^^ That could be quite cool.  I like the first link Nateman, out of your links. Since you said it's a black/white theme. Here's one I think looks really cool: http://www.amazonexotichardwoods.com/category/T82.html
You always have the most interesting threads dude.... I think even a red color maybe good to break up the color.

Edit:
Also partial to this "snakewood", seems a bit pricey though. Then again I'm cheap......

On a knife like this, there is no such thing as pricey.  I put months into it.
honestly I was trying to stay away from any type of brown.  Most of these woods "appear" black and white, or more like gray.  I thought about that ebony black and white.  It has the contrasting colors I am looking for, but its still a light brown.  I think it would clash.

I have never worked with antler,  Not sure how I would machine it into shape.

Buffalo horn can have black with white streaks.
I have worked with it, cut to rough shape with a band saw and shaped with sandpaper.
Smell like when the dentist drills your teeth, bet to do outside or by a good exhaust fan.
Shop around, I just posted as a FYI

No it is not mine, I have a couple buffalo horn blocks, but I have plans for them.
That was just one that came up doing a search on ebay. Thought you may like it.

I ordered a set of them, and I got some other pieces of wood to see which ones go the best.

What plans to do you have for yours?

I have a Case Trapperlock and a Case Russlock with drop point blade, both have yellow handles I am going to replace.
They will be custom one of a kind, case did not offer those in buffalo horn.
Both have CV high carbon blades, won the bids, got them at a great price.

With the leftover horn, I am thinking of making a nut for my bass guitar to replace the plastic one on it now.

I was passing by a local wood place and picked up a few woods to try along with the buffalo horn.  Got some black palm, African Blackwood, and Chacate Preto.
Holy cow that African Blackwood is EXPENSIVE!?!  Well it is in the store I went too.

The thing that I dont like about buying wood online, is you really never know what kind you are going to get.  You may see the nicest piece in the picture but the one you get looks nothing like it.  At least walking into an overpriced brick and mortar store, you can look at the actual piece you are going to walk out of there with.

Also I have no desire to cover the steel with a handle.  Its driving me crazy.

Just throwing an idea out there, what about a polycarbonate handle? Give it a flame polish finish and it would let you see the steel I assume.

I thought about trying that too.  I am hesitant because I think you may see any imperfections in the gluing process.  I will cut one anyway while I am making the rest and see what it looks like.

That is fascinating, but honestly how durable can a wood knife be?  I guess being in the kitchen it wood be fine (see what I did there?)  It doesn't have the stresses a camp knife or chopper would have.  I am curious what type of wood they used.  I am positive that it is stabilized wood.  It would have to be stabilized or it would swell and change shape and the tongue-and-groove edge would have problems.

I just like the workmanship on it and the aesthetic value - the tongue and groove looks so delicate, but wow if I had one, I'd likely not use it, I'd just show it off to people lol. Maybe the handle could have some nice metal inlays, but other than that, yeah, it really appeals to me for some reason. No big deal, just saw it and thought of you, so posted it up. :)

I am VERY curious how that tongue and groove is made.  I really doubt much of it is forged.  He must have a CNC like me, you can see the handles are CNC'd so i see no reason why the rest of the knife wouldn't be.  No shame in it... hell I do it.  Forge a blank of damascus and put it on the CNC.  They come out nice that way too *cough* ZACH *cough*

I personally love mixing the old crafts with the new.  I do like his idea though...  Maybe use Aluminum instead?  But he looks like a hipster so he is probably going for the ECO carbon footprint thing to appeal to other hipsters.

Those are some nice looking knives Nate. I get anxious looking at that set-up due to the placement you've choose though. Why not a display wall?

they aren't "on display".  They are awaiting handles....and customers.

but dont worry, they clear my head when I walk under.  Most of the long knives are over the table and only the short ones are under where I walk.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.
