Also, what do I short it with? A bit of copper wire?

A bit of solder across or soldering on a piece of copper should do the trick

It should be around your northbridge.

Can you please post some schematics that would explain how this disables the second QPI, as well as why it is required to disable the second QPI?

This is an old thread so i suggest you PM the person of concern in the thread as that is probably the best way to get their attention

I found these pictures, Figures since i was able to figure it out. I should share for others in the future

And

Those are for the E759, E760 & E762 Classified motherboards not the E757. But they're in the right areas of the board.
Which revision is yours? If it's 1.1 or newer you don't need the mod.

After looking closely i realized those pictures are wrong, How do I know the revision of my board?

When I purchased it in 2010 the part number was (E145-2059 )

On the bottom left edge of the board it will say "Rev. 1.0" for example.

@tucker147
Would you have any photo of the soldering done on your SLI LE? I`ve got exactly the same model, same revision and X5677 i would love to have working on this mobo. Also, is bios v83 update mandatory, apart from the mod itself? Lastly, is there any reliable shorting method, safer than soldering, like applying some conductive TIM?

I never did end up using my E757 for Westmere Xeons, I just bought an E762 a while back and modded that for Xeons instead.

Reviving thread, did either of you end up doing the mod and if so do you mind posting the aftermath pics?
