Re: Water Cooling is Dead 2019/12/30 18:21:14 (permalink)
my point exactly - and im offering ideas to improve it
to say it doesn't have flaws or credibility issues - poppycock

to say it won't make any more noise than an all AIO water cooler - mine is silent
a whisper is louder

the thing is that when the fans are on it and mounted on the cpu you will have terrible access to your dimms and visuals to your dimms if using RGB
that means probably removing heatsink to do anything with ram

the mere fact they go "look how well it does". when it's this monsterous Prototype thing and say a untested and unseen product(which might not come to fruition) will do just as well or better
I have serious doubts in their credibility at the moment - they are however a industrial grade cooling solution company so i will give them some balls for trying

can they offer a device that has flex hosing and can mount on the case and do the same thing - making it more like a AIO with a more elegant design that way - thats a product that might turn people heads and go WHAAAA!!!!- COOL
air still goes up into the top of the rad - the solution runs down into the cpu

will they even try for such a solution?
maybe they are but it might be a few years away.... we don't know

Presumably speaking, what happens over time with this thing being top heavy with vibrations?  For example, AIOs use a small housing with built in weak pumps and a cooling plate while this thing will be top heavy even though it will be strapped to the socket/board.

Just forget it and let it swim away.

Re: Water Cooling is Dead 2019/12/31 02:56:30 (permalink)
I have to scratch my head and wonder about those who claim they only want to help improve a product by stating the company has no credibility. And in addition continue to use inaccurate presumptions to base their "strong" opinion as fact that nothing about the product is interesting.

All this while ignoring the fact that a final product is out, only weighs 2.8 pounds (just as heavy as the larger Air Coolers) does not require additional water, in fact doesn't use water but continue to say it does and will increase weight to five plus pounds, is too loud even though at top decibel (38 or 36) is not much louder than the larger Air Coolers, and continue to harp on Delta fans even though the final product will not be using them.

I guess some aren't aware that final products are not prototypes but want to cling to trial and error pre production to justify their intense hatred of progress and ingenuity. In all it is an interesting example of human behavior, and while not a psychologist, it doesn't require a trained eye to see something is a little off balanced.

Too bad a new technological offering cant be critically discussed without all the unfounded hysterical "what-ifs" and emotional diatribe.

The "Sling Poo" tag speaks volumes.

You folks can have the last word.

Since the final product is out, where are the results of head-to-head testing, and some real-world opinions by persons who actually own one?

Re: Water Cooling is Dead 2019/12/31 10:32:27 (permalink)
what planet are u on?

from their own website

Engineered in Austin, Texas
Available Spring 2020

final specification sent to manufacturer in DECEMBER
limited production run at first - 30 in pilot earlier(prototype)

It is not spring yet so their is NO FINAL PRODUCT YET...and if there was?  shouldn't they give a sample to be reviewed
rather than rely on a dubious oversized model as your results then id have more faith in what they have done

what it looks more like is switch and bait - which in some countries could be illegal - show off a prototype and go look see how well it does and then give/put out/sell a model that may suck high wind, that for all intent is not the model that was tested
it like trying to sell a jet eingine that the prototype is 3x larger - u test that then sell the 1/3 version and say it will do the same before you even test the smaller version or disclose the results of a 3d party on it and you pre sell it and then catch the buyers in a switch and bait maneuver

I never said it uses water i said it uses a diaelectric (i suggest you look at heat transfer capacity of fluids) - and that it is not as efficient as water at cooling - water(deionized) is your best coolant - other than liquid mercury which we all know that is not a good idea
others perform worse - still all fluids have weight - and diaelectrics can even cause pitting damage - they are not 100% damage free they are chemicals

and they still don't mention what diaelectric - which we have a right to know

second like i said their is no where on its site that says fluid weight is included in the mechanical weight- it could be? it could be not?
show me the link? page?
proper specs would disclose fluid weight as well as mechanical weight as well and the dialectric used - is it a poison, carcingenic, what??? disclose it

I also said all cooling AIO and coolers leak at some time - so a fluid indicator and refill port would be nice

they just had capital SEED funding in december - from their own website

Look some of what they  are doing is great - but they way they are going about the PR and testing is wrong

------------------------

from the review at Toms hardware

the were using DELTA fans at 2300 RPM on the prototype vs 1450RPM for Noctua
and they did them in reg and push-pull config(2 fans and 4 fans)

had you just increase the noctua fans to the same speed id say the noctua could possibly beat it

2 and  delta fans??? no fair  plus the increase surface area alone???

I don't think Alphacool or EKWB have anything to worry about. At least not for a long long time.

agree

I have serious doubts that it will outperform AIOs

I'm still waiting to see the final product reviewed.  There are a few things I find troubling about their claims.  1) The final product will be smaller.  2) The final product will be quieter.  3) Even with reduced surface area and decreased fan speeds, the final product will perform similarly.

I smell something ...

They're adding more fins to each row & another condenser core to the smaller version.

It could be good but at the end of the day I still say it will block a lot of the system and an AIO is good enough and lets the system be displayed. Guess it depends on the heat we see in the future generation of CPU's.

I like to give products a chance but this thing is not only hideous but will fail miserably.  This thing would have taken off pre-AIOs back in the early-mid 2000s but it shows up 20 years later.  That's like someone coming out with a massive incandescent light bulb for your lamp.  It's old tech, hideous and it won't sell well enough to stay afloat UNLESS the price is just too good to be true.

Other than that...
