zippytek Am I the only one who thinks the 3090 Ti kingpin will be closer to $2500 than $3000? It's not like there is a big market for a $3K msrp gpu. Let alone 8-9 months before the GPU market has cards that ship w 3x the performance of the current flagships
I'm thinking the same thing. Closer to $3K seems absurd. Rumor was they were drop the 3090 KP price and Ti would be pushed above the previous price for the base 3090.

Yeah don't think it will be that high, not even $2500. I'd say $2200-$2300 tops if not, they might just bump the new Kingpin to the current Kingpin's spot.

Depends which model you are talking about - the AiO or the Hydrocopper.. there's $230 difference between the two for the 3090KP, and I don't see the 3090TiKP being cheaper. The difference in price from 3090FTW3HC to 3090KPHC is $380, so we could see a similar hike to go to the 3090TiKPHC (damn that's a bit of a mouthful).. which would land around $2,750. Then again, the price difference for the hybrid going from FTW3 to KP is 'only' $200, so maybe $2,350 for the 3090TiKP-Hybrid and $2,550 for the 3090TiKPHC? Also note that NVidia will be setting the base price, and they might just push the MSRP up quite a bit because they know people will still buy it based on the huge demand out there for the last almost 18 months (and the ridiculous prices some people have paid to scalpers).. and that craziness hasn't abated much since the 3000 series launched. Also.. inflation pushing up costs every step of the way may be a factor. Sigh.

I look at it this way when comparing the 3090 KP to the "competition." The MSI Suprim X 3090 is a $2400 MSRP card. The Asus 3090 TUF is a $2200 MSRP card. The Asus 3090 Strix is a $2300 MSRP card. The Strix its not in the same class as the KP or HOF cards. I'm sure Asus will raise the price of their 3090 ti cards at least a couple hundred dollars over the 3090 models. If Asus charges more for their air cooled 3090s than EVGA charges for a hybrid Kingpin 3090s that gives EVGA plenty of room to move the price up past $2500.

Also, if we are brushing up against $4k retail for a card, the whole thermal pad/GPU hotspot nonsense from the vs 3090 variants better be PERFECT out of the box. PERFECT. P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Good day.

I imagine many (if not most) prospective 3090Ti owners would give it a miss at $4,000+ ..even scalpers might hesitate with that kind of up-front expense.

I wouldn't give much attention to distributor pricings. These have "leaked" before with past launches and they were way off from MSRP.

I guess one way to fix supply problems is to charge so much for the card at retail that nobody even wants it kind of like the strix 3080Ti at 2K+, or some of the non-xtxh 6900's that were close to $2K

Yup, this is how I got my kids their 2 Alienware computers. You can get a complete system minus the GPU on Ebay for even cheaper than buying the parts and building yourself since these GPU scalpers/miners are willing to take a huge loss on the entire system just to get the GPU. (Yeah I know, Alienware's suck, and I can obviously build them their systems, but they got suckered by the looks).

don't read into this. first of all, zotac and MSI are rip of artists. MSI is the company that tried to scalp their own cards on ebay at 2x the price. and even when they aren't flipping their own cards on ebay, their cards are all disgustingly expensive even through retail channels. MSI 10GB RTX 3080 gaming is $1200 and suprim is $1300 in the US, and that's before sales tax. MSI cards cost hundreds more than anyone aside from zotac, which is somehow worse than MSI. and second, these prices are from european countries with stupid high import and sales taxes (VAT). german VAT is 19% and is already in the price of the card, where as in the US, canada and many other countries, they advertised price does not include the sales tax.

Absolutely this. I don't even consider Zotac a top tier GPU manufacturer but on the Newegg Shuffle their cards are going for the most. I don't know if that's because they let Newegg charge whatever they want, but I also make note that EVGA cards go for the same price on Newegg that they charge on their own website. Consider this, you can get a 3090 Kingpin for more than $500 less than you'd pay for a Zotac 3090 on the Newegg Shuffle. If you had both cards sitting in front of you for those prices which one are you going to buy? Even if they cost the exact same it's a no brainer.

Zotac prices are that high. Their upper tier 3090 is almost $3k on their own website. They are in stock a lot of the time. Guess that shows where the upper threshold is at.

Now this is a bit of a weird question and sorry if it's out of place in this post (idk if it's worth it's own thread) but would yall suppose it'd be possible/easy (aka not requiring any custom milling) to fit the 3090 Ti KP with a blower heatsink? I know Nvidia put their foot down banning the production of new blower cards and blower cards are bad by conventional wisdom but I'm trying to build a single phase immersion cooling rig (it's been something I've wanted to do for over a decade now and I'm just full sending it now). It's preferable to be able to have all the heatsinks in one direction and as few moving parts (or anything that could get gunked up like a water block) as possible. Worst case I suppose I'd just need to get the face of a heatsink machined but it'd be ideal if I could use or easily convert another EVGA blower heatsink assembly.

Sigh.
Agree on all fronts. Though, I don't think it will go passed $2500 and if it does, that's a bit worrisome and makes me think of the new level of pricing for the next gen. I mean they all have to adjust to inflation by unrelenting spending sprees.
