BiggyNewton Seasonic Prime ti 1kw. Evga 3080 ftw3. No problems thus far.
Hi there. The model is the PRIME TX-1000 ?. How long have you been using these power supplies with the 3090? I have a prime ultra 1000w with a 3090 ftw3 ultra. In 9 months it worked perfect, but now it started to reboot.
Try a new PSU. I went with the SF 1000w Leadex Plat SE, they go on sale for $190 at Newegg. Also - does the system just completely shut off instantly (PSU protect), or does the screen go black and the system keeps running with the fans on the card spinning fast (GPU protect) then reboot. If it's GPU protect you could have a problem with the card. We can't see your youtube video link but if you post the video id code we can look it up.
I believe that it is the protection of the psu. In gmaing the pc turns off completely and after 2 seconds it turns on by itself. I lowered the power limit of the card to 70% (the consumption is close to 300w), I played for hours and I only had a reboot. With the power limit at 100% the restarts were constant. The strange thing is that for 9 months I had no problems and now it begins to turn off. You can find the video I recorded on youtube: "Seasonic prime ultra titanium 1000 reset problem!". It's 34 seconds.
Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpfHUoB41_A I'm also pretty confident it's the PSU going into protect, based on how the card and rear fan shut off at the same time, and the clicking from the PSU relay. It's normal for a MB backlight to stay on for a few seconds after loss of power. sdmf74 I would start with those pigtails
Doesn't look great but he's got 3 cables going to the PSU. But it can't hurt to try other OEM cables or reseating what he has.

Yes, the mb light stays on after the psu is turned off. Do you think the problem is because the psu is "old" (it is the prime ultra model only 2 years old)? At first I thought that the problem was the vga, but when I lowered the power limit to 70% and it works fine, I thought about the .psu.

Some people say that protection circuits degrade over time, making them easier to trip. You could RMA the PSU. There's also plenty of things that change how a GPU draws power and overall stability - the program / game settings / load / resolution / refresh rate / FPS, the bios / firmware, the driver, maybe the CPU / Ram, Windows version, other things. So maybe something else changed on the PC so it's now tripping the PSU. Or maybe the card is degrading and pulling power wrong. Regardless I'd say the most likely solution is a new or different PSU.

Hello world! (1st post) I received my EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra few days ago. When I installed it, with three separate PCIe power cables mind you, I ran few 3DMark benchmarks and things seemed to be well. A nice jump in performance compared to my previous 3070. (I game at 4K60 atm.) But when I launched Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the PC [was game] shut down after few seconds. I had to reset CMOS to make PC boot again. I tried undervolting the card a bit, but the PC crashed again. What a bummer! I've come to the conclusion that my PSU, Seasonic Prime Snow Silent 80+ Ti 750w bought in the Spring of 2019, is just not enough. Yes, it might be that protection that kicks in and turns the whole PC off. Anyway, I've already ordered a new PSU and expect to have it in my hairy paws on Wednesday. What did I get, you might ask? Well, I've been using Seasonic for 20 some years now, and never had any problem with them until now. I sure hope that the Seasonic Prime TX-1000 will do the trick and have no problems feeding my rig. Because if it does, I'll be sure to let Seasonic hear about it! And since my current 750W PSU still has about 9 years of warranty left, I'll contact Seasonic and see what can be done if anything. Cheers!

Yea the OCP is bring tripped by the power spikes. Same thing happens with my existing PSU but only in one game and also in the OCCT Power Stress test. A newer power supply preferably at 1000w or more is what people are recommending for this. I hear that a lot of the Seasonic models are having issues.

was using 3090 FTW3 Ultra + Corsair RMX 750 for two months zero issues, zero crashes.-now comes the trouble ( The build itself i7-9700KF and as well is PSU is 16 month old, was using 1080ti before ) now 3090 FTW3 Ultra started having power spikes problem-shuts off/black screen&freezing during furmark and other heavy loads, can not deliver past 60% power/past 50℃ really didnt want to RMA the card, so i've ordered evga p2 850w if brand new PSU wont solve it, RMA it is Should i have ordered more power than 850w? ordering evga p2 850w was a mistake? Thank you in advance.

EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra Seasonic Platinum 1200W SS-1200P3 Everything works fine until i open new world, and put settings to medium. Once i have it on medium, the PSU trips overvoltage protection, system reboots. I can not get into the game anymore after that. Each time i load the game, the GPU will trip my PSU's over volt protection. It ONLY happens when i lower the settings, and not keep them on VERY HIGH. (i know its irony here) I need to use EVGA Precision to lower the power to 50% reduce my core clock -200 and ram -600 to get back into the game. Then i need to set the game back to VERY HIGH on all settings, and then i can reset the gpu back to default. So i am wanting to put this PSU on the do not buy list, or caution list, unless someone else who has this psu can comment that its just mine.

evilspacemonkey what's the best power supply to use on a rig that has a 3090 and a 3060? From the list it looks like corsairs dominate the list. EVGA supernova's the good ones i hear are made by superflower, so i am guessing superflow Leadex series is another good choice. I just ended up buying a EVGA Supernova 1300W P+ and will test that as soon as i get it to replace the Seasonic. If you do get a corsair, i would recommend only the AX and HX series, as they are the cream of the crop, and you really don't want to cheap out on a PSU for a 3090.

