I´m actually suprised how good paste EVGA was using. Didnt gain anything with paste swap, even that i think it had bad contact.
Anyways, is the heatsink nickel plated, or aluminium? Seems plated.
Asking cause i have some liquiq metal waiting.

And i´m still waiting EVGA to tell me, how the throtling works on this card...
When does it start, at what celcius level.
If my understanding is right, this card heavily needs lc.

It's nickel-plated copper. True thermal throttling starts at like 93c. Any clock adjustments you see between 40-90c isn't thermal throttling. What you're seeing is dynamic adjustments from gpu boost 3.0.

If you are desperate for a new high end 1080ti (ftw3, kingpin)... and don’t mind spending a few extra $$$. Nvidia themselves has plenty of stock of Xp and the “star wars” edition is discounted:

{nvidia dot com} /en-us/geforce/products/10series/star-wars-jedi-order-titan-xp-collectors-edition/

At $1,138 - that’s $62 off a regular Titan Xp and about $100 more than a kingpin. Flashing led and silly shrouds are not my thing but hey, it’s the exact same hardware and some lunch money off.

Granted, you don’t get a whole lot more in terms of performance, but it certainly is not an inferior card.

Interesting that NVIDIA has *plenty* of stock of Xp and no stock for 1080 ti’s (same processor, same memory).

I pretty much got a canned response when I emailed their sales team.

EVGA can't handle the demands of this particular series and seems like no backup plan to restock for a longtime.....
When will the 1080Ti Elite and Color options be available ...or any 1080Ti be available at this point.

Curious. Is everyone who buys a video card on here just flipping them on Amazon three days later? Does anyone other than me actually USE their cards? They are just buying them here, then marking them up 400 dollars and selling them.

Many "new sellers" on Amazon these days. I think EVGA should lock the warranty to ONLY the name and address to which it was shipped if they sell them here.

The whole supply/demand stuff really sucks right now for a lot of reasons, but if I manage to get my hands on one you bet your ass I'm going to use that sucker. My 980ti needs is just barely out of reach for 2k gaming. The 1080ti should be good enough.

To give You some advise, as this is how I obtained my hybrid - all major shops where out. I searched for shops that sells cards in general, not listing 1080ti ftw3 hybrid in my case on websites at all (I mean not listing as no stock but not listing card itself). Emailed them, and found one that didnt have it listed but had IT on stock. Bought it beginig of January below MSRP. Good luck :-)

Re: Official Post Your EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC/SC2/FTW3! 2018/01/18 12:36:33 (permalink)
To put it simply it's a matter of looking at stock every hour on the hour. With people buying a half dozen at a time to mine with stock moves very quick. When I wanted to order nothing stopped me. I have been watching pricing for about 9 months. Talk about a sick roller coaster... When it was getting close to order day I made my decision. I wanted the EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid. I didn't really have any choices due to the fact that I had to shop from Amazon. More on that in a bit. Amazon said order now and it will ship when in stock. They said it would be in stock on the 18th. It was slightly overpriced but I also saw 1080s at $200 over MSRP. I received it on the 14th and it fits in my Vivo Tian with PLENTY of room to spare. Don't take any sites' alerts as etched in stone. Stock and availability may change without notice. I've seen that before. I mounted its 120mm AIO liquid cooler in one of the available fan mounts near the top of the case. It could accept a 240mm radiator or 2 120mm or 140mm fans.

On a side note it does stay relatively cool.

But why only Amazon? A friend bought this and a few other things for me. I will be paying her back. She prefers Amazon and not Amazon via third party. She gives her payment info to only businesses she has to. I've gotten and paid back loans with interest to her before so this is normal for us. But what about the warranty? She will never and has never had possession of it. People buy gifts for friends and relatives all the time. If EVGA only honored the warranty to the shipping address and those who ordered I wouldn't have this card. I don't want to void the warranty on day 1. Fortunately I made sure she used my wish list and shipped to me instead of just buying it and giving it to me. I spoke to Jacob to make sure there wouldn't be any issues.

For those flippers I don't have a solution. Capitalism at its finest, or is it just pure greed?

Click notify on the card or cards you are considering purchasing and you will get an email.
Be quick though. All the price gougers are snatching up all the 10 series cards they can get their hands on to flip on ebay, Amazon and Newegg "stores" to cater to the miners.

I've seen EVGA cards pop into stock both on Newegg proper and EVGA at retail pricing and they are gone/OOS within minutes.
Or, if you want to pay hundreds more, feed the beast and get them from the resellers on AM and Newegg. heck with that I say.
just be patient and check/refresh often.

Earlier this month, I was able to snag another brand 1070ti (strix) and an EVGA 1080ti FTW3 Hybrid on Newegg for retail pricing.
A week later, fuggettabout it.

Having said that, with the crypto corrections going on since late December and into this month, many ebay sellers have started to realize their greed is not being fed, and some have started to discount their insane markups.

I had to laugh though, one ebay reseller has an evga 1050ti sc if i recall correctly, listed for $299, but the funny part was the "regular price" that had a slash through it showing over $9 grand.
these people think the world is just dumb I guess.

Hi there I am new here! I come from Asus 1080 Ti FE and I'm looking forward for my first EVGA GPU. I want a GPU with reference PCB so that I can install on it an EK A240G or EVGA water cooling kit. The 1080 Ti SC2 ICX or the 1080 Ti SC Black Edition Gaming are tickling my fantasy. Any suggestion?

Well on their site EKWB for the A240G is listed as compatible with 1080 Ti SC2 HydroCopper also and other 1080 Ti models including the 1080 Ti icx SC. Also a very kind EVGA customer support reported me a list of all models with a reference PCB and here they are:

I can only recommend the EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid. It isn't a basic 1080. It isn't just a 3 fan 1080 Ti FTW3. This is a beast of a 1080 Ti. It's crammed with cooling benefits. The most obvious is the radiator. It comes with an integrated 120mm AIO liquid cooling system. Want to change the fan/radiator? The connector is exposed. But I said beast didn't I. When I think of a beast I think of Asus Strix. Let's compare

Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-rog-strix-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-oc,5225-5.html 73C max.

EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid  46C max.

The RGB lighting is so very customizable. From the little G(GPU)P(power)M(memory) to the bigger RGB elements the user can make this card match any PC color theme out there. They could turn them off as well. Such a beautifully over-engineered card. They placed thermal tape where it really isn't NEEDED but it still helps. Those who sent EVGA those bad VRM's lit a fire under EVGA's backside. They've came back from that debacle cooler than ever. Well done EVGA.

I confess that I'm a bit confused at this point. After digging more in the EKWB the 1080 Ti SC2 Hydro Copper is listed as compatible, yet the 1080 Ti SC2 is not. Don't they have the same PCB?

Yes, they are the same. Clearly ek has made a mistake. #1 Why would you need to purchase a block for a card that already has a block, and #2 the SC2 isn't reference design as the SC2 includes 9 additional thermal sensors, and a safety fuse which the sc black edition doesn't have.

That's exactly what I was thinking in the first place. But an opinion of a more expert person never hurts I guess. Now I know 100% that in a month or so I'll have in my hands the 1080 Ti SC Black Edition Gaming. Thank you so much again for clearifying my doubts.
