Nevermind.. reading is fundamental lol. I just read over the xdevs page and its right there in plain site that the ln2 by design disabled the thermal protection

It does but if you flash it to normal or OC bios you will still have protection.
Pretty sure sparetime said the same.

Yea whoever had this card before me had already done this trick. Because the ln2 bios was already flashed in the oc position.

Could mean the previous owner flashed XOC bios to ln2 position .
If you use XOC, that's where you want it .
That's an old trick too .
The mystery deepens.

Out of curiosity. If I set the set the voltage 50mv using the switches on the board for everyday is it just that it will kill the longevity of the card

I tried mine and now I can pass Firestrike extreme all the way up to 2190 and I saw no difference in heat either

The switches made no difference for me either, it seems like the switches will help a card more that has a lower performing chip then one with a really good chip

I have not used the gpull or memll but the offset help the voltage go to 1.15. My gpu chip is definitely the weak link. I can boost the mem by alot. I crash at +1900 but I see no benefit after 1400. I'm going to turn off the offset switch later and use the GPUll switches to see if that helps but using those should heat me chip up really quickly if its anything like using loadline on cpu

OK so none of those switches did much but it was worth a shot. Sorry for all the questions but I'm noticed that my fans don't seem to be spinning on max. Fan 1 goes to a max of 1200 fan 2 never has any speeds and fan 3 is the only one that works 100%. Fans on radiator are spinning but on the the card display air goes to to max of 1200 and water shows 0. Thought the fans should be spinning faster

Set point curves are different dependant on which bios you use .
You can always set them manually in precision or afterburner.
Sparetime will have the % for each .
I know XOC runs everything at max .

Using ln2 bios on oc position. Fans set 100% but still running at 1200 for fan 1 fan 2 states 0 even though my radiator fans are plugged in. Not using evga fans

Yes , fans will not run at full speed at normal or OC
That's one thing I don't like .
Even ln2 in OC, the fans will still run at OC speed not ln2 speed .

Do I need xtreme cooling to run xoc? If I'm going to leave the ocing on regular settings not go crazy. Is it safe?

Keep the voltage low and it be fine .
I only took it up to 1.4v when I had an AC unit blowing on the case and the rad in ice .
Just don't take the voltage too high on the classified tool and keep an eye on temps .
There are articles on the classified tool and settings if you Google.
I would put ln2 back to its position and try that first before XOC.
See how that does.

I'm honestly not going to mess around with voltage. Just want the cooling aspect. Annoying that you can't max them out unless on xoc bios. I'll give it a shot in the am

Try ln2 in its proper bios position first.
That's easier

so who ever had this card put the xoc bios in the ln2 position and the ln2 in the OC position and left normal on normal. Even on Xoc the fans say 100% put only spitting on 600 rpm.

Nevermind figured it out. The fans were piggy backed and I guess the gpu didn't like that. Re did the fans and now everything is working.

So I decided to take it apart and redo the thermal paste. Whoever had this card did a number on it. Definitely did ln2 on this card because it still had some Styrofoam left over on it. Has liquid metal on on gou which corroded the cooper plate on cooler. Cleaned everything up applied new paste added.

Wow, that looks terrible, my gosh. Did the seller tell you they had put liquid metal on the die and used LN2 or DICE?

Re: Kingpin RTX classified controller settings 2020/05/09 13:29:49 (permalink)
This was an open box item from microcenter. When someone brings it back they just run it on a test bench I think and if it works they put back for sale at a discounted price. I know a little about LN2 and I know some people use foam insulation to prevent condensation. I saw pieces of it still stuck on the socket. He/she also used thermal paste around the copper plate instead of thermal pads and that's the reason for the crazy amount of paste everywhere. Of course when I put the card back together I guess the screen plug never connected all the way so no oled display for now but I'm going to replace the thermal pads I had used with better ones and fix the oled screen. I wish I could get a better cooler on there for now but not sure which ones fit since the clearance height is very small. Because of the corrosion I'm sure the paste doesn't apply evenly and probably the reason for the temp issues. Thank fully I have two year warranty on it so if it does fail I'll be safe

Re: Kingpin RTX classified controller settings 2020/05/09 13:58:58 (permalink)
I'm not even sure it will be covered under warranty with the liquid metal being used and messing up the copper, probably has the top of the die pretty faded and discolored to i imagine. As far as the OLED, those are a pretty precise fit and the plug can be misaligned real easy and mess up the pins. It has to be a straight pull up when removing and a straight push down when installing, any twist at all can bend the pins just enough to not make it work.  Here is a thread i started a while back for the bykski block, i can't remember if i sent it to you already or not.   https://forums.evga.com/Installing-the-Bykski-Block-on-the-EVGA-2080ti-Kingpin-m3025547.aspx      This is your best option for custom cooling the kingpin.

I had to remove one of the small grills next to it to get the plug right .
A right pain .

Well the warranty is through microcenter so I just bring it in and they just take care of the rest. But the card is working with no issues. I'll try and fix the oled when I get the fujipoly thermal pads on. The ones I used are really weak. I wasn't expected for paste to literally be everywhere that I had to dispose of old pads because they were full of paste

The pads go between the copper cold plate and the pcb, there is not suposed to be pads between the cooler and the copper plate. Where you see all that extra paste is where there is supposed to be paste.

Quick question. The compound around the cup onto the copper plate. Is it suppose to be paste or pad. It's hard to tell because it looks to perfect to be paste
