It sounds like the .inf mod I did works, but something else is going on with your card. So you get the black screen over hdmi and dp outputs? Card still works fine in windows 11?

The standard 472.12 wouldn't even work on win 10 pro, same error: couldn't find compatible hardware - even though 472.12 was already installed on the computer from my 1070ti. I was however able to install the latest dch drivers on that one, though I needed to install the hotfix too cuz it wasn't working quite right, pure luck that I found (here?) and tried it Unfortunately ltsb isn't having any of that dch business... I just tried again in safe mode and maybe i just didn't pay attention before, but on ltsb the installer call says not compatible with this version of Windows as well as can't find compatible hardware...

I was however able to install the latest dch drivers on that one, though I needed to install the hotfix too cuz it wasn't working quite right, pure luck that I found (here?) and tried it
Unfortunately ltsb isn't having any of that dch business...
As NVIDIA manufactures the driver - doing a mod of the driver itself might cause issues down the road. We suggest if you haven't - try moving your data off of your main drive and perform a clean install.

It would help if you can provide the build. Start > System > About > OS build. Typically, if it says it is incompatible - windows isn't up to date or you might be using an Insider release.

It's win 10 enterprise ltsb 2016 build 14393, the thing is i already had nvidia drivers installed on this os with the 1070ti. I can't even reinstall the one that was on the system a few days ago, 466.something i think.

You are on a build that is too old for the driver to function correctly. Please update your version of Windows 10 to at least the last release before Windows 11.

You cannot expect a card released in 2020 to operate correctly on a build it wasn't designed for. If you do not want to update your Windows - that's okay. We can't force you, but we also will not troubleshoot issues with a driver with an incompatible version of Windows.

The problem is we would not do that for specific builds or drivers. We can only suggest updating your Windows as this should resolve your issues.

Hey if you can point me at a standard driver that came out after the 3080 12gb, i imagine it might solve the issue. The most recent public standard driver is 472.12 released sept 2021, the 3080 in question was released jan 2022 (not 2020). Could be related?

What a drama about Windows 7 from 2009. In addition, security updates and technical support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020. How the latest generation video card can run better on relic OS is beyond my comprehension. Thinking to replace 12GB card with 10GB card as a solution, but not thinking to dich unsupported Window 7 is absolutely mind boggling. EDIT: Forgot to suggest video cards that match Win 7 OS - ATI Radeon HD 4670 or NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

When i try to update that with the inf it pauses and just shows me a list of older gpus, like it wasn't accepting it? If I let it search the whole folder for the driver it says windows determined the driver is up to date. I wonder if I should swap in the 1070 and install the drivers first? I don't get why the drivers I was just using now say not compatible.. Actually I'm going to try overwriting the inf right after it's extracted, though i noticed is missing model 2206, hopefully not the one i have lol (4877) ** So i timed the overwrite well and now it only says not compatible with Windows, it no longer says can't find compatible hardware! I guess that's progress? Lmao

you can install windows 10 then install classic shell which will look just like windows 7 start menu.

No I don't think so, according to my research this version of ltsb is officially supported by 472.12. I'm pretty sure I just need to do a fresh install of the OS, at which point your inf will come in very handy 😉
