There's absolutely nothing wrong with an in place upgrade. I've done so on countless systems without issues. Windows 10 installers are designed to be used for clean installs and upgrades. I've also upgraded October 1809 to November 1809 systems too without issues also.

It isn't wrong to upgrade. It's really just the user's preference.

Sometimes a clean install is necessary when the current operating system is corrupt in some way. Though, if it's working, an upgrade will be just fine.

Agreed.  I do a fresh clean install every 2nd or 3rd big update.  Have had no issue's at all just letting the upgrade take place.  After a few days of seeing things are running well, I get rid of the windows.old file.

I'll also add that I have a few systems that I've never done a clean fresh install after the inital one 3 years ago.  No issue's with any of them.

While doing a Disk Cleanup, if you want to keep your downloads, uncheck that item. I couldn't figure out why the Downloads library folder would be empty after I performed a full Disk Cleanup. Just another thing to look out for.

I've yet to buy into Microsoft's patch-happy culture for Windows 10. What meaningful improvement is going on every 6 months to merit such enforced IT logistics? This update culture costs millions every patch cycle.

Myself and others have had our games FPS dragged down to 45-55 in version 1809. I now have no windows on my PC. Windows cannot repair itself or restore. So all my stuff is gone for now, I guess. Fortunately it’s just a gaming machine. I hope I can sync my drives back to the new install of windows that contained all of my games.
I hope after a fresh install my FPS returns to normal, bc 45FPS isn’t what a water cooled 1080Ti is all about.

I just don't like forced (down your throat) 'upgrades'.  It really should be my choice, and not Microsoft.

Am I the only one seeing their card stuck at Intel Spec speeds after updating to 1809? I have tried multiple different things to unlock my overclock, but with 1809, my 6950x won’t overclock past intels stock specs of 3.5 on 9 cores and 4.0 on one core.

I just want to know if I missed something and I cannot use 1809.

If I revert back to 1803, my overclock goes from 3.5x9/4.0x1 to 4.3x10 no problem.
