DreadNaught503 I think we should sign a petition to sue evga for refusing to update the z790 motherboards for 14th gen cpu's. I recently bought a 14700k and a evga z790 classified and no matter what I do I can't get my 14700k to be detected and I can't update to the latest bios.
You want to spend thousands of dollars and a ton of people's time suing because you're out a few hundred dollars? Good luck with that. It has been clear to everyone in any corner of the tech world (if you just spent the time to look) that they're a company on their way down and there's been no product updates for this. It's a board that never had 14th Gen compatibility. It sucks they're not following through with promises made in the forums, but it's not like it was a secret that the boards don't support 14th Gen.
Actually, this can potentially be a class action lawsuit as an EVGA employee, at the time, promised a BIOS update as the boards can, in fact, accommodate 14th Gen CPUs.

It sure can but lets be realistic here, it would take 1-2 years in court to produce a settlement and the lawyers keep 95%+ of the settlement and we end up with pocket change and still no bios. Also I do not think EVGA officially advertised (<-this is the important word) that their motherboards would support 14th gen, only forum posts that can be easily dismissed as mis-communication.

Yeah, this was pretty much my point. Also, they confirmed that they were working on it, but the boards were never marketed as 14th gen compatible. I'm also sure EVGA would argue that they are supporting the board because it (mostly) functions as they originally marketed it and they still provide customer service and a warranty. They just didn't provide support for a new generation of CPUs that didn't exist at the time of launch. Sure, all of us think it would be the proper thing for them to do, but that would require that they have the capability of providing BIOS updates, which as a company, they seem to no longer have. I'm not saying they're not in the wrong here. I'm just saying you'd spend a lot of time and money trying to prove something to a judge and more than likely get nothing in return. If this was a safety issue or a problem with what the board was ever marketed to do, sure, you might have a case. I'm just saying good luck convincing a judge in this case because I don't see it getting far. Then again, if you live in the US, anybody can sue anybody for anything (and they do), so what do I know.

Went to Microcenter and got a z790 Apex Encore this last weekend in Chi-town , while in the store they were taking out all EVGA PSU's from the shelves. They said they were sending them all back due to no warranty in future. OUCH!!!! RIP EVGA.

Oh sh.... that sounds ominous. Have EVGA set a closing date? Better download all the most recent BIOS updates in case I need them later!

Smart move on Microcenter to protect it's customers and avoid them being angry at them.

Same. Having an *almost* "top of the line" build is good enough for me. The way I see it? 5 years from now, I'm going to have an entirely new build anyways. Why fret over a miniscule performance advantage?

I would have dumped the board, there will be updates for windows, the board will need a bios update for those windows changes and it will not get them. EVGA boards are handicapped at this point. There is a reason Kingpin has not come up on any world records with his own product lines as of late, they cannot do it. No new gen II board for the features that give the advantages of 14th gen, ddr5, and the pcie lane full control is also not going to let him on his own board even if it did get a bios update that is not going to happen.

The 14900K gets high latency errors in latency monitor software with the 1.13/2.13 bios. Someone test it and watch you have audio drop outs, also over clocking is impossible with the newest bios... The 14900K is missing a lot of micro code update that intel did...... Though just BECAUSE IT BOOTS does not mean it is a perfect set up, there is 100% stability consistency issues. EVGA where IS THAT FIRMWARE UPDATE. Tested on both z690 DARK and Z790 DARK ON 2 separate systems!

To be fair yes I am on an core i9 14900K / RTX 3090, and you are on a 14600k core i5/ AMD GPU maybe, so really different here.

What GPU are you running? Maybe this is a bug with 14900K specifically

14900KS is being announced soon.... Is this why EVGA was waiting?? Come on EVGA release the firmware update already or ask another 3rd party company to do it for you guys and then audit the firmware update, it should not be this hard or take thing long, no companies take thing long not even knock off branded motherboards

No BIOS updates are coming.. they don't have motherboard division anymore. They promised it.. and they lied to us.
