Seems there is a lot of Bumping of Week Old and even Older Threads lately in the Computer Industry News Area of the Forum It is like reading a newspaper from last week or the week before that or a ad sale from last month.

discussion is always good even if it's an old news item are you saying you can't be bothered to scroll and look for news articles??? at least the ones at the top have the most current posts or views on them you want a rating system instead?? and then get relegated to crappy stories on top because of who posted or where it came from(news source) front page news(via some guidelines) and back page i for one do not mind looking for a good story - or an old post - to sometimes update it or add more info - rather than create another thread on the same topic - other than an update us on something posted earlier

I was thinking the same thing this morning. The entire first page was nothing but new replies from one user. But, I respect the user, so I chose not to say anything.

Sorry I never said I was Bothered by it only seeing this and have for over a year now. Going through all the Post to a week or two later seems that it is only to bring the thread back into the top I how I see it. But I see your point as well. ty_ger07

not to step on your toes or anything.... i understood your post - i just don't see a solution i do see a point where someone just posts to bump the article rather than have a frank discussion it can be annoying, but i don't see any other solution other than what we do now - except tell people to have frank discussions rather than post to bump an article not like we are seeing necro'd threads from a year ago much less a month

one last thing... id rather post to an older article on the same subject rather than start a new one like how many threads do we need on volta/ampere/turing for instance or even updates on it like a merger might be better getting rid of similar topics and news stories might be a good start - with mergers

This is very True and their are a lot of Threads that need to be merged on the Forum.

That section is cancer as it is with all the spam articles. Some member post any articles they find, instead of focusing on the ones that are interesting to them. Lets take the 10 newest articles from one tech news website and spam them.

It happens in most forums now. All from the same poster trying to get their 100 post count.

Making comments in a thread to join the conversation is ok by me. What I don't like is when they make several random posts in a row.

If you notice bumps that are not staying on topic report it to a moderator and we will look into it. As long as the thread is staying on topic though and the new posts are adding to the discussion a post from a week or two ago doesn't seem unreasonable to get posted to. When it's like a year ago or in some cases five years ago we start to wonder why someone decided to post to it.

So doing this to 20 or 30 Threads in a row is OK though. I Just think going back 4 weeks and tagging very Thread is a little to much. But I see that it is an approved process now.

As long as it's on topic, and it's not violating the TOS it's ok. Everyone has a right to speak about the topic, or respond to another post in a thread. Like was said earlier, as long as it's not several spam posts in a row in one thread.

Purposely bumping a thread is not allowed. People can post in a thread that's a week old, as long as it's not just to spam, or purposely bump a thread. (To be determined by a MOD). I think your complaining just to complain here. You will be able to determine if it's a bump and/or a spam post or not, just by reading it's content.

How many posts have been brought back from the dead and purposely bumped from all these 100 post wonders? Here are just a few: most random thread ever (2010) ugly cars thread (2011) cuteness thread (2009) pet lovers club (2011) forum game (2010) post your desktop (2009) introduce yourself sticky (2011) What did you buy today (2011) Post a picture of your car (2009) These threads had their time, and they died from neglect. I think you should mod these threads that died almost a decade ago.

I am also kind of against it since I don't see many of those threads really needing more then a single post but also feel if someone is really writing a post related to a topic then I guess that it's as valid a post as any other.
