I have 22 days left on my Step-Up. Is that pushing it way too close? I'm in queue for the ICX upgrade too so hopefully that all works out and resets my step-up.

I'd say 22 days is plenty of time for you to enter the queue.

Hard to tell though, each launch is different. If they DO actually reset the time back to 90 with the iCX upgrade, then yeah, you're more than fine.

What was the retail value of the 1080 SC2 IXC? Was it 649.99 or 679.99?

At 71 days you are just fine

Yeah... roughly 62 days here... purchased my 1080 along with the rest of my PC parts on 2/9.

Guess I'll just suffer with this amazing 1080 until it's time to step up.

on the same boat. I built mine on January 19th. I have around 42 days left.

I sure hope you first timer step ups are not expecting a card anytime soon even if the que flood gates are opened on the 10th.  Also you shouldn't need a bank card/payment until your card is available and ready to ship.  It's just a que.  Best of luck from a guy who stepped up his 980ftw to a 980ti acx2.0 the day it was available and waited 2 months before his turn in que and card became available for shipment :D.

I think I can live with "just" a 1080 for now

Re: Step up program 1080ti 2017/03/09 05:09:50 (permalink)
Can someone help me with this.

I am getting my icX 1070 ftw today. I need to register it myself the customer support told me, because it didn't get registered when it was send out. So I'll do that first today when I get it.

Eventually I want to step up to a 1080ti. But from what I read here on the forum, a lot of customers are stepping up right after they receive their iCX card.
Now here's the question: Can I, for example, use my 1070 iCX card for lets say 45 days and then decide to step-up to a 1080ti? Or do I need to take certain steps before I can do that.

Hopefully you understand my question.

You'll need to register the card first(within 14 days I think?), but you don't have to submit the step-up request right away. Do note that you will have to wait a bit in queue after you request a step up, and how long that will be can vary, but it normally fairly long right when a new card is released.

Ah ok, got you. So I will then first play with my iCX 1070 for a bit (since it's still good enough for what I want). And I will step it up in a two months or so.

Is there an estimate for that que? What are peoples previous experiences?

note that you have 90 days to start the step-up, but once it's started it doesn't matter how long you are in queue, You're good to go

That said, step up time may be a few months if you try to step up right on release date, note that you do get to keep the card and use it while in queue, so even if you apply for step up there's a fair chance you'll be in queue and have the first card to play around with for a good month or two.

Yeah, keep in mind though that this is the Nvidia Refference model only! When I just contacted EVGA I explained that I am also in queue for the ICX upgrade, I was told that I could indeed step-up right now to the 1080Ti refference, however if I were to continu the Icx upgrade I would receive 90 extra days of Step-up. This would give me more time to step up later to a non-refference model (E.g Superclocked/ICX cooled 1080Ti's.) That said though don't expect any Ftw/Hydro copper/Hybrid models on that step-up list. Looking at the past your best chance is 1080Ti Refference, 1080Ti ACX/ICX and 1080Ti Superclocked (?).

It will be added to the actual step-up list soon enough. It has already been announced, now we only got to wait for it to become available in the step-up menu.

Reference models only. There will probably be Three options

Founders Edition
EVGA Blower
ACX/iCX

All will be reference cards though, so no dual bios or extra power phases, etc

I am still trying to get clarification if it is considered reference. I am not sure, since the thermal sensors and fuse do change the pcb layout a little. Will let everyone know when I find out, or we see if it is added to the list.

Oh boo, then getting the ICX or ACX SC variant is pretty slim then right?

edit:
Nvm. SC is actually one of the models offered for the 1080. Hopefully it carries over to the TI.
