Re: Precision X1 Will Not Open 2021/01/23 05:47:31 (permalink)
Came here just to post in this thread.

I just bought an EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 and installed it last night. This is my first time using Precision X1 and it won't launch like some of you are describing. It shows the giant logo and then immediately closes.

I should note that the first time I launched it, it allowed me to update my firmware and then closed. At least I assume it was successful, it amped my fans up to full for a few minutes then said it was done and closed.

Haven't been able to launch it since. I've tried all the suggested fixes of re-installing, deleting the user config file, etc.

I even tried disabling plugins in iCue as another user mentioned. I DO NOT have multiple GPUs, though I did replace a GPU without reformatting. My device manager shows only a single GPU.

Thought so..I think it may be a permissions issue that has happened before to other people running Win10 Pro.

Right-click on the PX18.exe in the Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1 folder and go to the Properties, then the Security tab and make sure the user has permissions..Edit the permissions to give full control if not..See how that rolls.

I would disregard that post I made and you quoted above, for now..They're two different versions in different locations.

Hi,

If Precision X1 v1.1.7.0 is not running after the firmware update, try a few steps to get it to work again

Uninstall PX1
Re-seat the GPU in the PCIE slot
Run DDU, or Display Driver Uninstaller, then re-install the Nvidia Driver
Re-install PX1

Lastly, you can try checking the Windows Event Viewer to see if there are any application or error events.

Regards,
Peter N

Re: Precision X1 Will Not Open 2021/03/06 17:46:39 (permalink)
I think maybe I see a possibility to solve one or both of Randomsanity's and Hyuiop's issue if it's related to multi GPU's as mentioned previously. Randomsanity you say you "I DO NOT have multiple GPUs, though I did replace a GPU without reformatting."  Randomsanity:  Does your board or CPU have integrated video?  Is it disabled vs/ selected as 2nd Display?  Is there a ghosted adapter showing up in safe mode ( Even "MS Basic" )?  Hyuiop:  Your System ID in the dump above is a Lenovo Laptop so you must be using EGPU adapter or external Enclosure, and for sure you've got another video solution--is it disabled rather than selected as Secondary Display?  Another possibility is perhaps you've got another competing utility loading on startup without a splash screen with a "minimize to tray option"?  GL and hope one/both of those are it and solves it for you both!

That did it! Disable the GTX1650 in device manager and PX1 fired right up.

Many thanks, you can re-enable the other card once it is running with no issues that I can see. It would be nice if it had an adapter selection like Afterburner as anyone with two cards can't have PX1 run on start up at this point.

IF you have a KINGPIN, this answer is for you!
I went through the situation of opening the precision x1, modifying the OLED display and after that the app crashes and it is no longer possible to open it and change the information that appears on the board's OLED.
The solution is to unplug the computer, leave it until all the power is gone. In this way the board's oled configuration resets to the standard, so it is possible to open the precision x1 again and use it normally.
So far it seems that it is the selection of the voltage monitoring that generates this.

Just leaving this here, EVGA_Precision_X1_1.1.7.0 is the last version to support Windows 7. Anything newer just crashes.

Re: Precision X1 Will Not Open 2021/04/18 13:34:39 (permalink)
So this fixed my issue as well but since this is uncharted territory for me, I just want to ask a follow-up question before I end up potentially screwing myself over.

So I am using an eGPU with the FTW3 Ultra 3080 connected via TB3 to my Dell XPS 15 9570 laptop. The graphics it has are the following:
  • Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with Max-Q Design
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080

So my question is, if I disable the 1050 Ti while the eGPU is connected, what happens when I use the laptop without the eGPU connected? Will the Intel graphics handle my laptop screen, etc? I just fear my laptop going black screen since I do not know which card is controlling it. Would it be best to only disable the 1050 while I use X1 Precision and then re-enable it when I'm done messing with the settings, etc?

Any info anyone can provide would be appreciated!

Re: Precision X1 Will Not Open 2021/09/25 13:07:09 (permalink)
Adding my voice to this thread.  I had to install a ASUS GT 710 to drive a 4th monitor with a 3080 FTW3 (due to Nvidia bug that maxes the Memory Clock with mixed refresh monitors).   Precision X1 crashes on launch, leaving APPCRASH notifications in Event Viewer.    It would be helpful if PX1 was updated to simply ignore incompatible GPUs.

What I did when this happened to me is I just installed a older version of Percision X1 "1.2.7.0" and it worked fine

Re: Precision X1 Will Not Open 2022/06/11 16:45:32 (permalink)
PrecisionX1 not opening might be because of a missing dll file that EVGA did not include in some downloads. Check to see if you have a (vcruntime140_1.dll) file in the windows/system32 folder. If you don't have that exact file, that's very likely your problem.  ... Just search for it, download ,it and add it to that folder and you should be set. The file is only 37KB.

Hi there,

Unfortunately adding my voice to the many that are having this issue. I'm on the latest version of Windows 11, all updated. Tried installing, re-installing etc, the permissions thing on the exe file etc and still nothing... These are my errors from the event viewer:
