Yes, I agree. You should take your own advice. China owns a small % of our debt. You really think the US strategically would give China the key's to our economy? You really really think that? The US citizens own most of it along with other allied countries. I see which well you're drinking the water from by the answer's you have given. Carry on.

Personally I wish they would pass a balanced budget law. 21,000,000,000,000.00$ and growing. Can't go on forever. As to who holds most of the debt.

http://www.usdebtclock.org Watch the debt grow in real time. Debt per citizen is 65,390$ and growing. Some how I doubt it will ever get paid off. How much more before the bottom falls out? 347,000$ a year in interest alone. 909,000,000,000.00$ budget deficit. Don't worry, we will print some more money to borrow.

This is starting to get off track and becoming a bit to focused on the government. Keep in mind the topic is about tariffs and the effect they will have on consumers. None of us are going to work out new government trade deals with China or balance the federal budget but we all are going to be effected by the tariffs.

Part of the tariffs and trade deal will have an effect on the debt. If we can force China and other countries to open up their markets to US companies goods and services, that will bring more money into the US. The companies will make more profit and in turn pay more in taxes. The more tax money that flow into the treasury the less we have to barrow. Yeah right lol, they will spend it anyway.

7% is by no means an insignificant holding. China would not do it because it would hurt them as well, but a 7% dump of treasuries onto the open market very much would crash our economy. Far more so than 2008. There would be no recovery. The Fed trying to buy it all back by printing $$$ would only exacerbate the crises, the USD would become the new Venezuelan bolivar overnight, That aside, the path has been chosen for better or worse and we’ll all see how it plays out. It won’t be all sunshine and roses by any stretch, real pain is coming in the form of inflation regardless. Even if China wanted to continue devaluing their currency - they simply couldn’t. That would create too much domestic unrest in China. But... we all digress..

Oh for christ sake. It will NOT crash our economy. LOL! Stop with the fear mongering. China owns just over $1 trillion dollars. Our stock market losing ONLY 1000 points is $1 trillion dollars worth. We haven't crashed. Let's move on from this fabricated hysteria.
