I'm already seeing several GTX 1080 Ti cards on eBay for under $500 shipped. Very tempted to pick one up, but I'm going to wait and see the performance and features of the next series cards. If the 1170/2070 is the same performance of a GTX 1080 Ti and the price is right I may go that way.

I had that same thought this time around, except I'd be coming from a 1080.  Going to depend on the price difference between the xx70 & xx80 and how much of a performance increase it is from a 1080 to a xx70.

  whats the point of upgrading?  Any ways....to each his/her own. One thing for sure, I will be getting the GTX 1180. I have the TV that matches the specs of this new GPU, plus DDR6? It will be a nice addition to my Rig. The question i have is: will the GTX 1180 bottleneck my exciting RIG specs? 

Worried about a top end GPU bottlenecking your TV and today's PC tech, what?!  It's the other way around.  Most TV's only go as high as 60hz and 1080p or 4K resolution.  Regardless, you might be looking at diminishing returns.  Could probably go with the mid tier and still have room for more.

Have you seen my Rig specs yet?   I have the Ultimate powa TV:  LG OLED worth $3k smackeronies Full 4K Res...tehe.  Thanks for the advise, but i am still gettting it....the 16GB DDR6 of memory and many of the new specs got me.

The 1170/2070 may have Ray Tracing, so that would be nice to have with the same performance of a 1080 Ti. Plus I crypto mine, so I would let the 1080 Ti earn money full time.

 If you can sell it now and add some cash wouldn't be better to just get the 2080

Maybe its just me or just coincidental that it's the day before the release of Battle of Azeroth (8/14).  Maybe they have a deal with Blizzard with the new GPU(s) presumably speaking?  Don't companies usually do that on big AAA titles?

Gosh I hope this isn't one of them GeForce 'no show' events and it ends up being all about the enterprise GPUs.

You guy realize Jacob Freeman, EVGA's product management director is in Taiwan right now making sure things are moving with EVGA's product line for the next GeForce generation Nvidia is about to announce? Well if you didn't you do now. EVGA aint sending him there for weeks to just fart around while Nvidia doesn't announce anything that's for sure. All the signs are there, we just have to wait.

I'm waiting for Actual Formal Launch, Price & the all important Availability part of the equation

seems to be some great sale prices  ~ $100+ on some cards at many retail locations & EVGA's own store
 
I just remember how hard it was to actually get a New 1080 when they launched .... yet at cost +125% they were all over auction sites
 
Don't forget that Nvidia Monopolized the actual launch of the 10 series for Months before Partners were allowed in
 
So, given all that history, I'm not holding my breath till cards are in EVGA's store & authorized dealers hands

 
I could imagine EVGA selling 1000 - 2000 cards the first day ---> but history says stock will likely be 100-200 cards; they are going to burn the website down with demand and refresh commands

Ok I was doing some calculation on the performance difference between a 1070 and 1080 Ti. According to these rumors with the 1170/2070 being 40% faster then a 1070, that puts the 1170/2070 performance past the 1080 ti. Am I right on my calculations of the 1170/2070 being faster then the 1080 Ti? 

Hmm...rumors are rumors...but this might be/not be accurate, i can say is 60% accurate at this point. If you can keep a track of the GTX series releases it usually go by 100 series up, but with this new GPU they are going by the 1k, which means is a whole new level of GPU tech. Part of it has to do with memory and the full support of 4k resolution...so they say? but not 100% proven.
I don't usually buy GPUs at full price, but i am going to make an exception on this one.  

Super shiny Quadro RTX family* announced so far. Used to showcase the video released from March that highlighted ray tracing. Hopefully more to come.

Nothing about a GeForce card so far.

The stream is terrible and keeps cutting out.


Update:

So far it looks like the pictured pcb everyone was super hyped about was a quadro, not a GeForce, and it is a “Turing” gpu core. Nvlink interface was used, but scaled down from the Tesla sized nvlink.

Editing in updates as they come along. The stream is glitchy and lots of people complaining about it cutting out. Using two different stream pages to get everything to come through lol.
