ahmadmob @mugendc4 Thanks for the info. I can confirm the MPC issue is fixed for me after disconnecting my second monitor, I will see if it fixes the YouTube/browser black screen crashes for me but that will take some time as it's not as frequent as the MPC crashes so it's hard to judge this early. Anyway you can temporarily try on one monitor for troubleshooting and to rule the problem out, the MPC crashes should be frequent and easy to troubleshoot. Try on this video with MPC which was crashing every few mins before I disconnected the 2nd monitor: (I can't link here so please remove the space after the https) https ://drive.google.com/file/d/100infrNg8zGBfv-LyVFB6j50gazjCIdv/view?usp=sharing I also never had this issue with 1080 Ti and I had this same setup for 3 years, it only started with the 3090 and new drivers (drivers 456.xx and later). I opened a live chat ticket with Nvidia and gave them all this info and memory dumps, they said they will be researching the problem.
Mine didn't crash as fast yours but I left it looping for a few runs, then it crashed.

I know this fix may not work for all and the rig configuration can play a big role but I fixed (or rather a temporary workaround) my browser crashes by disconnecting my 2nd monitor. The Nvidia drivers since 3000 series broke this somehow. I read in many forums that some multi-monitor configs don't work well with new drivers, that's why I tried to disconnect my 2nd monitor and test in the first place. To all the people who have browser crashes, please give us info on what monitor(s) you have connected.

I don't have TDR issues, my system just blackscreens and restarts completely. Eventviewer shows Bugcheck 0x50. The BSOD always has the same reference to the Nvidia driver and has equal details when I analyze it. So I'm quite certain the drivers play a role here. This happened in Zoom, watching YouTube or playing games. However I feel like this maybe related to my monitor as well, since I updated and swapped out almost anything else by now. I'm using a Samsung Odyssey G9 @240 HZ and 10 Bit Colour with G-Sync over DP1.4. DSC is enabled to achieve that setting.

Geicher Eventviewer shows Bugcheck 0x50.
Could be a different issue as I and most of us get Nvidia related event viewer log after each crash. 0x50 means something is wrong with memory (invalid system memory has been referenced). Did you try replacing your RAM or running it on default settings instead of XMP (if you have that enabled)? To know the cause for sure, you can analyze your minidump memory file in Windows 10 by installing WinDbg from Win 10 store, after analyzing if the faulting application is related to Nvidia then you would know what caused the crash.

You are absolutely right. That was my first thought as well. However after analyzing with WinDBG I found out, the error message is the same all the time. Always the nvidia driver and even further details in WinDBG match! Usually bugchecks and its details are quite random when dealing with memory problems. This seems too specific somehow. Also I ran Memtest many times now. Although I can't be sure it's not the memory, I think it's quite unlikely at this point. It always comes down to these problems: SYMBOL_NAME: nvlddmkm+7aab0e MODULE_NAME: nvlddmkm IMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sys STACK_COMMAND: .thread ; .cxr ; kb BUCKET_ID_FUNC_OFFSET: 7aab0e FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: AV_R_INVALID_nvlddmkm!unknown_function If someone wants to check the whole Minidump, feel free to send me a message. Also I had these crashes in a whole different system. If i remember correctly the only constant was the monitor and the graphics card. Windows was reinstalled after changing to the new system.

Then most likely it's Nvidia driver related, it must've caused memory corruption at the time of the crash that windows threw out a memory related BSOD but the underlying cause was Nvidia as shown in your debug log of the minidump. Do you have any spare monitor to connect and test? I think that's the only way to rule the cause of the problem out.

Unfortunately I do not. But I have now dialed it down to 120 HZ 8 Bit. AFAIK this disables DSC. Maybe this will change the crash behavior.

Came to say that disconnecting one of my two monitors seem to have fixed it as I had frequent crashes in chrome streams before doing so. I have two ASUS 2k VG32VQ 144hz monitors connected to DP. GPU is Evga 3090 xc3 and didn't have this problem with 2080 Super. But even then, this is unacceptable for such an expensive product. Nvidia needs to fix this ASAP!

