Nvidia just lost 80% of sales of gpu’s bad for them.

I doubt NVidia loses anything.  NVidia hasn't seemed to care about gamers or AIB's, and only cared about themselves.

ExcaliburXVII
Linus Torvalds moment. nVidia must have acted extremely poorly towards EVGA in order for it to come to this.

I wish you guys and gals the best going forward. There will be a lot of fanboy responses due to EVGA having been an nVidia-exclusive partner for so long but the company would be more than welcomed producing video cards for AMD. Best of luck to all of the employees, and thanks for the years of hard work.

It would be one thing to say that EVGA will start producing AMD cards, but to say EVGA won't be making next gen (nvidia) cards is pretty shocking.   I would agree with Excalibur above that "something must have hit the fan" for things to get to this point.

I have confidence that EVGA could hit their stride with AMD cards.  Unfortunately I recently purchased a high end monitor with the nvidia module, so it looks like i'll be shopping with another AIB .

Something stands out to me with Jacob's post:
EVGA_JacobF
EVGA will continue to provide the current generation products

My guess: there was a major blow-out with remaining 30 series GPUs that are currently overstocked.  I bet EVGA asked for a buyback or something along those lines and Nvidia wasn't willing to budge.  EVGA is going to sell-through what they have and not buy a single 40 series chip.  In the mean time transition to AMD

Edit: Sounds like they won't be making AMD or Intel cards either.
All I can say is, nothing is forever..  and hopefully we will see a return making GPUs down the road.  This is very sad and sorry to any EVGA employees that will be affected by this.

A note to Andrew Han:  100% of EVGA's customer equity is tied to GPUs.. Staying out of this market will kill the brand.  Just look at all the comments.  We're not here solely for the peripherals, PSUs or Mobos.

Sad to hear the last 3 gens (skipped 2 gens in between)I did buy where all from you guys.
I do hope you will still try to give us as long as warranty as possible sins I did bought 10 years of it on my 3090. I do fear though for this to be a lot shorter now. This as well a bit more sins i am in the eu. Hope we will get some info about this soon.

I do wish all the workers the best for now and in what the future brings. Maybe there are other products to take a look at to switch to.

Wow so people with extended warranty are going to get the short hand of the stick? No next gen, then later down the line no more current gen stock and no options for step-up for next gen.

Once they are out you are SOL. Glad I was not in a rush to get my 3090 TI extended warranty. They would had robbed me for an additional 270 something dollars... Already got me on a few other 30 series cards...

Sadly the writing was on the wall as soon as Andrew Han took over the failed businessman with an ego. He has singlehandedly destroyed what his business partner and co-owner built & created. We have seen the slow progression of things slowly go downhill over the years. Even the forums get treated as a liability than an asset they are no longer as busy as they used to be with people who freely spoke with crazy ideas to overclocking they all left and went someplace else as the forums got ran differently under Andrews guidance.

I sure hope EVGA now open sources their software solutions, as things will get messy otherwise.
Also so much for the upgrade program, guess I will have to go Gigabite or Galax.

Oh my god, this is so sad, it hurts, I would never imagined that the best GPU AIB left the game but I truly get the reasons why.

I sincerely wish EVGA to overcome this huge drawback, even if it will be by an absence on the GPU market, it would be a real loss to loose the only manufacturer to actually care about its customers, the only one to also propose innovant programs like step-up or queues.

It's AMD cards or bankruptcy for EVGA, take your pick. EVGA can't survive without video cards.

This is Devastating.

I've probably been using EVGA since 2006. They have been the most reliable brand of GPU I've ever had. The support has been phenomenal and I recommended them to almost everyone I knew for GPUs. I have no idea where I am going to turn for cards now. If you guys go AMD or anything else GPU wise I'd probably follow you there out of the NVIDIA market. I hope this is just the foreshadowing to that.

I hope everyone working on the GPU related departments will be fine. Thank you guys for almost 20 years of great GPUs.

Agreed. They have too much invested in AIB and cooling design to just stop selling GPUs.

Re: Official Message from EVGA Management 2022/09/16 13:24:20 (permalink)
I would urge against Radeon cards. AMD's software/drivers suffers big time. it'll be more of a headache for EVGA to deal with that. Intel has a better handle on driver stability, but they are just reemerging to the GPU space so there will be some growing pains there too.

but it sounds like EVGA isnt going to make any GPUs for the foreseeable future. With the mismanagement of things during the chip shortage, and then them killing off the Bucks program, the writing was on the wall for something like this to happen. I'd be surprised if they're still in business in a year.

This is what happens when you stock up hardware with overinflated pricing. At some moment, the curve reverses and you end up hanging.

I do not know who was responsible for the infated pricing, but I do know that Nvidia was the one profiting in the end.

There is also one other thing that is bugging me regarding the situation, so I have a question for the EVGA team, hopefully someone of you guys can answer it:

Does compatibility of the new RTX 4000 series GPUs with your PSUs have something to do with your decision? It would be terrible if GPUs started frying if paired with older non ATX 3.0 PSUs.

I agree. listening to GN's video now, it sounds like the CEO believes they'll be fine being a power supply company only (and...maybe motherboards too?)...at least that's the message he's putting out there.

Honestly? Good for EVGA.

Nvidia has become an anticonsumer monster and the fact that they continue to do business in Russian right now just shows how little that company cares about anything other than money.

Jacob,
I'm sure you don't have all the answers yet, but can you try to shed some light on the plans for those of us with existing cards and extended warranties?  I personally just bought a Kingpin this last year with a 10 year extended warranty.  For the next couple years, I'm guessing there will be RMA stock but at some point that will run out.  In the past when that happened you would always get the next step/gen up as a replacement.  That wont be available.  Do you have any insight into how things will be handled in the future for that?

How do they plan to honor that warranty if something goes wrong.

Really concerned about this too, especially after they raised prices on the extended warranties. I've been buying EVGA for over 2 decades, back when like every card had a lifetime warranty, and have gotten SO many upgraded cards over the years that it was a no-brainer to pay for an extended warranty. Kinda feeling suckered on that one, if they knew back in April that they weren't doing any 40xx cards.
