I just max it out for extra stability. If you don’t black screen you’ll know you weren’t stable.

What setting are you putting the voltage control to in order to get 1.1mv?  It's showing as a % so I'm thoroughly confused and don't want to overvolt the card.  For the dropdown did you leave it on "Standard MSI" or put it on 3rd party or reference?

Maxing out the voltage slider will put it at 1.1. Yeah, standard.

But erm... why raise the voltage to begin with? Have you had stability issues with the default voltage?

Maybe I got lucky, but my card can run higher clocks below stock voltage and so far has been rock-solid in normal use: CP2077 PT with a bunch of mods - it's really the only one that needs an overclock at the moment.

I'd be wary of running 1.100 long term... if my card was not stable at stock then I'd send it in under warranty.

For extra stability, and the card gets better fps with additional voltage, and 1.1mv was suppose to be safe.

Hmmm a card is either stable or is not, at a given configuration core+mememory+voltage. How do you define "extra stability"? I'm genuinely curious.

First time I hear that one could get more fps out of static core+memory clocks but with additional voltage. Granted, I've not tested this myself as I'm aiming for the lowest possible voltage (for power efficiency and temperatures) not the highest :)

My card is stable at stock settings from what I could tell, but having a little extra safe voltage certainly shouldn’t have hurt anything. Yes, running extra voltage produces better scores in 3dmark from my testing. You never know when you might run into an application that might push your gpu in a way it doesn’t like, and having that extra .3mv might make the difference in your card running without any issues.

Ok gave it a try, left AB open etc, The test in OCCT the voltage was getting reported as .89-.9mv though.  It didn't die after 30ish seconds though.  However I put AB back to stock voltage setting and got the same exact results.  I let the tests both run for a few minutes, before it would barely make it 30 seconds every time.  Only change is I closed out a couple open Edge tabs, Steam, and Discord leaving just a few basic background apps open so maybe something like hardware acceleration in Edge was interfering and causing issues before.  I never saw OCCT report 1.1mv.  My temps with OCCT capped out at 60 on die and 79 hotspot, but I also didn't have my fans ramped up, just my basic profile that runs off water temp and my filters are a bit dirty.  In most game use even for example MSFS 2020 which I've managed to hit 99% usage on with heavy weather/scenery going on my hotspot temps are typically 10-12 over the main and the main usually caps out in the low-mid 50's.

Sounds like the extra voltage helped you become stable. Nvidia does blacklist specific apps to keep them from using max voltage like furmark, so it looks like occt is one of those apps.

Try running cp2077 with the voltage slider maxed out, and you’ll definitely see 1.1mv being used.

Hmm not sure on that since I put it back to default after.  I think it was a background thing/etc causing a conflict.  Unfortunately I don't own CP2077 so can't really test with that.

Card should last longer but you post reeks of mining type abuse
you may need to get a larger cooler

80 c HS under load at 1.1v sounds ok for now, especially on air, you can always block it if you had too and like your card .
My Daily is 1.25 undervolt and locked the clock at 2910 and 1470 mem , It pulls about 450w and Speedway scores 10800.  temp is 42 C with HS delta at 11c , so 53C . water saturates about 29C at ambient 74 F, I just ran the stinky VL donut and it pulled 535 W , lol , si its just a tune i have found were the card is happy , Lower temp than stock and about 6 % faster , My Cooler version is .975 at 2820clk +1200 mem amd it runs at 39-40 c all day long , Cyberpunk , Hogwarts , PR Stress test , doesn't matter and does not heat up my room .

Have you tried running OCCT basic GPU test at the......I think....default load of 100% with your voltage settings or just stock since your repaste?  I'm curious to find out what your hotspot delta is on that vs the main GPU temp.  I had OCCT set to stop any test if a sensor hit 80C and about 7.5 minutes into a 100% load GPU test it shut down due to 80C on the hotspot with 61 or 62 on the core.  Water was up to 37C but I didn't have my fans fully ramped.  Pretty sure it's passed this test before though so I'm wondering if TG dries out, or my mounting screws are no longer as tight as they should be, the 4 around the core.  I don't remember what cooling you're on though, in my case I'd have to try and get an EKWB backplate off while it's in the rig on a vertical GPU mount.  Temps are usually within expected deltas in actual content though.

I only ran it for like a minute to see if I would black screen like you did. I'm using the stock air cooler.

When my card was new I ran the msi kombustor (vk) furmark-donut stress test with fans & voltage maxed out and got the following result...

I haven't tried to run that test again as I'm already hitting 80C on the hotspot just running CP2077 @ 480w.

Ok thanks, looks like 82C might not be abnormal for extreme stress testing for the hotspot temp.  Maybe I need to set the OCCT setting to 84 to match the max GPU temp.

600W to hit 80  and now its hitting it at 480, I think maybe the vapor chamber might be compromised. Unless someone who blocked a card sells you a stock cooler , RMA might be the only choice

Maybe the vapor chamber is compromised. Maybe the cooler is warped. Who knows. I won’t be rma’ing until it’s constantly hitting 95c at 450w.

Good Luck and hope this gets solved quickly

It’s resolved for now. Card is working fine at the moment. If it gets hot again I’ll try some thermal grizzly kryonaut, or maybe even some kingpin cooling kpx before rma’ing.

So I"m not sure about the paste you did have on there, but I was debating giving KPX a try and was looking up comparisons to Kryonaut which I've been using.  Found some info that apparently Debauer (spelling?) has said Kryonaut on GPU's is expected to be replaced after a year.  If true that might explain my hotspot temp also seeming to be a bit higher under OCCT type loads than I remember.

Before I repasted it was the original paste. Not sure what the original paste was, but it was really good until it got burnt off. When I repasted there was hardly any of it left on the die.

Don't waste your time with liquid metal. Gigabtye 30 series cards about a year ago or so were dying left and right. RMA it.
Just for reference Gamer's nexus when they were doing PSU testing had a gigabyte card die that was in a separate system out of no where.
I believe this video https://youtu.be/aACtT_rzToI or the one after it talks about it. https://youtu.be/Xts3pvbcFos

Here a run down of the gigabyte 30 series problem. https://youtu.be/JFgsL5NFn_Y

You can search for "GIGABYTE 30 series dying" and go down the rabbit hole.

Just a warning Liquid Metal is NOT thermal paste and can eat certain metals. That WILL void your warranty.

honeywell ptm7950 is not thermally conductive it isn’t liquid metal.

OK. I didn't want you to ruin your warranty for something that will not help.

Sony uses it on the PS5... That is kind of scary.

LM eats aluminum and lead free solder so when the gasket material fails that holds the LM into place... Goodbye heatsink and goodbye PS5. If you watch teardown videos of the PS5 you will understand how easy it would be to ruin it. I wonder how many know the level of damage LM causes.
