Indeed disabling fast boot does not prevent my notebook from discharging to 0 after a week or so, when I am travelling.

I can confirm my SC-15 is still running down the battery after disabling this stuff. Very strange. I have never had a laptop that has done this before. There has be a setting that will address this right? We just need to find it then share.

I think this problem could be fixed if we find a way to disable Always On USB port. I don't see any setting to turn it off at BIOS setup.

I have had the same problem since purchasing my SC17 last december. Also have taken care to make sure it's not in sleep or hibernate but it's properly shut down and the battery is still draining much faster than should be expected.
I just tolerated this and tried to make sure it didn't get discharged all of the way but today my problem escalated to now the laptop will not operate without being plugged in and the battery status indicator always says 99% not charging. If I unplug the power cable it immediately shuts the machine off like flipping a light switch. I've had older laptops in the past whose batteries had been cycled so many times they couldn't hold a charge well but they would still last 15 or 20 seconds before it turned off.
Something is very wrong here EVGA and we all paid too much money to be having to accept these problems.

I have the SC17 GTX 1070 Gsync model, purchased in Dec 2017, and also encountered same battery draining problem.
In 4 days, with it completely turned off (unplug from outlet, properly shutdown), battery went from 95% to 66%.
EVGA - please find a solution!

Update: I have forwarded the link of this thread to their support, and I expect them to come up with the solution in few days. You are all requested to do the same please, so that at least they know it's a wide spread issue and not an isolated case. If possible, send them a link of this thread.

i have the same drain issue with my sc15. Convinced it's a bios issue.
I believe it is a hardware issue which can't be solved with a BIOS revision.

If you frequently leave your laptop without use for 3 days or more, letting the battery discharge to 0%, it indeed creates a lot of unnecessary wear and tear potentially diminishing the battery's lifetime.

Nope. I don't think so. EVGA techs have pretty strongly hinted that it is a hardware design issue which can't be solved with firmware. There may be more than one source of battery drain, but one source is certainly the buck converter always running for the always-on USB charging which EVGA says was a hardware design decision which cannot be changed with software nor firmware. After more questioning, EVGA has completely stopped discussing the subject publicly which almost always means that there is no hope for any solution and EVGA is trying to avoid a PR issue. Instig8

Yes, certainly. Storing lithium ion either fully drained or fully charged is very bad for it over time. It is less chemically stable in either of those two states which causes coatings to either delaminate (lowers capacity) or burn through (creates drain).

Mine (1070 non-G-Sync) does drain over time, but I've not been able to test it very well. I will and report back.

So this case is a dead end for the laptop owners??
My OLD Toshiba Qosmio (2011) still works OK for general stuff.
Old battery is dead but the new battery (Replaced on Dec 2017) would still show 100% after leaving the PC off for a few days.
Yet this new EVGA SC17 battery would drop even after leaving it for less than 24 hours.
Shouldn't we get some kind of assurance or compensation for this problem?
If the battery is dead, is it hard to change it? Do we need to take apart everything to reach it?

From what I seen in the picture, you will need to remove the cover to replace your battery. The problem is you can't buy the battery. And I don't know for sure if laptop will continue to work via AC power adapter with a dead battery inside. SC17 SC15

Ahhh.. Changing the battery the hard way..
Is there no 3rd party selling compatible batteries?
Even my old Qosmio had batteries sold in ebay & amazon.
Ended up getting it there last time..
It also works without having the battery plugged in, so if this EVGA can't, its quite disappointing (especially after having the battery problem).
I'm afraid once the battery is dead, we wont be able to game anymore.
Just being on the power plug, a little power supply problem and laptop will turn off =( =( =(

+1 on the battery drain when Off. One week is all it takes to go from 100% to 0%.
Though the battery may not last, the laptop should function just fine on AC only with the battery disconnected/dead. I have done that for a good while with my ASUS G73JH which had some pretty bad offbrand batteries on eBay and well, you learn how to deal when on a budget sometimes.
Outside of the drain the rest of this laptop is still one hell of a machine even if it seems odd how space was utilized for a 17".

Its true, until we arrive at a certain point.
When there is instability with the electrical current, you doing heavy gaming and not using the battery, this is simply like having a power outage without battery (Instant dead laptop).
Do this again & again, the laptop will slowly suffer from this, hence reducing lifetime.
Happened to my Toshiba Qosmio when battery died. But I change with new battery and it can work well again.
But definitely not without battery (Unless you are using only for browsing, watching movies, simple work, etc. Not heavy gaming).

The battery isnt that good lasted just over 1 hr stuck a move on just to see how long it would last nothing runing part from nortons and PXM and netflix couldnt watch the hole thing.Even my old asus G752VY battery lasted longer.

Sent this issue straight to EVGA. This is their reply.

This is the normal operation of the computer, the laptop battery is slowly used over time to maintain power to the components including the motherboard. We suggest having the laptop plugged in while it is not being used if possible.

This answer is unacceptable and suggesting to keep the laptop plugged in while it is not being used is completely nonsensical. I'm following up with them at the moment to see if they have any way to fix for this issue.

Idea is great, execution is terrible. I have a Gsync equipped Alienware 15 R3, no battery drain while off here...
EVGA cut a corner somewhere's. Just hope they'll warranty the comps out.. if not you bought a paper weight from a company that promised you an amazing computer...
Why I ONLY buy Alienware laptops now. Sure, some can be faulty due to how parts are made, but this is my 3rd one and flawless build quality, and seemingly so far all my Alienwares have been top notch on life/reliability..

Sounds like this was an intentional slight done because they knew these batteries (that NEEDED to fit inside the marketed thin laptop) they would fail.
