fookin EPIC! That's all there is to it.

Alot of people ripped on the story as being cringeworthy and full of lame one liners and I wonder **** they are talking about.

Ok, maybe the story borrowed from different things but it wasn't bad at all.
The CGI and effects.................WOW.................best I've ever seen period.

Watched on IMAX 3d and it seemed like I was literally walking on pandora with those guys. Like I could reach out and grab the vegetation if I wanted.

Anyway, this is by far my new favorite movie. I will definitely be buying this one on Blu-Ray when it releases.

heres my two bits on it. heres the thing. if you watch the trailers for any movie/game, your going to be disapointed, always. but, if your like me, and dont do that kind of thing, most movies and games are great! (most). Avatar was great, its not 100% original story, there are similar stories out there with similar themes. but the one thing i can say is it is very creative, the author worked hard, and the story was great. Visuals are 2nd to none, as the intagration of cgi with the real world is flawless, its crazy! most would think that the vegitation is actually real, when almost all of it isnt! Its also extremely awesome in 3D, i would recommend seeing this one in 3D! its great, worth the money. go see it.....now.... xD

Kaninja, there are some movies that you HAVE to go see in the theater.

Uhm, wait a second, weren't you the guy that couldn't go because you had a kid to watch or something like that?

If I'm right, then nvm my post xD.

I do have kids, but that's no the reason.  It's in support of the projectionist union.

If the theater was giving out free beer and lap-dances and giving away free schwag at the door.......then I still wouldn't go.....well I'd at least have to think about it.

I love the people that say the story was weak yet they know darn well when they saw the movie they were cheering for the main character of the movie to succeed. I noticed people actually cheering outloud next to me in the theater and clapping DURING the movie. These people weren't geeks either.

If you found the movie enjoyable and cheered for the good guys then you have no right in saying the story was weak.

I personally enjoyed this movie very much. Obviously great visuals, although having those 3D glasses on top of my own ones were slightly uncomfortable for almost 3 hours. The plot was simple but effective, and the storytelling was done well. Sorry for those who did not feel the same, and thats not the movie's fault in my opinion. Maybe some people just need to stop watching movies like they're watching the news. Also, if you haven't already paid to watch the movie in a theater, please don't share your perceptions on the quality of the movie, your "insights" would be useless at best.

I saw it last week.  It was supposed to show in 3d but something in the projection unit exploded so we had to just watch it on a regular screen.

it is a badass movie by the way.

Saw it in 3D and it was great.  The story is good but there isn't anything special about it.  The visuals in the movie are absolutely the best there is.  Cameron did an excellent job of creating a world and making the environment look alive.

No!  I think Cameron came up with the movie about 10 or so years ago.  But, the technology for making it wasn't around yet (at least not very cost effective, anyways) so he had to wait until the tech was advanced enough to make it.

Went to go see Avatar on 3D I-Max today - went to the 3:45pm session thinking it would be less crowded.. Got there at 2:30pm and it was already sold out. So was the 7:20pm session. So was the 10:40pm session. Couldn't believe it. Maybe next weekend? Saw "It's Complicated" instead - great movie - chick flick, but pretty damn funny, although for more mature viewers really. I'm determined that the first time I watch Avatar it will be on 3D I-MAX - I've heard that's the best.

I was the Guy, that had the daughter , so I dont go to movies often,  But because of the above recomendation, I decided to leave her with my parents, and take in this movie, Thanks for the recomendation, it was great, enjoyed the move, but was a little suprised what movies cost now, 10.50 X 2 for tickets, $3.50 X 2 for 3D glasses, $2 internet ticket sale service charge, and $18.50 for two large cokes and a large popcorn, add the tax, and just over $50, I'm sure I will be able to buy it for less than that, when it does come out.

Isn't that the truth. It's why I rarely go to the movies.  But this movie, I went to see it twice.  Once in normal 3D with a buddy and another at the Imax 3D which was better quality.  I wanted to experience it with my wife.  True about the cost of movies.  I guess us being older we are spoiled by the dollar matinee

Best thing you can do is go to movie tickets.com and reserve a set at your nearest IMAX. That's what I did and I got in the next day.

Man, I just saw this in 3D and I came away very impressed.  I very much enjoyed the story (though it has been done before), and the visuals were absolutely stunning.

I came away fired up to get my rig set up for 3D, I'll tell you that.

The theater I went to charged $3.50 for the glasses, after the movie there was a box outside the door with a sign on it that said you could recycle your glasses, no one was doing so, I guess the attitude was " I paid for them , there mine.

Question: are they good fo nvidia's 3D, or anything other than saving for the next time that theater offeres a 3D movie ?

In fact, I just tried that.  It appears the answer is not, unfortunately.  Their "Discover 3D" preview requires the red/blue glasses, the real version wants shutter glasses (I only spent a little bit experimenting - there may be a work around I don't know about).

I realized after getting home that the glasses I had were all smudged.  I think that's enough reason for me to go watch it again.

So I kind of broke the boycott and went to see Avatar in 3D.  My Mom had a $25 gift card and had no one to go with....so I begrudgingly went.

I am still in awe.  I was actually hoping to be disappointed as I hate over-hyped movies......this is NOT an over hyped movie.

There is nothing about this movie that I didn't like.....other than the fact that it came to an end.

Cameron's vision of what Pandora would be like was so detailed and visually stunning, I would literally sell the farm tomorrow and move there if I could....even with all the dangerous beasts wanting to eat me.

I cannot wait to own this movie so I can watch it again.

Kaninja score: 9.8/10  (If it could have made me cry at some point it could have earned another .2)
