Got the FTW3 installed yesterday. This card is a beast performance wise. Size difference between my 1080 Ti Hybrid vs. the 3080, lol...

I never realized how much smaller the 1080 Ti Hybrid non-FTW3 is than the FTW3 Hybrid.  Wow.

The 3080 still makes my 1080 Ti look "smol", but the 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid is wider, by a pretty notable margin, and a bit longer, I think.  I never did side by side pictures because I was concerned about damaging either card while they weren't in the system (paranoid for life about handling hardware worth over $400 lol)

Holy smokes.  That is absolutely awesome.  You're own design?  Didn't even think of the possibility of a 3D printed case (even though I've thought about making a 3D printed I/O shield for a retro MB that's missing one...).  Looks fantastic.

Tried to post a pic of mine here but keep getting an error.  Tried three different file sizes in case that's the issue, but it doesn't appear to be so.

Was it under 500k?  That is the size limit for attaching a pic here.

Didn't even think of the possibility of a 3D printed case (even though I've thought about making a 3D printed I/O shield for a retro MB that's missing one...).

The purpose of the shield is to shield against RF.  A plastic "shield" is aesthetic with zero functionality.  It needs to be made of metal in order to provide electromagnetic shielding.

I just picked up an Asus 3090 RTX Strix OC from Microcenter.  Like I have another option of getting an EVGA 3090 RTX directly from the source. I love the overall design compared to any other 3090 available.

I'm not feeling the open exposed VGA heat spreader/vent heatsink on the EVGA 3080/3090 RTX.

Bottom line is it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better for cooling to have it exposed, with the fins being arranged slot-to-edge like that.  If they weren't exposed the card would be spitting heat out of every crack it has, instead of most of it being "organized" out the sides evenly.
The main thing I don't like about it is, I'm used to Hybrid cards, these open cards vent heat right on the M.2 & RAM areas which has made me have to insert a few fans in my system to compensate.  Well worth it for the gigantic FPS increase between a 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid & the 3080 FTW3 Ultra though :-P

I actually rely on the air coming through my vertically mounted 3080 FTW3 Ultra to help cool my NVME drive.  I have an older board when M.2 first started being put on them, the Rampage Extreme V Edition 10, and the M.2 has no heat spreader and is right on the edge of the board by the 24pin.  so any air movement over it will cool it off 10 to 15 degrees.  with the fans off on my 3080, my drive sits between 55 and 58.  with fan 3 spilling air over it, it cools it down to 41 to 43.

I just think the bare aluminum approach for the venting looks unaesthetically pleasing to my eye. EVGA - R&D engineering could of went pure copper. Or they could of hid the problem with a black aluminum mesh covering. There's a lot more issues I see with the card's design that kept me from wanting to purchase it. I'm all about aesthetics and performance when it comes to computer hardware. Guys, these cards cost a kidney and liver. We demand the best! I  now have the best in it's class for air cooled. The Asus Rog 3090 RTX Strix OC is a beast! Asus and EVGA always produce amazing products. I just feel EVGA missed the boat with their take on the EVGA 3090 RTX FTW3 fan cooled edition.

Are those support brackets exclusively only for EVGA 3090's? Or are the universal for any 3090 series card?
