Hi, So, i just experienced another issue with my SC17 1070 non-g sync laptop. I charged my laptop to 100% and put it back a few days ago. Today when i turned it on, i noticed it was fully discharged. What can possibly cause this? I dont use sleep option or hibernate the laptop. It was properly shutdown. The window fast start up is also disabled.

now I noticed mine is discharging VERY slowly even while i use it for example now its at 94%
Though its not like your situation
EVGA SC17 - 1070 No/GSYNC If only the 4K display didn't ghost that much :'(

Same thing here with my 980. When shut down completely, it seems to drain about 5% a day. But when in sleep mode, it drains almost completely in 24 hours.

I am also experiencing this with my SC17. I turned off the laptop at 100%, the next day I turn it on again, it would be around 90%ish..
With all the other laptops I've used, it would normally stay the same as when we shut it down.
Not a big issue, but a weird one.
I'm guessing it's because of the Always On USB port?
But then again, I dont think my old Qosmio with this feature have this issue.

I can confirm that my SC17 1080 also drains the battery when shutoff. I was travelling for a week and the battery went to 0%.

I disabled fast boot and will check if the battery still drains slowly after shutdown.

Hello xvga1 and welcome to the Forums! I am sorry to hear about this issue with your SC17. What was the method you used to shut down? If you used the power button or closed the lid, your power options may be set to sleep, rather than shut down. It is normal for a battery to drain while in sleep mode, or to a much lesser degree, when powered off. However, for the battery to drain fully within a couple days after a proper shut down, this would likely be an issue with the battery. If you would like to troubleshoot this further with me personally, you can feel free to PM me. I can also assist with warranty, if needed, but I would like to try a few things first to see if this is hardware related.

It was proper shutdown, and the laptop wasn't put to sleep etc. I have even disabled fast restart/shutdown in windows 10 settings and still this happens.
I haven't exactly measured discharge rate, but i do know that i left the laptop fully charged and the battery discharged completely while it was properly shut down. This has happened 3 times, and all those times i didn't use laptop for more than a week. But if i use it after a day or two after full discharge, the remaining battery is about 80%, sometimes in 70%.
This is really odd, as when i received my laptop from EVGA, it had 40-50% battery charge. It couldn't have survived what i am experiencing now. The only thing i have done to the laptop is update Bios. No Windows updates, or any software at all.

The battery IS NOT low quality they GETAC the same company that other companies use for their LI-Ion pouch cells :)

Mine also has this issue (SC17 gtx1070 Gsync). Battery would completely discharged after a few days after shutdown. On top of that, whenever put the laptop in sleep mode, it would automatically shutdown after a few hours even when plugged in.

After 1.5 days of being "off", mine discharged from 100% to 90% battery. It being Windows 10 with who knows what sort of default boot optimizations constantly consuming a little battery power, which I haven't altered or disabled, that isn't terrible in my opinion.

If it is hibernating after a few hours when sleeping, then it is normal. It is a setting in the advanced power options, hibernate after 180min is the standard but can be changed.

The laptop continue to discharge completely after 1 day and can't be turned on. I plugged the AC in and it's still can't turn on until I press the clear BIOS button. The supporter refused to send me a battery pack because I'm out of the country and unable to send the laptop back to RMA. it's 2 months new SC17

Can confirm, 3 days without use after proper shutdown, fastboot disabled, battery was at 74%.

I too have this same issue. Full power shutdown, unplug it, use it the next day and the battery has dropped to like 92-94 the next day and starts to charge when turned on.
Going to kill the battery in short while doing that.

So no solution yet since my last comment in Feb? The battery is always not at 100% when you turn it back on the next day. If its a week or a month, it makes sense; but 1 day??
Something wrong with the laptop??
While we are here, care to share what kind of program you are all using with this 4k screen?
VLC looks terribly small, same with Foobar Music player. Other stuff I have no problem being small, but these 2 I need them bigger ><
And which VR would you recommend? Good and affordable price.. Would be a waste not to utilize its power for VR =)

Interesting, my SC 17 1080 has this exact problem. If I do an orderly shutdown and put it away, it's at 0% a week or two later when I come back to it. Something must be draining battery. I blew away the default windows install when I got it and put in my own NVME m.2 drive and ssd storage drive.
Is it the always on USB port that is draining battery possibly? Even with no USB plugged in that might do it.

Shouldn't be the always on usb. I had that with my old Toshiba Qosmio, it doesnt drain that fast.
If it is plugged, yes. But the problem is that nothing is plugged and yet it still drains a decent amount within a day (less than 24 hours, +/- 5 to 20%)

Maybe the HDD is constantly spinning even when off, due to constant power supplied by battery?

Turn off Windows 10 Fast Startup.
Easiest way to disable Fast Startup and Hibernation battery drain is: Windows Key + S -> "Command Prompt" -> Right-click and choose "Run as administrator" -> type in "powercfg -h off" (without quotes of course)
Enjoy.
Disable sleep in Windows power options while you are at it.
I disable hibernation and sleep with every laptop I own. They drain the battery slowly and they increase the risk of inadvertent boot-up inside your backpack leading to an overheated/damaged laptop.

I did that day one to my SC17. Still have about 10-15 percent battery drain per day, when properly shut down.
Anyone from EVGA listening? This is going to destroy our batteries.

Unfortunately, this does not fix my problem. I still get battery drain when I shut down my laptop for few hours/days. I never had this problem with my HP and Toshiba laptop.
