  The picture from Chemceb is very promising, I just need an email of the full image!

I just emailed you two photos. Looks like it says ALHV 13 on the part.

I got the email!  I have some digging to do, as this smd code is not listed in my reference materials.  I will post when I have more info.  Thank you all, especially chemceb for taking the extra time to get the great image!

I have fully repaired the motherboard, sorry for the delay but testing it thoroughly took a while!  I will try to detail my repair procedure for other people with the same situation.  The part in question "q44" was a sc-59 package pnp transistor.  The nxp 2PB710ARL was a good candidate, high current 500mA and 50 volt.  While 500mA may not sound like much, 12v*500mA=6W and is close to the designed cpu fan header wattage.  The voltage rating being 50V is also good as a spinning fan "canned air" can drive voltages high, and while the rest of the motherboard doesn't receive the spike the pnp still has it dropped across the collector - emitter junction.  I confirmed that it was a pnp by the photo Chemceb sent, also by looking into the "controller chip" which is a fintek 71822.  Page 123 of the datasheet for this bios chip has a recommended layout for the pwm fan header, which uses an external mosfet and a pnp transistor.  Since the fried component had the collector "pin 3" connected to the header and the emitter "pin 2" connected to the 12V rail, it was a no-brainer.  To give an idea of the pcb damage, the pcb was charred and the emitter pin was WELDED to the pad!  I cut the pad from the pcb and exposed part of the path and used the pnp to "bridge the gap".  Thanks all for the help!
