rblaes_99 dude. i just went and doubled checked my board and guess what???? I still had a little protective film behind the yellow capacitors. lucky for me i always benchtop my stuff for a few days before a build but it was a PITA to get off and not hit anything in the process. EVGA needs to make a phone call on this and get that changed.
Should have taken a picture and posted it so other could look for the same plastic.
I tried to make one from memory here: Red boxes are areas where they put protective plastic film, the dotted red lines being where they perforated said plastic film at the edge where the covered part transitions from "top" to "side". The effect was that you'd pull from the tab on the top, and it would remove the top piece of film, tearing at the perforations, and leave pieces below the dotted lines above on the "sides" of all the heat-sinks (and I/O shield). Notice the ones between the HS's and the PCI-e slots...and between the left HS and yellow caps. Those were super tricky to get ahold of.

yea, imagine running a custom dual loop H2o build and the hardest part so far was removing the protective plastic on the heatsink?

rblaes_99 i love that evga packs the drivers on a usb drive now. I haven't used a dvd/cd rom in many years. also, the eleet x1 drivers they bundled doesn't work. looks like it is the z490 version... no Biggy. i am sure it is coming. I wonder what will be better for gaming performance: 4000MHz, gear2, 16-19-39 at 1.4V /OR/ 3733, gear1, 16-16-36, 1.4V
Thanks for the details! And wow very nice CPU score! What is the model of your RAM? And are you using all 4 slots or just 2? Also, who makes your RAM? Is it Samsung, Micron or Hynix? Thanks!

I have 2 sticks of the same minus the A lol (32GB total). Only difference is the stock timings are 16-19-39 instead of 16-16-36. Didn't seem to matter though, as I cranked it to 16-16-36 first thing and it was a happy camper. Albeit I did turn the speed down to 3733MHz. Maybe this weekend I'll get to do some more tinkering.

Ok.. Noobish question for the Hive Mind™. I've never had a board with NVMe slots. Everything I've used up to now was always a straight out SATA setup with a mix of traditional platters and SSDs. With this board and the way the NVMe slots alter the SATA ports, would I be able to populate two of the NVMe slots and still have three SATA ports available for SSDs? I've got a Thermaltake AH T600 case that I want to put the Z590 board in, and the case only has space for 3 SSDs, so I'm trying to determine the correct path to take to maximize my storage options. Appreciate any enlightenment you can provide.

yea the way i read it you would still have 4 sata ports (out of the 6) with two NVMes installed.

It is actually possible to do even more than that. If you put your first NVMe drive in the M1 spot (the gen 4 spot), you can put the second NVMe drive in M3 and then have all 6 SATA ports available. You can also put a third NVMe drive on a PCI-e adaptor card and put it in PCIe-slot 3 if you want to maintain all 6 SATA ports.

there are 3 m.2 nvme slots on board. the top slot is gen4 (fastest port) the other two below it are gen3. the board has 6 sata ports. if you use the 2nd m.2 nvme slot, sata port 1 and 2 (top two ports) will be disabled. leaving you with 4 working sata ports. The middle m.2 nvme slot is the one which disables sata 1 and 2. put your two m.2 nvme ssd's in the top and bottom slot, skipping the middle and all 6 sata ports will stay active.

Outstanding. I didn't realize I could save sata ports by using that configuration. Thanks to all for the enlightenment!

Mine failed stopped at 5.5GHz, I don't remember the %. I was really hoping to be able to run 2 cores at 5.4-5.5 and the rest at 5.1-5.3, but to be able to run all at 5.4 is pretty sweet. I did try to turn two cores up to 5.5 (the ones with * on them in Intel's XTU software are supposedly your best cores), and it crashed. I am curious if I can tune it better in the BIOS so that the two good cores are at 5.4 steady and the rest are 5.3. Currently, even with them all set at 5.4, I never see them go there, so I'm curious if there's some setting I need to change. I don't think I really need them at 5.4 (or 5.3) all the time either. I remember there used to be a setting that toggled between locking all the cores at the top speed or letting them downclock for efficiency when they don't need to run that fast and I haven't found it on this board yet. Edit: I misspoke. It doesn't actually fail. It just stops at 100% and says 5.4GHz is my optimal over-clock.

I think they made a mistake with the audio drivers: => Audio Driver - EVGA NU Audio I pretty sure that this driver is not necessary for the Z590 board - or I'm wrong?

The specs list: "Realtek 7.1 Channel HD Audio + EVGA NU Audio" According to the manual, they have both...and the NU Audio is running headphones audio to the front-panel. Your rear i/o panel doesn't use it, but headphones you plug into the front-panel through the HD Audio connector your case comes with would use this audio. So in that case, you really need both drivers.

You're still second on the list that I made, but it was just forum members who posted their queue time here so no idea how many people are actually in that window. I haven't updated it as I haven't seen any movement in a few days. Also, they haven't said when they expect more boards to ship out. Sometimes, if you ask Jacob on twitter real nice-like, he'll give you an estimate, but word of advice would be to treat it only as an estimate. He is not all-knowing and can't really control the shipments. Delays are just sort of to be expected with everything these days.

Judging by the pictures in the manual, it doesn't look like it. Controlling the memory RGB probably has to be done in the BIOS. I can ask our team whether it's possible.

This is one other thing I was hoping for help with too. I couldn't find settings for it in the BIOS. G.Skill has an application you can download to change their memory's RGB, but I haven't downloaded it yet and I'm hoping it's not something I need to keep running in the background or something. I've never had RGB memory before, so this is new to me lol.

tuanmassey can you guys with faster RAM than me please post your memory latency benchmark scores in ns(nano seconds) for me. i use aida64 to test that. i get a measly 60ns lol. Would like to know if it's worth while "downgrading" my two 32GB sticks to four 16GB stick with faster timing and speeds.
I've only done about a half hour to an hour of various stability testing (including some cinebench r23, BF5, memtest64, and about 20 minutes of the aida-64 system stability test...which is probably the only one that counts lol), but so far, these settings seem stabile (the 5.4GHz all-core not so much, and same for tightening timings down to 15-15-36). I ran the OC-robot in bios, which picks 5.4GHz all-core. Then in the Intel XTU, I set the package ratio/voltage tuning mode and set: 1-3 cores 5.4GHz, 4-8 cores 5.3GHz. I turned on TBV, but I don't think it had an effect. While I'm certain I looked for those in the BIOS the other night and couldn't find them, they're right in the CPU information tab in the advanced section...so idk lol but I have them on in BIOS. My memory is set at 16-16-16-36, 3733MHz, gear 1: I just ran it again with this Chrome tab open and it now shows: For reference, even though it wasn't stable, running at 15-15-15-36 with the OC-robot 5.4GHz all-core setting gave this: So it seems that the 3733MHz, gear 1, with 16-16-36 or better will get you to <50ns. going to 15-15-36 didn't buy me much, but I wonder if that's because it wasn't stable (crashed when running aida-64 memory stability test). I was aiming for <50ns, so I'm pretty happy with this. The only thing I'm not sure about is if I can get the BIOS settings to match this XTU setting so I don't have to apply it manually.
