Because that’s stealing and I’m not going to do that to EVGA, I’m sending it back to them with a charge back done on my debit card

Thanks. I bought my board on Amazon. I am reaching out to Amazon and my Prime card for support to see if I can return it or also do a chargeback against EVGA. EVGA is no longer supporting this product, even though the socket is still being supported and updated by Intel. They are still releasing CPUs, BIOS updates, microcodes, and security patches, but EVGA is providing nothing. They are essentially not holding up their end of the bargain for selling Z690 and Z790 boards. These security flaws leave your system vulnerable and at security risks, no matter now how little risk you perceive that as.

The worst part is that EVGA claimed a BIOS update was coming prior to cutting off all communication on the matter. I am shocked no lawsuits have been filed yet TBH.

That is actually a very good point tbh.
I might just do the same as I Rma'd my board and they sent me the most beat up motherboard as a replacement, not even sure how that passed their QC.

It happens. I got a replacement z590 once with bent CPU socket pins. It was obvious as soon as I took off the protective cover...I don't know how they even shipped it like that because you need to send them high resolution pictures of your socket before returning a board to them. I demanded a new replacement at that point and got one.

I could have sworn I posted this here already but I can't find the post I thought I'd made and my account says I have no posts, so I guess I didn't.

I emailed support asking if they could please just let me / us know if they were never going to push a bios update for these boards, so we can just accept it and move on with our lives, and they emailed me back saying that they did intend to push 14th gen support for these motherboards.  I'm curious if they are going to pay to have another company make them a bios - I know very little about firmware programming but I'd imagine that for folks who do this, tweaking the existing bios to support these extremely similar CPUs should be pretty straightforward? The company seems like its going to try to continue to exist, at least selling PSUs and maybe some other stuff that don't involve intense PCB engineering, so I'd imagine they wouldn't want to kill their customer's good will. Anyway, here's the email.
I can attach screenshots if you want but they said:

"Hi Max,

Thank you for your e-mail and I can confirm that the BIOS to support the 14th Gen CPUs has been requested however we do not have an ETA for when it will be available. I have also passed along your concern.

Please contact us back if you have any other questions or issues.

Regards,
EVGA"

in regards to my email of
"I bought a EVGA Z690 Dark Kingpin motherboard along with a i5-12600, and I''ve had some fun with BCLK overclocking, but I''m ready to upgrade to a newer cpu with more cores. I''ve had my eye on the 14700k, but currently the board doesn''t support 14th gen intel cpus. I was hoping that eventually EVGA would put out a statement one way or the other about 14th gen support on these motherboards - at some point, someone in the forums who was an EVGA representative said 14th gen Intel support was being worked on, so myself and I think some others have been waiting to pull the trigger on upgrading. If you aren''t planning on releasing this update, can you make this known? We''d all rather just know rather than hold our breaths. If that''s the case I''ll get a 13th gen CPU and call it a day.
Thanks - Max"

Has 'anyone' heard from EVGA on any " potential" bios updates for z490 and z690 boards?
they must be in communications with American Megatrends!!

Sounds like weasel words.
"I can confirm that the BIOS to support the 14th Gen CPUs has been requested"
Well yes, and you are one of many who have requested it. Doesn't mean they are doing it.
"we do not have an ETA for when it will be available"
Again, doesn't say they are doing it, just that they have no ETA.
Both statements are misdirection, also known as weasel words.
At this point, I don't believe they have any intention of posting an update. Once the next gen Intel comes out, EVGA will then say these motherboards are now end of line and are no longer being supported.

yeah, that's the same statement they've been giving for a long time. The customers and support staff have requested it from engineering. I'm not sure there's anybody in engineering anymore...or what management still exists...we have no insight on that at this point, so unless they decide to hire it out to fix the bugs/issues/unsupported-CPUs/vulnerabilities(like the logo one or ME for those who want that), we're not getting anymore updates. Also, if they were going to hire it out, I don't know why they wouldn't have already done that. It shouldn't have taken this long. I'd love to be wrong, but uhhh...I think it's pretty safe to say that if they were going to do it, it'd have been done by now so we're not getting anything.

If that's true, its really disappointing that they can't just own up and say they aren't ever going to release support.

