https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2018/11/13/resuming-the-rollout-of-the-windows-10-october-2018-update/#BReSzdwduXGegsqW.97 Originally Microsoft shelved the Windows 10 October 2018 feature update after a data-destroying bug among other problems was detected just days after its initial rollout. Now with more than a month has passed they are finally re-releasing the update after having "thoroughly investigated and resolved" the issues, according to Microsoft's John Cable, director of Program Management for Windows Servicing and Delivery. For PC gamers the big ticket and the reason this update is important is that it delivers DirectX Raytracing. While the feature was announced months ago, the delay of the October 2018 Update meant owners of NVIDIA's RTX 2000 series were unable to use all the features and hardware those graphics cards had to offer. With the update now available and DirectX Raytracing finally in the hands of the masses, all that is needed now is some games that support it. That might take a while.

I hope game devs are getting incentives to program raytracing in their games! That should ramp up the RT supported releases. (This is my personal opinion and not that of EVGA or Nvidia)

I have been running Oct Update since day 1. The new release is still 17763.1 Windows updated for the first time in awhile yesterday. 17763.134 is the new version number. MS still hasn't fixed the "brightness" setting in Power settings in Control panel. No way to set brightness of the monitor. Not sure if it will come back with a clean install.

Actually, the new release ends in .107. I was surprised the number is lower than the first 1809. The old 1809 is a couple hundred MB lower than the new one. I downloaded the new ISO this morning and compared the properties and major build numbers.

MediaCreationTool1809.exe from Today and the MediaCreationTool1809.exe from when it released are the Same Version Numbers from what I compared today. And after Yesterdays (cumulative update) it well be .134

The MCT could be the same size but the ISO's are different sizes and different build versions.
I checked two systems I installed it to today and they both ended in .107. I'll confirm again tomorrow but I double checked today.

We talking the File Version of MediaCreationTool1809.exe? Or the OS? MCT for me is Microsoft Certified Trainer Program

The build version of the OS. That's why I was surprised the build version is lower than the original first October 1809.
Lol, I meant Media Creation Tool (MCT).

I'll confirm the version I saw, I meant. Not sure why I saw .107. Anyways, I don't mean to go back and forth on this.
Though, looks like they're also working on a light theme too.

I recommend Installing a Full Fresh OS Install and not an Upgrade of the Current OS.

When you guys say reinstall, is that with the installer you get from M$ and it will automatically give you 1809 without completely formatting your stuff?

I almost forgot. I will brick my old Samsung XP941 M.2 if I tried formatting it. All I can do is delete the partition at best. Than just reinstall everything but I'm going to choose to not do this as it would be a pain to reinstall all of the stuff I have running on 3 screens but if issues should arise, I'll head that route if needed.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with an in place upgrade. I've done so on countless systems without issues. Windows 10 installers are designed to be used for clean installs and upgrades. I've also upgraded October 1809 to November 1809 systems too without issues also.
It isn't wrong to upgrade. It's really just the user's preference.
Sometimes a clean install is necessary when the current operating system is corrupt in some way. Though, if it's working, an upgrade will be just fine.

My thoughts exactly is why I usually do upgrades than reformats when I'm not seeing any issues whatsoever plus it would be a pain to reinstall all of the things I have running and redownload all the games I have because wiping windows would wipe my virtual raid on 3 raptors drives holding around 650GBs of games and I sure as hell know my ISP won't be too pleased with me redownloading all of that in such a short period of time. lol We have a soft cap of 1TB a month which we barely hit but sometimes get close with all the things we have running.

+1 Yeah I don't want to spend the lengthy time to reinstall stuff either with no real season to do so. Ha-ha, well even if there's one like the system corruption I had this past summer I did an in place upgrade and that fixed it. 😀 I upgrade a Dell Inspiron 3847 to 1809 for a family member yesterday without any issues. They asked because Windows Update wasn't doing it.
