I remember a friend got a 3 core processor and unlocked the 4th and everything worked perfectly after re enabling it, meaning he got a more expensive processor for cheaper. He never had any issues with it.
Yeah, AMD's Phenom 720 processors did that, but the situation was different. They were having great yields (the chip was originally designed to make use of a quad core with a failed core) and would often just firmware (I remember, could be wrong here) disable a core. So it was often possible to re-enable the core and run as the Quad core (925, I think) and get a substantial boost.
I remember vaguely back in the late 90s - early 00s, we were using a pencil to physically connect specific pins on Athlon CPUs to unlock the core multiplier and thus be able to overclock effectively… these were the days!

Yeah luck seems to be a big part but even then it seems like it was easier "to get lucky" a couple of months earlier. Maybe it's just more people. and their drop times are getting much more sporadic. Will def keep trying using that method.

Any retailer that these discord servers monitor for stock have been botted like crazy so your chance of getting something outside of the Newegg shuffle is pretty low.

The 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming is now € 781,99 ex VAT in the EVGA EU-shop. The 3080 Ti is performing about 10-15% better. My guess is that the price will be 15% higher, so € 899,99 ex VAT. For me VAT is 21%. I am counting on paying € 1089,00!

It's hard to say, especially with the global chip shortage and the amount of times the 3080Ti has been postponed. At this point, the only time we'll know when it will be announced is when it's actually announced.

Feel free to post here a couple times a day with relevant, on topic replies. You're probably less likely to get flagged as spam doing legitimate posts like that than you are from going to a counting thread. Regarding prices I'd put my money on the following: FE/Black - $999 FTW3 / HC variants - Up to $1,149 I wouldn't be surprised if NVIDIA pushed the envelope further though. Everything they can manufacture sells and they can always do a price drop if the situation reverses itself. If cards are getting scalped for $2k regardless, they may push it high just to keep some of that revenue in their pockets as opposed to scalpers.

From what I have been hearing, 3080 ti will be priced much higher and perform between the 3080 and 3090 wich is hardly noticeable vs vanilla 3080 but will have double the RAM. Who knows! I suppose time will tell

Tom from Moore's Law is dead predicted a $999USD FE price with AIB models going from $1,100 to $1,600. The bottom end of that sounds reasonable to me, but $1,600 is just insane.
