Hey guys! So very recently I had to send my 1080ti FTW3 card in for RMA as it was getting extremely hot in game anywhere from 80-90c I got my card or a refurbed one back from EVGA and it has been working great until today.

Today my steam auto updated my precision XOC and ever since that update I can’t play a game for 5 minutes without my game crashing, and it even gets to the point where the computer restarts itself.

Is there a known issue with the new update on XOC? If so is there anyway to downgrade it?

Is my GPU bad again?

Thanks for all the help, I apologize if any of these questions are stupid as I am so new to pc gaming.

I have a Corsair 460x case,

Intel i7 6700k
16gb ripjaws g skill DDR4
120 GB SSD
850 watt Corsair PSU cx850m
MSI Z170a pc mate motherboard
Corsair h55 AIO CPU cooler

Uninstall XOC 6.2.4 cleanly and re-install 6.2.3 and report back.

*reinstall the standalone version from the evga website, rather than the steam version.

I will try that tonight after work, I also noticed that the game that I mainly play had a very small update, PUBG had a 40MB update before all of this started happening. I don’t think that would have caused it but it’s on my radar as possibilities.

I’ll go through and uninstall all XOC from my system and download the 6.2.3 standalone on EVGAs website.

okay so far it has been good, I deleted all of the EVGA Files from the system that I could i Downloaded the standalone version of XOC from EVGA website of the older version. i have been able to atleast play 1 game so far of PUBG. I am going to attempt to play for a few hours to see how it works after that. The temp this last game got to 70C on the GPU temp sensor. To my knowledge that is a desent temp for running a game on ultra settings, feel free to tell me if I am wrong on that.

I appreciate all the help so far from everyone. ill keep you guys posted on what happens after the hour or so of game play and if i experience any issues

Tried playing and all the sensors hit about 70c and then the game crashed, not like the GPU crashed but the game itself. I don’t know if it would have anything to do with my GPU or my computer but over tried uninstalling and reinstalling PUBG as well. I’m kinda at a lost. The last time this happened I underclocked my GPU by like 200 MHz and it worked for some odd reason. I’ll try that again to see if that works. I know they are doing maitnence on the server tonight. So I guess I’ll see if after the maintenance if it works.

I’m kinda just getting upset about the whole thing. I know it could very well be the game but man, I just feel like it’s one thing after another

Have you tried any other games? Could it be that PUBG is still poorly optimized? Do you have a way to test the GPU in another computer? Games crashing and/or restarting of the PC could point to a PSU going bad.

Everything on like PC parts picker and bottelneck simulators say they should work fine together. And I mean they have that’s the thing. I was able to game for about a week successfully at amazing frame rates exc. and now all the sudden I’m back to the game crashing. It most certainly could be the game, I don’t doubt it but to me it just seems so strange.

I could talk to a friend to try it in his rig to see how it would work but i don’t know for sure. He has a older system.

I will try to play another game but I only have like CSGO and I don’t think that it’s as demanding as PUBG is

I’m sorry if I sound dumb I just don’t understand it and it irritates me cause of how much time and money I have put into my pc.

did an over lay install so will do a better testing later and clear out old setting

    1. Only see 7 items to monitor and 2 are fan speed using one GTX1080 Ti

    2. LCD display on G19 keygoard is pre-set to SMALL and I can't read it  - We had small-med and large before
and unwinder at least had extra large.

The over all layout does look good just tell us how to get to the secret setting options :-)

Computer restarting itself could mean you have a defective gpu, psu, or your hardware is overheating. Games crashing could be due to software conflicts, or unstable overclocks.

Just played about 30 minutes of CSGO on max settings and the gpu temps never reached 50c so I think it has something to do with PUBG

sorry I had too many new XOC update threads open as I was testing the new update
    yours was the newest

You may want to drop back a version

to monitor items  try resizing the monitor window and you will see GPU and System pop up but only while you hold down the mouse key then they are gone

you MUST have the main XOC window open in the back ground then click it to make the other options stay put. this with Windows 10.

this may help you with your testing of your problem

Have you tried newer drivers? 391.24 and 391.35 have been out for a while. My 1080TI hybrid FTW3 is running fine with the former for almost 2 weeks. You could try wiping PXOC, DDU+new drivers and just install base drivers and PhysX(perform clean install).

I just ran a unifier Valley Benchmark (basic Edition)

    The results were:

    FPS:161.5
    Score: 6755

    MIN FPS: 37.9
    MAX FPS 236.7

    CPU model: intel core I7 6700k @ 4.0GHZ
GPU model: nvidia GeForce GTX 1080ti

    Settings were
    Render: direct3d11
    Mode: 1920x1080 full screen
    Preset: custom
    Quality: ultra

Idk if that says anything about it but it seem to run very smooth and fine.

I am on the most recent nvidia driver, I’m gunna try to reinstall right now

It seems like the gpu when ever the game crashes the 3 status LEDs all flash green for like 20 seconds then go back to blue. I don’t know if that would be a sign of a bad GPU or not.

I've been using the newest 6.24 Precision XOC, it works fine with 1080Ti FTW 3 just like before.
For anyone who doesn't know how to use Precision XOC, you have to click on all the thermal sensors on its hardware monitor to make sure the fan profile to work.
Or the fans won't work accordingly or just stop spinning completely due to no sensors is monitored on the VRAM and power temps and causes components overheat.
Once the monitoring is done, save a profile. Close the Precision XOC and reopen it.

I was able to play about 10 full games for a total time of about a hour on PUBG after they did their server maitenece and patch. I believe it’s just the game being poorest optimized as I experienced no issues last night for that 1 hour. I’ll try to game for 3 hours tonight to see how it goes

Just to keep everyone updated, last night I was avaiable to play for 4 consecutive hours with no issue, the game played great on ultra settings and I had no hiccups at all.

So the conclusion I think I have come to is that the game updated and didn’t run as properly as it did because it wasn’t as optimized.

Thank you all for all the help!!

EVGA Precision X v6.2.3 has been working great for me the last 2 months.

With one of those cool Ebay fake GTX 750 Ti cards I got for $37.   HA.
Pretty sure it is actually some kinda frankencard based on the 550, but
    XOC works with it great.

Just ordered a legit EVGA 1030 and 1060 6gb card to throw at my little Dell Workstation
I am converting into a gaming box.   One would hope the XOC will work with those as
well as it does with this counterfeit card.   I will find out soon.

@OP.  Glad you got your game sorted out there.   Just latched onto your thread here
mostly to test my new account out.
