I have the 27" dell G-sync 144hz 2k monitor and i really like it. I think as long as you get those specs, you will be happy with the result.

Depends on what you want to do. 1080p high refresh rate if you want to play something like esports titles. 4k if you want to run low frame rate but great looks. For me, 1440p is right in the middle. Still rocking a 1080ti and everything I play hits above 60fps (Most games around 100-120) and the graphics are still much better than 1080p. Also depending on GPU, if you are going with an NVidia GPU (When you can find one) I would look for G-Sync displays or Freesync displays that are G-Sync capable. Most should say in the description but G-Sync also has a list here (). Some other info here ().
Ultimately I would head here (). Work your way down the filters on the left to narrow things down a bit and then look for reviews for each one to see if there are any advantages/disadvantages that you may not have thought of.

Unless you have a specific need for 2 monitors, why not go with a super ultrawide? Monoprice just released their 49" at a price that fits your budget

What's the quality going to be like on a $400 super ultrawide? My guess is not great. I could be wrong though.

$400 budget per monitor. That's $800 total. The monoprice dark matter 49" ultrawide is $800 right now.

I personally have a Samsung Odyssey G9 and it's awesome. I don't think I can ever go back to a dual monitor setup. Although, I am looking to add a 27" alongside the G9.

Ah you're right. My mistake. Personally, I have a 1080p 240hz and I'm thinking getting an UW about 34" to be my main monitor for use outside of fps games. Think I want a very shallow curve though. And I could never do 49" lol.

I thought the 1000r curvature would be too much but it's actually perfect. The 49" is the same as 2 27" side by side.

I think my next monitor is going to be 4k, I've been on 1080p for so long, but with the latest generation of cards it feels like 4k is ready (although the monitors are lagging behind in that space) in tv's 4k is standard and I also plan on getting a 4k tv to connect my computer to.

Depending on your space and budget, I'd look at a single larger 4k panel.  I'm on a Sony 43" and love it, and will likely replace with a 48" LG OLED (G-Sync compatible) once I get a new GPU.  For me, I wouldn't consider going back to my multi 27" - 1440p - 144hz setup for a second.  I also don't have response time requirements due to the games or people I play with, so YMMV.

Re: Monitor Suggestions 2021/05/02 11:47:01 (permalink)
Like others have said, in your case 1440p would be preferable. 4k is too much, even if you plan to upgrade to a 3080 down the line, you're not going to enjoy your current setup that much if you go for 4k immediately, meaning that you don't get to understand how big of a difference going from 60hz to 120-165hz really is.

Other suggestions mention 240hz, but that is only if you are a dedicated CSGO, Valorant, Overwatch etc. player. If you are an allround gamer, the resolution upgrade from 1440p is so much more worth it compared to going from 144 to 240 for instance. You'll have less need for anti aliasing for sharp looking gaming (coming from a person who owns both 240hz 1080p and 1440p 144hz).

Make sure it has either Freesync or Gsync, but unless you really want a specific monitor, keep in mind that if a monitor has a dedicated Nvidia Gsync hardware module, it is usually more expensive than comparable models.

I personally love Asus monitors, but Acer has good counterparts (they usually all use panels from AOC anyway, so they only add their own settings/design).

Stay away from Viotek's cheaper models. I have one and no matter how I tweak things my games always look grainy.

I second that. Depending on what type of games you play, you might be better off with a quality TV over a monitor.

Monitors are best for FPS due to response time, but outside of that bigger is often better. I love playing Valhalla on my 65" Samsung 4k and turn-based games there's no comparison, TV all the way.

Thinking of s2721dgf, seems to beat lg850 and other monitors in that price range. But the reviews and feedback are so split...

Had this one for about a year, absolutely love it. Good for the price point and calibrated out of the box in sRGB mode which I always like.

Re: Monitor Suggestions 2021/05/06 23:50:27 (permalink)
Not sure it was posted.
Most likely for my next monitor if I actually manage to get a 3080TI or a 3090 will be the new LG 27GP950-B. While it may not be the best 4K wise or ergonomic wise, I think it is a good trade and a good showcase of the 4K settings that we should get accustomed to, that, if it delivers on the specs and performance that they are promising. Will be a good baseline for 4K, even if the HDR is not there yet.

I used the Samsung Odyssey G7 27 and 32 inches, tried them. And it really feels that the curvature is really agressive. I felt that the 27 inch is even more agressive and that the videos really feel different and worse than on a flat 27 screen. The 32 while having the same curvature, it doesnt feel as agressive, but for me it is really a too big screen with the desk space I have available.
They are good monitors, especially the 32, which seem to have multiple revisions but I will preffer a flat screen overall.

So for this year that is my pick, if it is going to deliver, LG 27GP950-B.

Does anyone have a 360Hz monitor that Nvidia talks about for latency? I'm happy with my 240Hz 1440p but just like to know if it's much better 360Hz 1080p?

I believe any basic matte 4k monitor would be fine. People can go nuts looking for THE best monitor. If it works and is a good price, get it.

Ive recently upgraded to 1440p while waiting on my 30 series card ... went with the LG 850.. its 144hz, 1ms IPS love it ... very happy with the purchase, also have a zowie 240hz 1080p which is fast but the colors are too  muted for my taste, i prefer LG, or asus monitors but its personal preference .. i would suggest looking in person ... i almost went curved but after seeing it in person the Samsung was too much but thats personal

I have 3 27" monitors. all 144hz 1ms IPS

I started with the deal i got at MC for 2 Acer XF270HU models for 300 dollars each and then ended up with the LG 27GL83A that was an amazon deal for like 390. I like the LG more for gaming. screen feels better with response than the acers. Acers have better color. even though they are all IPS. I would recommend them both though as they arent 600 dollar monitors but still are 1ms
