Hey guys are you letting win10 just install the drivers seems to have put the most recent in my system from what I can see they are not listed in add/remove programs like when you use DVD?

This is my first time even using win10 I have Windows 10 64 bit version 1607 loaded had so many issues with win 8.1pro it was ridiculous. My windows 8.1 never installed any drivers up to date with my board or video card.

Here is my device manager after install

WELL never mind I will try to upload again the forums is not allowing me to upload them thought it was just MS Edge but on fresh firefox install now and doing it I can get 1 upload in that is all. Internet is fine here 98mb down /  109mb up

Here is screen of 1image not taking the rest just stuck on upload
http://imgur.com/a/hhNcd

OK maybe server updating not sure?

But here are my DM pics

Yes - that is the "Magic" of MS Win10 - you loose all control of updates - because end users do not know what they are doing.

Even if you setup your internet as metered/limited, it may prevent updates from automatically loading - However, you Can NOT choose individual updates

I usually manually load Nvidia drivers after MS updates my system ---Seems Win10 doesn't think Open CL is important enough to auto load the full package

Disable automatic driver updates - Link

excerpt:
While you can't really stop Windows 10 from automatically updating the OS, you can stop it from automatically updating your device drivers.

I found this utility useful. Gives you the ability to hide updates in the same way as in Windows 7. Now they call it a "troubleshooter", but at least it is straight from M$ so it is slightly more trustworthy less likely to break things than 3rd party utilities (in my experience). Scroll down to Download the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package now.

They were never listed. Your usb comes directly from the z170 PCH. All you need to install are the chipset drivers.

strange no sign of them anywhere, I had to use the 8.1's in downloads when I installed on it after build... Those were the ones I was thinking of I just tried to locate them on intel no go. When on 8.1 I did 1 reinstall they installed during cd-rom installation for my Evga board

Download the most CURRENT DRIVERS from EVGA in a primary directly called Z170 Motherboard Drivers, which are:
   a.    .NET Driver, Version 45 or higher
   b.    Audio Driver, Version 431 or higher
   c.    Chipset Driver, Version 10.1.1.7 or higher
   d.    Chipset Network Driver, Version 30.100.1519.08 or higher
   e.     Intel HD Graphics (optional)
   f.     Intel ME (optional)
   g.    USB 3.0 Driver, Version 4.0.0.36, or higher

1) Temporarily is the key word on the MS driver link - still a nice find

In my experience, the utility does work to permanently block specific updates. But if they release a "new" update, it would have to be blocked again. So while it may not permanently block all driver updates, it could be useful to block others.

2) cnet.com in my links is a trustworthy site

Sorry, I in no way intended to say that your links were untrustworthy. I didn't even consider that. What I meant is that when I am messing with the OS, I trust Microsoft slightly more than third party utilities. Unfortunately disabling windows update permanently does compromise security, which is why I personally wouldn't recommend that route. As much as people might think that MS only puts out updates to break things and annoy consumers, they do occasionally patch security flaws too.

Did you try installing the Intel ME drivers? In your post I see you marked them as optional.

I checked MS updates gave me newer version. I got most going and show 1 USB 3.0 controller and it is listed as Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)

I got my phones connected while doing this reply but was luck seen MTP issue goes back years people reinstall phones or PC to fix, I was about to pop my normal win10 version in and install it I am running Windows 10 (N) 64bit version I installed N since I don't use media features but overlooked it on phone USB settings 4x seen install hardware to this PC it cannot read or connect tapped that started installing its own bypass then got stuck needing the media pack 1607

Working action cam now

Think I am going to try Win 8.1 drivers in downloads that Intel calls for win7

That phone issue is a big one seen post back to 2010 or earlier I searched for tool got 3rd party software but offloaded from my phone to PC might a good bit to put in FAQ, I know this USB 3.0 issue is a big deal with Z170 board and later chipsets

Here is the driver that connected the phone finally and fixed MTP issue it installs from phone to PC through phones USB pull down menu "Use USB for more"  (NOTE: This is a Verizon Phone and it was Verizon software installer)
C:\Program Files\Samsung\USB Drivers

Has some funky names on driver folders

This is confusing with USB 3.0   We have a Controller Driver & Controller, Microsoft provides no Intel driver

I have controller from MS installed it is for PCI, no USB 3.0 hub or to that matter are installing it seems on lots of z170, x boards all brands from mixed searches

front hub 0001

ports 0009 & 0008 are not reading got everything down to those 2

I use the front all the time gonna drive me crazy the way I have my machine tucked in lol. Phone and all other storage, usb run fine on all the other ports pulling drivers
USBSTOR.SYS
ssudbus.sys

Not a single driver from disk would load. These seem directly connected with the 3.0 controller

ROOT HUB (xHCI)

Universal Serial Bus controllers

the USB 2.0 issue port drivers are usbccgp.sys
the ROOT HUB (xHCI) is USBHUB3.SYS

Re: Windows 10 drivers in update or download? 2017/02/04 10:33:26 (permalink)
this whole ordeal of drivers was from installing Windows 10 Pro (N) edition "NO MEDIA FEATURES" which is what I wanted and the connection of my Samsung Galaxy S totally ridiculous but at least I found the problem deep in OS and last log lol

I am running Windows 10 x64 Pro - 1607 - current build 14393 with Insider builds on hold. Dumped N version
