Well some how I got this working today. I just decided I would flash everything back to normal and go to 01xC then to 01xD and now it reports as good. Don't know how or why. Get-SpeculationControlSettings reports all good. Well except speculative store bypass, I guess that will take another update we can plead intel for.
 
Regeneration, if you still could update the other bios file with the new microcode I would really appreciate it, or if you have some good links to some good info on how I could do it myself. I could try it too. Just don't want to nerf it all up. I did a little looking on win-raid but the NCPUCODE stuff wasn't clear to me.

Yes the VM driver does not load at the right time, but InSpectre will report protected with it installed regardless. Unless they fixed that bug in InSpectre. Although I think release 8 was still showing false positives. Using PowerShell will give you a true reading on protection.
 
Oh and after reading the TPU thread. I can remember disabling then reenabling the meltdown protection before it started working so their might be something to that.

Honestly, I don't remember. Probably the last official version for ICH10 (11.6).

Have anyone tried to flash the modded rom to the E760 motherboard? The current installed bios on my motherboard is version 83 from the official EVGA page.  I want to update the bios to use the newly bought processor which is i7-980x.  My current PC specs are:

EVGA x58 Classified E760
i7-950 (OCed to 4.2ghz)
Kingston HyperX Fury 4gb x 6sticks (KHX1688C10D3/4G)
Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 FE
Corsair RM1000i

When I installed the newly bought i7-980x, the PC gave me a FF code, then tried to reseat the processor.  Then I received the F3-F6-F3-F6-68 paused 69.  So I removed all the rams to check the processor or if the motherboard will give me a 7F code, but upon doing that, I still receiving the F3-F6-F3-F6-68 paused 69 codes.  So I just put back the i7-950.  The seller said that maybe the motherboard bios isn't compatible with the i7-980x.

Reads more like you got a defective CPU. Your board with BIOS 83, is fully compatible with that processor.

Hello, i am new here. i've just created this account for some help that i need...
 
i have EVGA 141-BL-E757 (EVGA X58 SLI LE) and i've had a old Xeon W3505 with the motherboard for a while, and i switched to Intel Xeon X5675, but my motherboard immediatly gives me code FF, when i put the W3505 back it works.
 
i know i possibly need to update bios, but i'd first want to know if this is safe? i dont want to brick my motherboard.

What board revision do you have? What BIOS is currently on the board?

im not entirely sure when it comes to bios, but i know well my motherboard is rev 1.0

little update: i tried out a xeon x5650, it still gives me code FF, but when i go back and use the W3505 it again works fine (it starts with cycling code f3 and f6, which is normal for me)
 
so it seems like i'll definetly consider a bios update. because ive seen that X5650 is on the supported list of the EVGA 141-BL-E757
 
but then again if the bios update doesnt work then my only option is to do that motherboard modification that i've read about on different forums.

If you have a revision 1.0 board you'll need to do the mod. Also, it is a good idea to update to the latest BIOS. The boot screen tells you the BIOS version.
