How long does normal shipping take and how much is it gonna run me? In regards to sending my own card back?

After the $80 quote I got from USPS, I went to FedEx and got it shipped for about $65. Still more expensive than what they quoted me online but better than USPS. Should be at EVGA by Friday.

You guys are screwing up real bad paying that much. Dont EVER go to any little "shipping store" or a UPS Store, or anything owned by a third party or franchisee. BTW, all "UPS stores" are franchises and fleece you on the shipping rate and take their own cut. These people are middle men leeches.
You always should do your own shipping and print your own labels.
I can send a GPU fully insured from NC to Cali for under $30 via UPS ground. Its crazy when I hear about people paying as much you as do. With the default $100 insurance, could probably get it under $20 with my eBay store discount + Promo/coupon code.

I've never shipped anything myself so how would I go about doing this? Lmao

You can buy shipping directly from the website of UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.

You'll need a printer and tape to stick the label on the package.  I think every carrier recommends putting the label in a 'pouch' that you can get from them, but I've always just put tape over the entire label and I've never had any issue.

Read on here a couple of days ago that folks figure the retail customers who had requested notifications are getting the lion's share of the new cards are coming out. Don't know if its true, but it makes sense from a commerce perspective. My step 1 was 10/08, so I figure I still have a long wait ahead of me as I think they're still working through release day step-up requests.

Step up is definitely moving slower and slower....
Pretty much everyone is just going to be forced to buy a card outright through the email queue or elsewhere if they want a card before Q2 2021...

I 100% get that EVGA is doing us a massive favor with the step up system. But why offer it all if they can't fill the step ups for weeks and weeks or at this point, literally months and months?

For someone who signed up in October, your patience really needs to be a lot higher than it actually is.

There's a shortage everywhere and Step up is a courtesy for people who have already bought cards to use, not for people who specifically bought a 2xxx series in order to step up and secure their card.

From looking at the main threads for the 3080 it seems like recent batches may have a slightly higher rate of issues.. Pure speculation, but if there are some issues with the recent batch, I would not be surprised if they're looking to fix the issue before sending out more step-ups.

No clue what I'm doing, but having fun trying to do it!

That sucks given how little they seemed to send out last week. And of course the week its possibly my turn, they might ship zero. LOL. Oh, well. PS5 arrives tomorrow, so I have other things to entertain me.

Actually people have a reason to be disappointed. We all knew it was going to be a waiting game. But what we didn't know is that 2 months after the 3080 launch that evga will still be working on its first hour.

I have obtain a 3070 and a 3080 evga card from drops on amazon and newegg. Of course its not the ftw3 but I can resell my cards once I get my ftw3

This.
8 weeks after launch seems like quite a wait...but...

In the past, ~8 weeks has not been unheard of at all so...unfortunately we're not in the territory of "unheard of" yet...

Maybe they will start to fill them more next week....I dunno...

Edit: Digging further back, it looks like years ago, 4, 5, and 6 months were not abnormal...

I should have researched this more. Might be in for the really long haul waiting for this. My guess is the cards will be available to buy regularly before most of us get to step 2...

This is likely why other manufacturers did not do a step up or a notify queue.

Well no one else offers a step up system at all. As far as email queue - I think it's a great system. My one and only complaint with it is that if you singed up for all skus on day 1, you will have the opportunity to buy and flip multiple cards before others will be able to even buy a single 1. That isn't right to me with a release that has this much supply/demand issue.

I'm out. I registered on the 18th, and at the rate things are going, it will be well into next year before they get to me. Best Buy fortunately let me return my 2070 Super out of policy. I had a 1080 Ti already, and as much as enjoyed Minecraft RTX, it's not worth $570. Think I'm going to wait for the 3080 Ti announcement now.

Was there a reason they let you return outside of policy? Did you just ask if you could return?

I've seen this happen a few times and am still surprised this is allowed because usually when you register a product, you no longer have the right to return it to the retailer because it's officially under someone's name.  If these cards are resold, I wonder how the S/N ordeal will be handled?  I can't imagine it would be smooth sailing without the aid of EVGA's customer service to un-register it and re-register it under the new owner.

I think returned cards get sent back to EVGA to be refurbished. Retailers don't sell them used. And yeah, I just went in and asked if I could return it. They didn't give me any trouble about it at all.

Re: Unofficial 3080 Step Up Queue Thread. 2020/11/11 23:34:42 (permalink)
Having done the step up process before, this is an unusually long wait.
So I'm left to infer is the shortage is coming from Nvidia's end, not something EVGA has control over.
From a business perspective, I think anyone would allocate at least a 50-80% card influx to retail sales.
Not just because of sales (cuz im sure they resell the cards they get in their b-stock category, selling one card twice or selling a 3080 and an older used card.) but also to stand a chance against other competitors that, again, don't offer step up, meaning 100% of their inventory can go out to retail and see a greater market share.
But until they sell the used they also take up shelf space in their warehouse, limiting the number of product they can keep in stock, new or old.
Essentially, im sure they're doing the best they can while juggling all the pieces as well.
It's unfortunate that we've not gotten through the first day weeks later.
It's also understandable if they get 50-100 cards a week to see ~15-25 allocated to customers who are paying a reduced price with the added labor and resale costs of second hand hardware.
Im sure people further down the queue would appreciate your cancelation to speed up their step up if you genuinely can't wait though.

Honestly, it's less about the wait and more that I'm not sure I want this particular card anymore. The Ti seems a better value for the money if the rumored pricing is accurate, and the release will definitely be outside my Step up window.

No step 2's this week. Likely won't be any as per one of Jacob's twitter posts....