If they do that, they may open themselves up to litigation and/or a forced mass recall. More likely they'll keep responding the same way until they finally dissolve the company, and then it won't matter because once the business entity is dissolved it's kind of hard to get money out of it, and in this case, far more expensive to do than it's worth.

As very long time EVGA customer, I'm talking going back to 99 with a riva tnt2 card and having purchased hundreds of EVGA products I must say I never thought they would do customers so dirty, if they want to become another has been junk peddler then fine so be it, but to say oh we are still going to support our products and play this "it's been requested" game is straight BS, I'm sitting here with a board that in all likely hood never gets any new bios updates even for the bugs they knew darn well about before they decided to go self belly up, I mean why even release a new board if you had no intention of supporting it? Sad to say I've already purchased a replacement board and my days of purchasing any EVGA products are over.

funny thing is its still a Z690 board, MSI MEG ACE, newegg had them for a great price and its a really good board that gets continued updates, What sucks is i really like my Classy board and how it looks so changing to a different board bites but if they are not going to support it then i and no one else really have any other option.

I get it, pretty sure we all do! I moved on months ago to an Asrock Nova Z790. I still have a Classified Z690 (EVGA was blowing them out JUST before the Z790s came out) unpopulated sitting in a Lian Li case. Maybe I'll toss a 13th Gen in there for a relative to help them out, but EVGA as long left building, except for some tech support and warranty fulfillments obligations. When my 2080ti died a few months back, the extended warranty was still in effect, and believe it or not they sent me a NEW GPU! (in the past any warranty covered GPS I received from EVGA have said refurb on them and this card had none of that) I guess they had some NOS lying around so I can't complain. But yeah, they are a mere shell of their prior existence and most of us that are still here, reading and posting on the forum, are the last of a dying breed...

I was considering it, but I think I'll wait for 15th Gen since it's apparently a new socket (LGA 1851). Not much point for me to get another Z790 between now and then. 15th Gen expected either late this year or very early 2025. I'm guessing I'll go with an ASUS motherboard for that, depends what's available.

Yup. Confirmed what we were all pretty sure of: there's no more people to do motherboard BIOS updates. It also gave a pretty good indication that they don't plan to (or know how to manage anymore) outsource a BIOS update to support their motherboards further. So that doesn't really leave a lot of questions unanswered.

That is certainly interesting. I'm not sure why they'd choose to run an unsupported CPU on a motherboard that doesn't even have the correct V/F points or microcode for it.

Edit: I see they've done all their GPU testing since the 14900k launched with that CPU on the z790 Dark with a 330W limit in place.

Edit2: I messaged W1zzard and got a response. He's apparently just running it at default settings...whatever those are lol. I wonder if that means it's running at 13900k clocks.

Even if that motherboard team left, EVGA could contract them or some other company to make one last update to support 14th gen, it is not rocket science.

Their RMA is alive and well! I just sent in my 2080ti and actually got a brand new one back in return!
But as for Bios update, not happening as stated for above for the most obvious of reasons, there is no one to do it...

I just got a call from someone at EVGA notifying me that they have a 14th gen BIOS ready for the Z790! Not currently at home to try it but it’s sitting in my email right now. Other people in this thread, be on the lookout for a call from EVGA!

Same. Chris from EVGA. Thanks Chris if you're seeing this.
FYI this BIOS is for Z790, not Z690. BIOS has apparently been tested by the likes of Vince (KP) and others on the Z790 with 14th Gen.
This will be the final BIOS, although technically it's beta. There won't be one for Z690.
Note that EVGA strongly suggest using the current BIOS unless you want to use a next Gen CPU and only flash to #3 on the Motherboard so you can go back to previous BIOS if any issues.
Good to have the BIOS for reselling the mobo if you're still on 13th Gen though.

…not Z690.

I’m surprised but not. At least for you guys, I hope the best of luck with it.

Until I see official statement from EVGA and link to BIOS, I don't believe nothing.

So, a few questions come to mind reading the posts about this "latest BIOS" for 14th Gen Intel.
  1. Is EVGA going to make this new Z790 BIOS available to all of us or do we have to do something specific to get it?  I Just checked the EVGA Mobo Support webpage for this BIOS and its only showing the old March 2023 versions (for Classified and Dark).
  2. Is the "new" BIOS for both the Classified and Dark Z790?
Thanks
