AIDA64 stability test (memory only) ran for just shy of 20 minutes this time. Here's the boxes that came up.. I don't think this is a memory error, this just looks like the stability test was not leaving enough memory free to run other tasks:

my max cpu temps under stress testing hit 77, at stock settings. that's with a CPU only custom loop and a quad rad..... seems like it should be much cooler but maybe these 11900k things are little flame heaters.

crap.... just double checked my loop and i have the cpu block inlet/outlet backwards...... this is why you should never mix bourbon and custom builds kids.

LOL. Did that once when helping a friend build a w/c PC. We were both trying to figure out why the results were horrible. Unfortunately, I can't claim that alcohol or anything else was to blame....

This is just a suggestion, but since this thread was originally focused on board availability and news, etc., maybe someone could start a Z590 FTW owners thread and people could move that discussion to a different thread. It seems like useful technical discussion about the board but it's buried 20+ pages deep in the announcement post, making others less likely to find it in the future.

Oddly enough, I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Not that I haven't enjoyed reading everything about OC and water cooling, etc.. (things I know little about and definitely appreciate the education on!) but I do agree that we're starting to bury the data most folks are looking for in the thread. I'd certainly not mind a thread like the one you suggested. I've some questions of my own that I'd like to ask, but have held off on because I don't want to make it harder for folks to find the drop/queue notifications when they happen. Not sure if the Mods can move the relevant posts to a new thread, or if we should just get one going and redirect to there?

Possibly. Depends on what you're using now vs, what you plan to upgrade to (and why). Are you replacing the board and the CPU, or just the board? If it's just the board, I doubt it. If you're replacing both, maybe, depending on what your current CPU is, and what you're looking to get out of the upgrade. By and large, the jump from 10th to 11th gen didn't excite me enough to go for the 11th gen chip. I'm upgrading from an 17-6700k to an i9-10900k instead, and putting the cost savings towards other components. It's also easier to find the 10th gen chips at realistic prices at present, so for me it made more sense to go that route. Obviously, it's not quite the same scenario, since the 6700k isn't a Z490 compatible chip. However, if you post what you're currently using and what you're thinking of upgrading to, I'm certain that the folks here can give you some pretty good advice on whether it's going to provide you with any significant benefit to make the leap from the 490 to the 590.

In all honestly it's probably not worth the upgrade from a Z490 based system to a Z590. Of course it's hard to say without knowing if you planned to upgrade to a 11 generation Intel chip for PCIe 4.0 or if you are unhappy with the board you currently have. If you bought a Z490 that you don't like or that was on the lower end then an upgrade might be good.

That is a close call. I suppose it would depend on the why (such as, which feature is calling out to you). For me, it was the 20 lanes PCIe 4, to leverage the 3090 Kingpin, a gen 4 m.2, and ram latency leveraging gear 1. I am about to go from z390 to z590, but I have been holding out for the EVGA z590 FTW to be available... All other parts ordered except the specific ram (that waits on MB compatibility).

Sounds like it's at least 2-3 weeks away at best, quite possibly longer. I believe he said some more Z590 FTW boards are coming next week though - someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

From a customer service standpoint, EVGA beats Asus hands down. In my experience the hardware and software is also better.
Asus has a terrible track record for customer service and software development. They still can't get their Aura software to work properly. It's been at least three years, and for most of that it was listed as a beta. It still behaves that way.

No. You can run a 3070 on any pci-e Gen 3 or Gen 4 motherboard. This motherboard is targeted specifically at people who want to run an Intel 11th Gen processor (like 11900k). You can run a 10th Gen cpu on it, but will not have access to all the features.

I'm currently using an MSI z590 right now. set up and everything is simple and it's MSI so I don't question their stuff. Asus is good but I heard they have bad customer rep