I have a brand new Seasonic TX-850 that I plan on using with a 3080Ti FTW3, but I'm getting wildly conflicting info from various forums and Reddit. The build date of my Seasonic PSU is December 2020 but some have said that the fix has only been implemented from March 2021 onward, so I'm not sure if I should keep it. Is it better to go for a Super Flower?

I think its not fully known which Seasonic models are fully fixed/working without issues. I don't know if the EVGA G6 is still on sale but when I bought it, it was on sale $50 off. Corsair RMX 1000 or a super flower is probably a better choice if you want to be safe. I didn't want to go with Super Flower because you would need to ship it to Taiwan for RMA but other than that I have heard they are very popular. Also I noticed the original post of this thread was never updated. There are probably plenty of other models we don't know about until someone experiences these issues.

I have no idea why they listed 750W. Even if they thought it was ok at one point, it seems pretty clear that it isn't and they should change it. There have been lots of issues with 750W and 850W power supplies not being enough for these cards due to the high current spikes. Some of the 850's are doing ok, but 3080's, 3080ti's and 3090's draw so much power and have such higher current spikes compared to previous generation cards there's just no way they should be saying "yup, 750W, good to go". Especially with all the additional fans and cooling now required, as well as all the RGB everything all the components are adding. Sure, one LED isn't much power, but when you've got fans, LED strips, pump rings, wizbangs lol (now I sound old) that all light up, it adds up.

EXACTLY- I wish they'd officially change the required specs to be more realistic .... ...And if manufacturers would have followed Nvidias tech sheet & used their special 12-pin power plug requirements, probably none of these issues would be seen by all of us for the past year. The higher end cards could even have been built using 2x of the special Nvidia 12-pin plugs ..

I've got a 3080 Ti FTW3 with fan cooling, and a EVGA G5 850w PSU, and things are working fine for me. Although I have the card undervolted a little to keep the temperatures under control (power limit set to 85%). I do experience a little instability under the most intense gaming situations, but haven't had any full system shutdowns (at least not while I'm sitting at the system. I've come back after long pauses while leaving the system on to find it sitting at the login screen after a restart, not sure what's up with that).
My step-up queue just popped, so I'll be upgrading to a 3090 FTW3, plus a hybrid kit whenever those come back in stock. I'm fairly certain I'll need to upgrade the PSU some more, but we'll see what happens when it comes in. Given my current EVGA PSU fried my HDDs the first time I powered it up, I'm not sure I wanna stick with them.

jaxkrabbit Wife's EVGA 750G2 is not cooperating with her new 3080Ti. Computer turns completely off during intense games such as Final Fantasy 15 at 4K or Final Fantasy 14 at 4K. Contacted EVGA support and waiting. They did list 750Watt as OK for a 3080Ti. CPU is a 9900K running stock.
not sure if this helps but I am using a 1000W EVGA new G6 model with 3080TI and i9-10850K, 32 GB ram. It was probably overkill but for the extra $40 or whatever it was I don't recall I rather have piece of mind since i know PSU is one of the most important components to make a system stable, and so far everything has been stable (knocks on wood)

allerka I've got a 3080 Ti FTW3 with fan cooling, and a EVGA G5 850w PSU, and things are working fine for me.
Sounds like it is restarting sometimes if its leaving you at the login screen if you don't have it automatically log you off after a while of inactivity. Might be PSU related but could also be an overclock instability if you have an OC or memory.

Follow up to my post number 666: I replaced my Seasonic Prime Snow Silent 80+ Ti 750W (manufacturing date May 2018) with a Seasonic TX-1000 and have no problems. I will send my old PSU for a RMA today. According to the Seasonic employee I was in contact with, I'll receive Prime TX-750 as a replacement.

Follow up to the EVGA 750G2 and 3080Ti problem. I contacted EVGA. After a few emails they gave me a ticket number for RMA. Are there new batches of 750G2 that has this load problem fixed? I just wonder what EVGA is going to fix here?

Still unsure what to do with my Seasonic TX-850, but I think I'll just keep it at this point. I wouldn't mind going for a 1000W model but I cannot find them in stock anywhere. Sure, Super Flower is an option, but I'd much rather have a US-based RMA if I need to.

paired with an I9 like your 9900k an 850 watt PSU is reccomended. They're more power hungry