@blackscs Thanks for the info! Please keep us updated if you continue to have issues or if this workaround stops the crashes. I already reported this to nvidia and now still waiting for them to reply. Anyway as I said before, it can also happen with a one monitor setup and honestly it's hard to know what combination of monitor(s), GPUs and/or drivers trigger these crashes but now I am at least almost certain it has to do with what monitor(s) you have connected and their connection interface. These new drivers that came with the 3000 series definitely broke something.

i don't understand where that multi monitor correlation is coming from but may i say it's got nothing to do from what i see. I personally use 3 monitors hooked up to my this 2 days old EVGA RTX 3090 XC3, 32in Acer Predator XB321HK (g-synch) with 2x LG 27in 27UL500-W and all in 4k resolution. Gaming/mining causes instability. mainly when gaming, often i would alt-tab and my screens would freeze but i can move my cursor around. mind i always have firefox opened (with 5 to 8 tabs) and google chrome (with 75 to 82 tabs). When alt tabing, chrome would have the active tab all blacked out. i did disable hardware acceleration in google chrome but no change, same problem. What WORKS though is ; using MSI Afterburner, i do -100 core clock and all the problems are gone. i overclock the memory to +920. It's been running for 14+ hours and i have done mining and played a game on and off all day and was able to alt-tab without issues. So there is something with the core clock of the card, when it goes too high or something. i will let the that technical aspect to EVGA/Nvidia in hope they can fix ASAP. i thought the problem was fixed since it was released a month or 2 ago but looks like it's not ;/ also, i have a 12in desk fan blowing in my tower because these 3090 gets real hot, mainly the back plate.

This sounds like in very light load the card auto boost to a frequency that is too high. Maybe a bios update or driver update would solve it. But the cost would be a little bit of performance I guess.

probably something that either manufacturers or nvidia need to get done ASAP. it is very annoying. but i have a good feeling it's something about the core clock going too high that causes all these problems we have

ah right, damn, they removed it. take off the spaces from these, this is what i was able to get. it is a "generic" error message so it goes over than usual troubleshooting. but i would suggest un seating the gpu and any other cards then reseat them in their slots. and probably do a windows 10 20H2 install (assuming you using win10) htt ps:// www.tenforums.com/bsod-crashes-debugging/126183-pc-crash-causing-restart .html htt ps:// answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/system-rebooting-event-id-41-event-id-161/fc90046a-bc6f-44ab-81ac-044b69c554ae

Do any of you guys have a kernel memory dump (not a full memory dump or mini dump) after a crash so I can upload to nvidia? They asked me for one and they are gathering as much info as possible. I provided them with a full memory dump but will try to trigger the crash for a kernel memory dump when I get home, I tried to trigger a crash yesterday but I couldn't make it crash with the little time I had. One part of their reply to me: " My name is Ray and your support case was escalated to me for further review. We are currently investigating reports of similar crash also pointing to DPC watchdog violation. I suspect this is related to the issue we are currently investigating, which also involve video playback. The next time you encounter this BSOD can I trouble you to manually trigger a Kernel Memory dump file so we can analyze. Instructions on how to manually trigger Kernel memory crash dump file below. I can submit a new bug with the details you provided to see if our quality lab can replicate the failure. Once we are able to replicate the failure we can have engineering take a look." How to trigger a kernel dump after the crash (remove the space after https since I can't link here): https ://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4641

Not sure if this will help anyone but I remember it was a question I had before in this thread. My PC just blackscreened and I was able to capture the event here: Win+R, Event Viewer, Event Viewer (Local) > Custom Views > Administrative Events Level: Warning Source: Display (Display) Event ID 4101 Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. I know this might be useless information but some people here crashing might be able to see if they are also experiencing this as the cause.

Yah I sometimes also get the exact same 3 consecutive Display warnings in event viewer when I get a black screen while low load or watching a video in a browser. I noticed this and already mentioned it with my report to Nvidia. Here's a screen: I was told by Nvidia that they are working on a fix to this issue after I sent them kernel and mem dumps but no update yet from their side since my previous post here.

Maybe it's premature, but it seems to me that newest 461.51 hotfix driver fixed it. About 4 days now on new driver, browsing with hardware acceleration enabled, and no black screen.

Hey guys, My cousin and I both own an ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3070. Both presented the same black screen issue. Suddenly, screen would disconnect while the computer still worked. I was able to do remote desktop and notice that the card had completely dissapeared from display manager. Solution was to force hibernation and boot up again. System would work until next black screen. This would happen randomly, including in games. Disabling GSync helped delay the problem, but did not solve it. I can now confirm problem is solved with driver 461.51. 4 days and counting without any issues. I recommend you try it.

The 461.51 hotfix driver did it for me. No more tdr/black screen while browsing with hardware acceleration ON. Seems to be the first driver since november, that is working problem-free with my 3080 FTW3 Ultra. Took long enough.

I am still testing the hotfix and have a few questions for you :) In which browser? and if so, were you playing a video or just browsing? Was it a black screen for a few seconds and then successful recover or BSOD/sudden reboot? Thanks!

I'm using 461.51 driver for about 2 weeks now, completely without TDR issues. Before this driver I had quick black screen/driver reset regularly. I'm using Chrome with HW acceleration ON.
