Given the 14th Gen has been around now for a little while now and EVGA has no idea when it will be released? It's NOT a good look, then you have to wonder about other updates in the future, let alone support and warranty service. They may be aware, but they have no idea what or when, unfortunately. It is very unfortunate it has come down to this. I have been an EVGA fan boy for years ever since the X58. I do have a Z690 I bought when they were blowing them out. But I wouldn't drop the 14900k CPU in it I just got. That combo deal I wrote about above for $838 was worth it to me to try the Asrock Nova. I can always compare the Z690 if there is ever a bios update. I am not claiming I am right or wrong, JUST my thinking on the subject.

Anyone thinks that, when this firmware comes out, that it'll support APO?

I would expect it would. I already enabled APO on the Z690 Dark by modding the 2.13 BIOS.

Could you make a guide for z690 users step by step or video?

I have been sleeping much better after the swap. It really is sad to lose support for such a wonderful motherboard, it just made sense to move on for me.

I had a 2080Ti XC black die on me the other day and I had the extended prepaid warranty active. FWIW EVGA's tech support and warranty claim Dept. is STILL top notch, don't let anyone else tell you any different. Jason in Tech support from Evga told me they have tons of parts for warranty replacements. But... When I ventured into the Bios upgrade for 14th Gen, I had explained I bought a Classified Z790 and returned it for another manufacturer because of the lack of ANY RECENT word from Evga. His response was telling, "I can not blame you". This was because even he didn't know anything about when and/or if it was coming in the foreseeable future. Take that for what its worth, I had hoped for a better response and he genuinely wished had a better one for me. There are people at Evga that still care, they just really don't have answers to give us at the levels we can talk to or communicate with, that really isn't a positive sign in that regard.

Sure, there are certainly a lot of great people still at EVGA, but there are also others who had no problem putting motherboards on the market, in some cases for over $1K, knowing full well that they were going out of business. the activity, and that they would no longer provide even a minimum of firmware/bios/drivers support. I remind you that even before everyone noticed this situation due to the gen14 CPUs, EVGA has never released any driver updates, nor any ME Firmware updates, which is very serious in itself. Then there are other people who even put their names and signatures on these cards, and it doesn't seem to me that they are worried either about the damage to their image or even less about the fate of the users who believed in their brand.

I'm done with EVGA. But let's not get it twisted - they abandoned us first. I would have loved to have kept my Z790 Dark Kingpin if it had 14th gen BIOS support. I would also have loved an EVGA 4090 to go with it. But I guess Andrew Han would rather cut his nose off to spite his own face rather than use his big boy words and negotiate a better deal with Nvidia. Now we have to say goodbye to a once beloved company, as do many of his staff. It really sucks. Either way, I've switched to an Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero. It was 14th gen ready straight out the box, no firmware update required and its working flawlessly. Sold my Z790 Dark Kingpin and made sure the buyer knew it only supported 12/13th gen CPUs. Life goes on I guess

I've used EVGA GPUs/Boards since the late '00s, and I'm sad to see the ship sinking. I returned my classified to NE for a full refund, as it was unopened. I was eagerly looking forward to a 14900k build coming from a 5950x.

Yes this surprises me, Vince having his K|ngP|n brand on a board that's not getting the updates it was supposed to, and Vince apparently not having much to say about it. I wonder if EVGA compensated him for damages already. Screw the ppl who purchased it though, right? EVGA and staff have been nothing short of absolutely awesome for years, so it's frustrating to see that one person (the CEO) can screw over so many people and apparently just not give a crap. I wonder if a class action might adjust that attitude. I realize a lot of it started with NVidia and their tightening the screws, but it's gone beyond that now.

I too, have moved on... As I mentioned before I went out and bought an Asrock Nova 14th Gen, ready right out of the box... I will be turning it on tomorrow... It has a Debug LED, BUT only one unlike EVGA's dual. It has a lot of good things on it, but it does have some short comings I was willing to accept, and that is MY choice... I will NEVER buy Asus again, no matter how good a board etc. I have had REALLY poor customer service, warranty honoring etc. etc. I recently had one their highly regarded routers die in under a year UNDER warranty and let's say the experience left me bitter enough to NEVER get an Asus board. Others may never have an issue, but they can't even spell Evangelion properly on their Premium MB so who knows...

Microcenter matched the Newegg Price for a combo (Nova and 14900K) of $838. I really had no intention of getting a 14900K but the price was doable. It would have been a 14700k instead. The Nova is a nice board. Is it an Asus Apex Encore 2? Nope, not even close, but one is $649 and the Nova was $279... Is the Asus $649 double the performance, not even close, but it will run 8000mhz memory and NOT too many MBs can do that... I will take a decent board with a decent Cpu, I will never had the best of everything so very good works for me!

The Apex does 8000mhz xmp easily if you follow their supported ram list, it will also do 8200-8400mhz very easy with minimal tweaking probably more with 14th gen and the Apex Gen2 board.

Yep it will do 8000mhz+. There is a YouTuber Tech Reviewer who charges $600 a consult to tweak and make recommendations to your machine, has a building service a set amount of $$$ plus parts etc. He takes zero money from anyone when he does his reviews too, and TRUST me is he harsh! He STRONGLEY recommends the Apex Encore, which only has 2 ram slots, which makes it easier for any board to achieve the 8000mhz+ plus it does. He has totally TRASHED the other Asus boards too... By the way, Asrock the Nova CLAIMS it will do 8000mhz ram too, which said YouTuber is going to put to the test... Either way I am happy as I said, $279 vs. $649 I would EXPECT the Asus Apex Encore to do to better!!! I just hope that you won't have EVER have to use Asus Tech/Warranty Support...

A lot of people paid $700 for the board and you asking them to swap it? Maybe you should ask eVGA and their CEO to show some decency. It is amazing how people let companies like eVGA slide away with BS.

I was lucky enough to be able to return my Classified for a refund. It was CLEARLY a better board in certain areas than the Asrock NOVA. However, I do expect that Asrock will be able to support my midrange board with BIOS updates etc. vs. no guaranteed updates from Evga. I really feel for anyone that paid $700 for a board that may OR MAY NOT have full technical bios updates as needed. It's NOT easy to switch after a LARGE investment...

Just switched to 14900KF + APEX ENCORE last week and the result was impressive. With same memory sticks I can easily go 8400mhz and pass many diff stress tests. With Z790 Dark it is quite unstable at 8000mhz and I have to tune ODT manually but it can't go perfect still. Perhaps it is CPU IMC issue, the training result of voltage and timing from APEX is still much better than Dark IMO. We all know that Z790 Dark is not that good on memory overclocking compare with Apex Gen1 from many results on web. Hardware design issue cannot be solved but BIOS can definitely be improved. As a overclocking purpose board, no BIOS update since a beta version at May is really disappointed. First time and last time to try EVGA board. And maybe no chance to try at future.

Yeah the gen II z790 boards have some advanced features to the cpu and ram. The board you bought is holding world records makes OCing to managing the system a breeze. The Kingpin Z790 will never be able to do what the gen II z790 boards can do. The board you got though is insane. That is what some here are not considering, you will get what you paid for on a z790 gen II.
