I recommend not going over 144 or 165hz, I can't see the difference and it seems the price goes up and the display quality tends to have issues beyond that, for no real gain. I also definitely recommend ultrawide, it's so nice having the extra screen real estate.

If you're still looking, I'd consider an ultrawide. Dell, LG and Samsung have some decently priced 34"-38" monitors. Spec wise I'd shoot for 144hz 1440p like everybody else has recommended.

Does anyone have a 360Hz monitor that Nvidia talks about for latency? I'm happy with my 240Hz 1440p but just like to know if it's much better 360Hz 1080p?

which 240hz 1440P did you go with? im stuck between the Alienware and Acer Predator

anyone running a 32" monitor at 144 @ 1440p? i'm on a 27 that i absolutely love lg b850, but think i need a bigger screen ? just don't know if i would like something that big , i mostly play FPS games but my eyes are defiantly not what they used to be and think if I went bigger would be better but wanted some practical experience with a larger monitor , it would be about 2.5 feet away the way my office is set up

I'm using the Dell S2721DGF. It's a 1440p 165hz monitor.

Buttery smooth compared to my old 60hz.

Re: Monitor Suggestions 2021/06/03 17:09:03 (permalink)
For not that much more than $400 you can get the Gigabyte 34" G34WQC-EK.
It's 144hz, 3440x1440, ultrawide, curved, so it ticks lots of boxes
I picked one up recently and found performance to be really good, especially for the price.
You might explicitly want 2 screens, but for me having one ultrawide gives enough screen width and immersion for games, and plenty of space for productivity, so I don't need 2 screens.
It even comes with a pretty decent stand, supports VESA mounts and the monitor actually looks good IMHO.

This is the correct answer for 1440p IPS monitors, the only thing it doesn't have is proper sRGB clamping so if you are planning to do any photography work or anything that needs super acturate sRGB colors then its a no go, get the LG 27GL850-B its the same panel as the Dell but with sRGB clamping.

Get a curved monitor.

The Samsung Odyssey g7 is a curved VA panel and one of the best monitors you can get, but boy oh boy please go to a store that has a monitor with a 1000R curved on display so you can see it first because you do not realize till you see it just how big that curve is and it takes some serious getting used to.

2K ( 2560x1440p ) , 120 Hz  minimum
Asus, MSI, AOC, Pixio , Acer  - ( stay away from Samsung )

What is wrong with Samsung? They make pretty good TVs I assumed they would make good monitors as well.

       * Samsung gaming monitors *
Take a peruse around the internet.  Their last series of gaming monitors had terrible panel failures. I know, I had one.  Had to be fixed under warranty 3 times.
Their latest 'odyssey' is their attempt to rebrand because of the horrible reputation they had .... and those are having terrible problems all around as well.
Then you can move on to their Customer Support people .  Last time I checked they were rocking a 1.4  stars  out of 5 * quality rating  .....
Trust me, it is well deserved.  It was the worst experiences dealing with them over & over again , that I have ever had with companies over 30 + years  in every/ any field .

+1...unfortunately. My family had the pleasure of suffering thru one Sammy monitor failure and my moms TV from around 2012 psu blew out and of course we found out when we went thru rma that it was a issue across a few TV's. Then they had exploding washing machines, melting top tier cell phones etc... yeah, im good on sammy. SSD's are good though. Dont do HP either they like to attach just one year warrantys to everything, no matter how high end it is. Been there done that too. Asus makes good monitors...a little price crazy though and if your in the US god forbid you have to rma with them. Acer ive had lots of from 17" to 24" and they all still work, no rma's no hiccups. They just work. Cant speak about there rma process though. AOC same thing, good prices, work well and theyve been around a long time and know the business. Pixio is new to me and i cant speak of it and MSI i only know thru pc component parts and im kinda on the fence about.

I recently got the Dell S3220DGF and love it. People warn of text sharpness issues when working at 1440p on a 32" screen, but I've been fine and had no thoughts about it.

I have this monitor as well.  My desk is rather large and with it mounted on an arm it's perfect for me..  Great picture, 165hz is a no brainer.  I'm actually hoping they do a 4K version.

I have 34"LG ultrawide and I dont recommend this one since it's only 4ms and 75hz. I once had 144hz and I regret downgrading it.

Re: Monitor Suggestions 2021/06/15 22:02:02 (permalink)
Got myself a Samsung Odyssey G9 49" super ultrawide 240hz back in November of 2020.... who would have thought it would be 8 months later that I would be able to get a card that could drive it? Lol... finally got a 3080 Ti after 9 months of hunting for a card.

Couldn't be happier with the G9 but I'll be much much much happier once I get my new rig built... hunting for a 5950x but might just settle for a 5800x and call it a day for the time being.
